excellent touring jacket
I just returned from a 3000 mile ride from Seattle through the desert Southwest and the Sierra Nevadas. I ride my own Harley Softail, so this review is from a rider viewpoint - for me, functionaliy, warmth, ventiliation, and safety reign supreme. This jacket was awesome! All pockets and features are in the right places. Zippers and stitching are waterproof and high quality. The inner liner is removable and a solid piece in its own right, especially since it's windproof. I was warm in this jacket on 45 degree mornings which surprised me because with my leather jacket I wear a heated liner - I may toss that now On the hot 90-95 degree afternoons, I stayed cool with the air vents unzipped. The vents in the forearms are
especially good for letting air flow through the jacket. It's truly waterproof when it rains. The fit is excellent with velco adjustment tabs at the waist and in the arms. The jacket is so much lighter, more flexible, and more comfortable than a leather jacket. I've never gotten used to body armour, so I removed it, but there was plenty of it in all the right places. The only thing I rate down is that clearly this jacket isn't going to give you the protection of leather, but it's all a trade-off. This jacket is far more comfortable and it's both cooler on hot days and warmer on cold days. Sizing runs true, fits just rightt with the liner and loose without it. Wide enough through the shoulders, back, and chest for unconstricted movement and forward arm position on the handlebars. Buy your normal size, do not go up. This jacket is such a winner that it's amazing to me someone finally designed a woman riders jacket correctly!

Poor fit through the arms
I ordered the TPG Monarch, I really think it has some nice features. I like the pockets down low near the waist and I also liked the integrated hood, that could go under your helmet. I ordered the medium and it fit well through the body with the liner in it, but once I had the liner out, the elbow armor just doesn't stay in the right place. I noted that if I moved my arm, my elbow would hit the ground directly. Yes there are adjustmnets above and below the elbow, but there isn't enough velcro to make them useful. You either need the liner in, or you need really wide arms. A bit disappointed in this jacket, I was excited about it.
