Fitment Notes & Exceptions

  • You must have an iPhone or Android-based phone or tablet to use this device - it is not compatible with laptop or desktop computers
  • Vance and Hines does not recommend stacking the FP3 onto a piggyback fuel controller
  • Currently, Vance and Hines is supporting lightly modified bikes - intakes, exhausts, and similar changes are supported well, but if you have changed your displacement, heads, or cams, map support at this time is limited for bikes modified this heavily
  • There are literallly millions of equipment combinations to map and V&H is working rapidly to map popular combos
  • As of 1 May 2014, Vance and Hines has maps for 2014 Touring CVO models
  • For CANBus-equipped bikes only

Vance Hines Fuelpak FP3 Autotuner For Harley 2011-2014 4.7 5 38 38
Best tuner hands down. If you're looking for a stage one tuner his is it. Best tuner I've ever used. It's auto tune feature is excellent. I definitely recommend this product. August 19, 2014
Better than a dyno tune. The Fuel Pac arrived on time and worked as advertised. It was easy to use and unlike a dyno tune if I ever need it again, I've got it. August 19, 2014
great item! Bought this for my Iron and with the Short stag pipes this makes a bike a real bike. Worth the money! SO long as it's under $350. August 9, 2014
Great tuner. Extremely simple to use. Very easy installation, slick iPhone and Android interface. Never pay a dealer to tune your bike again. Only downside is you have to buy a new one for each bike you own, because once you attach it to a bike, it is forever "married" to that VIN. I also want to mention Vance and Hines's awesome customer service. I emailed them with a question about which map to use for my pipes, and they got back to be in 12 minutes. Literally. 12 minutes. Overall, very impressed with the product and the company. August 8, 2014
Great Technology This little thing is awesome. Easy to use; no problems whatsoever. After installing V&H VO2 air intake and shortshots on to my '14 Iron 883, I flashed the canned map for that setup to my bike and it's running great. Soon I'll be running the autotune feature to fine tune the map. One note on "installation": It took me a while to find the can-bus plug on my '14 Iron. Not sure where they have been located in the past, but the illustration in the instructions indicates that it is behind the cover on the left side of the bike under the seat (i.e. where the battery is). That may be where it was for previous models, but on the '14 Iron, it is located beneath that cover (as in closer to the ground), not behind it. You don't need to remove that cover in order to access it, but you'll really have to get down on the ground in order to see it. August 6, 2014
So far so good! Really improved bike performance. Almost all popping on decel from new slip ons (V&H 3" slash cuts) gone after using the "canned" tune. Much smoother acceleration, as well. I have noticed a 2-4 mile per gallon gain, actually making 49 mpg on the last long weekend trip where I went through four tanks of gas. I know the range of the tuner is limited now, but if this will be V&H's new flagship tuner I expect it will be able to handle more aggressive customization in the future. For example, I have no plans for cams yet but expect the ability to tune for them to be there down the line. If V&H doesn't put that effort in, I may have to downgrade the rating... August 4, 2014
best investment yet While I wait for some more pipes to get released for my new '14 Forty Eight I went ahead and purchased the FP3 alongside a new A/C. After I installed the A/C I hooked up the FP3 and flashed a new map according to my setup. What a great improvement over stock! I get much better throttle response and it seems to idle better as well. There was even enough room to leave the module connected and tucked away unseen. Now I can pull out my phone and monitor my bikes vitals at any given time. Too cool! July 29, 2014
Easy install This was easy to install. I would recommend this unit if you have Vance and Hines pipes with a High flow intake. I have Rinehart Extreme True duals with a screaming eagle stage 1 kit. There's no MAP for that set up, but they will give you a map that's close. The AUTOTUNE feature hasn't tuned it completely in yet. July 21, 2014

Matthew W: You should just be able to click on your maps. Obviously you have to have the tuner plugged in and bike turned on. Once you click on the maps it should show you all your maps. You will have your stock map at the top and the custom maps below that. Just select one and hit the trash can in the upper right corner to free a spot up. Mar 23, 2014

Matthew W: You should just be able to click on and view your maps and then select one of them and hit the trash can in the upper right corner. When I hooked mine up all the slots were empty. That's odd yours are all filled. Mar 23, 2014

A shopper asked: Will this product have maps for my 2014 103ci dyna street bob, i just put V&N slip ons and Cobra PowerFlo Air Intake Kit - Black 606-0102B on it, dont want to buy if it dont have the map for this combo....? Apr 27, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
John W: V&N slip ons? If you mean V&H then yes they have a map for that combo (when it comes to intakes it simply shows it as a high flow air intake, nothing specific, so no worrying about intake manufacturers)

