Alpinestars Balaclava Skull Cap Beanie
wouldn't purchase it
Picture looks better online than actual.
If I hadn't removed the tag, I'm pretty sure
I would returned it. Should offer different
sizes. Doesn't fit well

It is what it is
I bought this because of 2 reasons. The first is I have long hair. The second is because I have a Ducati balaclava I used, but I sold my Ducati and I don't want to use the full balaclava anymore. This balaclava is perfect for what it is. Compact, and does the job. I like it, and it's cheap enough that if something happens to it I can order another one without feeling too bad.

I have used this product for over 10 years. the elastic is now tired so I am replacing it.
This is the best beanie I have found. I like it because it breathes and does not let my head sweat. It washes easily and dries quickly. I like the fact that there are no seams going across my ears like the Schampa and other beanies. The bottom of this beanie goes below my ears for a comfortable fit. It also keeps my ears in place when I put my helmet on, and does not take up too much room inside the helmet. If you spread the $18 over 10 or so years, it is not a bad deal.
I have used this beanie for years in Baja, Dual Sport across the Mojave and in the curves at Willow Springs. It works with any type of helmet that I own. Great Product.

A msut have
Started wearing these about 12 years ago and now I can't ride without one. Great accessory for summer rides in Texas

Works if your helmet is too big
But if it's not, the design of the seams on this will likely drive you nuts. Far from normal alpinestars quality.
It quickly stank more than my helmet.
Does help keep your hair out of your face when putting everything on though.

not worth the money
I agree with Winterveil 100% except of the bandana.
The Schampa coolskin is better. With the return shipping cost is not even worth returning.

not bad for florida
I have longer hair, so every time I put on a helmet it pushes down over my forehead. This is perfect for keeping your hair back and stooping the sweat from making your helmet pads all gross. Worth a try

Doesn't seem worth the price
At $18 I'm really not sure that this skull cap is worth purchasing.
The Good: the construction seems durable and this thing definitely provides good airflow
The Bad: the internal seams are *thick*, so thick in fact that this thing leaves creases on my forehead that last for hours after a short ride. The material is so thin that I really don't think it does much of anything in the way of keeping sweat out of your lid liner.
I purchased this item to alleviate a problem that I'm having with my helmet - there's an internal seam/ stitching in the top liner that presses directly on the crown of my head and leaves a wicked dent in my head for almost a day after an extended ride.
Unfortunately, this skull cap has a seam right across the forehead which is thicker than the seam in my lid that's giving me issues.
Personally I think a bandana would do a better job of absorbing sweat and keep you almost as cool as this skull cap
