Great great great Love the gloves and carbon fiber knuckles! Could go without the little black strap around the wrist and part of the white star design started peeling a little on me but these are my first gloves ever and I don't regret buying them one bit April 28, 2013
A nice glove for the price. I've only had these gloves a couple of weeks but they seem like a good purchase for the price. They flow air really well so I would not consider using them in colder weather, they are definitely more of a spring, summer, fall glove. As with most leather gloves I've owned they were really stiff, so much so they actually cramped my hand the first few times I used them after about 5 minutes of riding. This was easily fixed by soaking them in almost boiling hot water for a half hour, putting them on for a little bit and working out the tightness. I did this twice. Then I just left them wet and rode with them for a couple of days going back and forth to work. Now they fit like a glove. Pun intended... I'd buy them again. April 1, 2013
Get them while you can! Haven't been able to ride in them yet, but I am impressed as always with Alpinestars quality. Have had the Octane SM for a while and was looking to upgrade to a gauntlet. Love the double closures on the cuff, very secure. They're a bit stiff, but I think they'll break in just fine. Overall a solid glove for a great price on close out right now! March 9, 2013
Really good Feels like a solid glove. Have not had the chance to take it on a long ride, but has done well so far. Just a heads up- they are very stiff at first. I recommend breaking them in before taking them out.(put them on while you watch TV or something) February 11, 2013
WRIST STABILITY! Very nice construction. Will give your hands, and wrist supperb stability! Little bitt uncomfortable at the beginning! After been used a few times, they will get seasond! January 28, 2013
Fits like, well, a glove I bought these gloves to protect my hands / wrists while riding. These gloves are "half-gauntlet" meaning they reach a third of the way up my arm (1/3 of the way between wrist and elbow). They are VERY comfortable thanks to the polyester inside liner and the foam covering the inside of the carbon fiber knuckles. I gave the gloves "good" for comfort as opposed to "excelent" because they do need to be broken in. On my new pair, my thumb has a bit of wiggle room whereas my brothers gloves (also SP-1's) do not and his have been used for one season. I would recommend wearing these while watching a movie or something just to get them ready for the riding season. They are very easy to slip on and off even with another hand gloved and the triple locking mechanism is easy to operate and very secure. You get a velcro strap over the wrist to hold the glove on then a little further away from the wrist (and fingers) you get the wrist brace that loops over the glove from both sides. The airflow is good with ventilation holes between the fingers and what appear to be ventilation holes on the tips of the fingers as well. I have worn these as winter gloves while walking about in -6*C and they kept my hands at a neutural temperature and did not get hot while on transit or wearing around the house to break them in. These are great gloves and are worth every penny! (Check out my video, I give a quick a quick look at my Bell RS-1 helmet, these Alpinestars SP-1 gloves and a Deltran Battery Tender Jr.) November 17, 2012
Great protection, fit tight I measured my hand as indicated and ordered the right glove. It fits but it's tight, not to tight as I feel the next size up would be loose. I think when I wear them a few times it will stretch a bit. Love the protection and the 3 closures at the wrist are nice. Can feel the grips well thru the fingers and palms. Like this glove. Alpinestars Gloves SP-1 Product offers sufficient protection for your racer and/or track day enthusiast. Gloves are pretty stiff at first but wear in after 3-4 hours of riding. Glove size runs a tad bit on the small side in comparison to the fitting chart. Overall satisfied with look, style, comfort, protection and price. October 15, 2012

Answer:
The Alpinestars SP-1 Gloves Closeout are not advertised as waterproof or even water-resistant. That being said, they won't hold up very well at all. If you're looking for a waterproof glove from Alpinestars, check out the Tech Road Gore-Tex Gloves.

The SP-1 is available in a 3XL, however the glove sizing guide does not provide the sizing range for this size.
