Great product, even if you don't use this as a cover alarm. I attached the alarm behind my headlight with Velcro and ran the clip down to the rotor. If the bike is moved about a inch the alarm sounds. Good deterrence.Louie

Inexpensive and LOUD
I mean, for such a small investment, you get a lot of security. I pulled the pin in my apt to test and I was afraid my neighbors were going to call the cops (it was deafening). I bought this with the Dowco Guardian Weatherall Plus cover where there are multiple pockets to drop this sucker in. On my FZ-07, I put it in the front pocket and wrap and hook the lanyard around one of the spokes on the front wheel. Anyone pulling the cover off will be in for a real shock when that alarm goes off!

Worth $20 for the extra security. Very loud!!
I have my Gorilla Alarm , Disc lock, and bike cover with this alarm attached. Its a back up for the back up and when one fails to wake me up, hopefully the next alarm will and I can lock & load.
at 130DB this thing leaves your ears ringing. pretty simple and definetly worth $20. you dont need a dowco bike cover to use it. I have it attached to my bike and a non dowco bike cover. I like it. and i live in a city where bikes are stolen frequently, plus i have a shiny R1 that theives just love

For $20, how can you go wrong?
$20 for an alarm like this? How can you go wrong? First off, it's LOUD! Really, for the size of the unit it's pretty impressive (or annoying, depending on how much you play with it before actually using it). It's simple, cheap, and will give some level of additional security. Can't go wrong for the price of a pizza.

good alarm
I bought this as an additionnal security measure. It was inexpensive to purchase and if someone break my bike cover lock, I know the alarm will be my next line of defense. If the thief manage to get pass that alram, then he will be face with an Abus wheel lock and a big fat chain from Abus also. Since I live in the city, I think anything you can do to protect your bike is worth it.

Affordable alarm that works!
I've used this cover alarm for a few months and it's working well. On the inner/lower area of my rain cover for my bike, I have a pouch to place this alarm in. Just hook the provided lanyard/hook onto a part of your bike. As someone tries to lift the rain cover, it pulls the lanyard and alarm pin out, which activates the impressive alarm! This definitely turns heads when this thing goes off! I might buy another one for my patio sliding door to my home. For around $25, this alarm is worth it's weight in gold. Even if I do ever need to replace it, it's affordable enough to buy another one without regret.

Basic cover alarm
A nice basic alarm. It is disturbingly loud. It is fairly discreet as well. I live in the city and park my bike on the curb - when I am messing with the cover I can attach or disconnect the clip from my brake line in a smooth motion.

I have no doubt I'd be able to hear it anywhere in my house. If I am not home and it goes off, my awesome neighbors next door will be on the phone with the cops in about five seconds.

I am also considering installing it under the seat somewhere, running the alarm clip to a spoke (or something else that would have to move if the bike got messed with), and wiring up another hidden switch. That way I could use it without the cover, like if I park it somewhere in town for the day.

It requires a 9-volt battery (not included). It isn't the most beautiful object in the world, but who cares, it lives in a pocket on the inside of your cover.

Just a nice little extra peace of mind.

Works Great
I really liked how easy this product was to install. Instructions could use a little help to make things a bit more clear. I was surprised at how loud this alarm was when I performed my test in the garage. I think this coupled with the locking cover make a great pair. Very happy with this product.

Gerard D on Nov 26, 2014
To get as much peace of mind as possible. Apparently it is quite loud and works well, so hopefully this will be a good deterrent.
Michael P on Sep 27, 2014
Heard good things about this alarm, have the cover, so I figured I would try it out.
Clinton A C on Aug 31, 2014
I had a big recumbent bicycle that was stolen. This is for the replacement.
Amy M E on Aug 17, 2014
Purchase this for added security being that my bike is stored outside all year around. The loud alarm sound with help in keeping unwanted hands from touching it. lol
Larry W on Jul 21, 2014
To go along with the protection of the cover added security not just from tampering but one never knows if some for thing might have hit my investment like a branch or rock or some small animal might have crawled up under the cover and nested there, Any added security is well worth it for my investments protection being a new rider and learning more about what I need.
Maurice W on Jun 22, 2014
I ordered this because I don't have a garage and used it to rig up as an alarm to work with my Cycle Shell. Let me tell you, THIS THING IS LOUD!! I use two Xena disc lock alarms as well and they don't come close to this sound. If someone tampers with my bike at night this thing will wake up the neighborhood I mean it!
John M on May 12, 2014

Spending less $$ than what a movie cost... No brainer! Anything you can do to ADD a DETERRENT to what a thief has in mind will benefit you in the long run. Show your insurance company proof of security measures you've taken and you may even get a discount, that over time will pay for products like these. Don't be a statistic.

Is this something I could use everyday? Meaning is it for street use or more for storage. Just want to make sure there is a way to NOT trip it each morning... Also, if it does go off - how long does it last for and how do you disarm it?
Olly on May 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you could use this alarm everyday for "street use" and for storage (Long life battery), handy to alert you when someone has lifted the cover off the bike. This mini pocket size device was included with my Dowco cover and will work with any cover. It is easy to conceal due to it's small size. It's hard to trip it unless you forgot where you placed it, which goes on the inside on the bike or cover if it has a pocket.

When it goes off, last's until you switch it off by the on/off switch or until the battery runs out. Hope this helps otherwise, do a Google search.
