The S-MX Bionic vest features the Bionic Back Protector integrated with a chest guard and side kidney plates to offer the rider a 1pc front and back protection system for the street and race track. The vest is intended to be worn under a jacket or suit giving frontal and back impact protection during a crash.

CE Level 2 Bionic Back Protector
CE Level 2 protection means this protector offers double the impact performance of a CE Level 1 protector.
CE Level 2 Impact performance (under 9kN of average transmitted force) in accordance with EN 1621-2
DFD (Dynamic Force Dispersion) Technology: this protector is reduced in thickness and in weight: 15mm thinner and 130g lighter than previous models.
Flexible front chest plate, covering the Sternum, rib cage and vital organs with internal impact absorbing foam
Thermoformed ergonomic front and rear bio-foam panels for additional comfort
Adjustable shoulder and kidney straps for full adjustability and personalized fit, ensuring comfort while riding
Ergonomically shaped side plates for side impact protection

Good protection, lightweight and good looks Worn only once, on a trip of 335 miles. I was driving in a warm climate. Felt no discomfort and was easy to wear. My friend put the guard and punched him in the back and he barely felt the impact. That was funny. November 19, 2012

Best product for tight suits or jackets! After much research, multiple purchases and returns, I've found this item to suit my needs perfectly. I needed protection for the back and chest that can fit in my snug 1 piece leathers for track days and under my jackets for street use giving me CE level 2 for back and CE for chest and this item fits the bill! Another quality piece by Alpinestars and Revzilla's great customer service and fast shipping makes me a happy customer every time! June 20, 2012

Great "vest" I love this product. I bought this due to its safety rating. It fits well and doesn't move about under you my jacket. I have a naked bike so sitting up the back protector is short enough that it doesn't hit the seat or anything. Its a great piece of protection. HIghly recommend! April 29, 2011

Great Vest, Exactly what I was trying to find I needed a new vest that would protect me better than my Icon vest but not hinder my movement, especailly on the track. This vest fits the bill. It fits great and feels strong. I hope to never have to reply on its strength but I am confident that it will do the job. Nicely designed protection This is a great product. My jacket already has elbow, shoulder, and back protection like most, but I wanted some extra protection for those vital organs around the chest area. This does the trick nicely with a little adjusting. I will probably take the back protector out of my jacket now since I won't need it with this. I think Alpinestars has made a well designed and comfortable product for that added bit of safety you might like to have. December 14, 2008

Hello. I'm thinking about buying a protection for motorcycling ride and I in doubt about two models.
SMX BIONIC PROTECTION VEST and TRACK PROTECTION VEST. Can you help me telling the difference between that? With one has a better protection? I understand that the protection for the back is the same, as both of then has Level 2 of protection but what about the chest? Witch one protect more?

Answer:

While the SMX Bionic 2 Protection Vest has a hard chest protector, the Track Protection Vest provides greater surface area coverage for the torso with its multiple impact resistant foam inserts. In my experience, the Track Protection Vest fits better and provides more comfort than the SMX Bionic 2 Protection Vest especially when worn under a street or racing jacket/suit.

Is this product rated for multiple impact protection and re-useable after a crash?

In the product reviews for competing products- ie the Dainese Thorax Wave and ForceField Extreme Flite- you guys explained how the Dainese is a one-crash only product -vs- the ForceField, which is a multiple crash re-useable product.

But, you guys made no such explanations for the Alpinestars SMX-Bionic 2 vest. How does it rate/ compare?

Answer:

To date Forcefield is the only crash protection that is deemed reusable due to the energy reflection properties. Most other manufacturer's armor is rated for single crash protection due to energy absorption properties. With that said the protection provided by the SMX-Bionic 2 Vest is still highly rated.