Even if they didn't it would have the autotune feature to make a custom map for your setup.
Apr 27, 2014
Reply to John Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Gregory S: Short answer is, yes it will. All high flow intakes are basically the same, they allow more air. The throttle body can only allow so much air, so there is a standard "setting" for all high flow intakes. It does also allow for more aggressive mods such as cams. The program will identify your pipes specifically because they are Vance and Hines. Therefore it will work for your setup. I have owned this mapper for about a month and I love the features and ease of use. I even added a usb charger and phone mount to my bike so I can ride using he live sensor data. Definitely money well spent. Apr 27, 2014

william b: It has maps for v&h slip ons and just offers hi flow filter which all of them are about the same anyway...flash the ecm with the map for your setup and you can use auto tune to dial it in if necessary...hope that helps Apr 27, 2014

ZE\'EV B: It will have a map that is close enough. I put a bassani exhaust with a K & N air filter. I used a map that is close. It runs great! I have a 2014 Harley Breakout. Apr 27, 2014

A shopper asked: Can this product be used for multiple bikes? Jun 23, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Ramanth V: How many motorcycles can I tune with my FP3?

Answer: Each bike you tune will require a different FP3. The FP3 will “marry” to your VIN when you flash a map to it the first time. After that, the FP3 will not be able to flash any other bike. You can still use it to read diagnostic trouble codes or display live data on any CAN bus equipped Harley
Jun 24, 2014
Reply to Ramanth Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
William F: The way I understand it is: It can be used on a variety of bikes, but once you use it to download and program an ECM it is married to that one bike and can't be used on any other bikes.
You can retune the bike it's married to, just not different bike...

Brandon R: No, once it is sync'ed to a VIN then it has to stay with the bike. Def worth it though, super easy to use through the smart phone app! Jun 23, 2014

Ralph D: No. It synchronizes with the bike its plugged into and that's it, but its very easy to setup and use.

John R: If I read instructions right, you could have up to three maps saved on your phone. You are able to flash the map and take it off and flash another bike. However, the autotune will not be useful if you switch it out or take it off completely. Jun 23, 2014

Dennis M asked: What were the improvements noticed after ? HP, Torque, throttle response? Aug 20, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Patsy W: Along with the FP3, I installed a Big Sucker air cleaner, and VH Bigshots Staggered. I don't know any exact numbers or anything, as I didn't dyno my bike, but there were definitely noticeable differences after the stage 1 upgrade. The FP3 is VERY easy to use, its convenient in that you can monitor it via bluetooth to your phone and can re-flash and edit maps whenever you need to. The throttle response, HP, and torque seemed drastically different, but again i don't know how much of that is necessarily the FP3. All i know is it seems to do the job with the air/fuel ratio and my bike rides great. It is very rare for me to get any popping on decel, but when it does pop its usually just a single little pop, no loud pops or backfiring.

Hope this answers your question.
Aug 20, 2014
Reply to Patsy Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Christopher H: I noticed that there is a little throttle response increase, there is a decrease in my engine temperature, and a significant decrease in deceleration pop. The rev limit is also increased. Autotuning may get you some hp and torque but probably not enough to feel the difference. Aug 20, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Nathan H: When in doubt, contact tech support at Vance and Hines. That's what I did and they put my mind at ease. Also the support you get from revezilla can't be beat. Those are the two resources that I used, and am completely happy with the end results. BTW, installation was a breeze. If in doubt, do the install during Vance and Hines business hours for complete tech support. Aug 7, 2014

Richard M: It can't hurt. The factory tune is extremely lean and this will help it perform even better than just installing the exhaust alone. Besides, you'll need it if you ever add an aftermarket air cleaner to the mix. Aug 5, 2014

A shopper asked: I HAVE A 2014 883 IRON, JUST GOT SHORT SHOTS STAGGERED, STOCK AIR FILTER, BIKE BEGAN TO POP WHEN GAINING SPEED OR QUICK ACCELERATION, ALSO HAVING BACKFIRE SPITTING WHEN DEACELERATING.
WILL THE FUEL PACK BE ENOUGH TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEMS?
Aug 4, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Timothy M: I have a 14 iron 883 with short shots, high flow a/c, and the FP3. The FP3 is set up to assume a high flow a/c; there is no way I know of to flash a map with a stock a/c. That said, if you flash the map for short shots to your bike, it should go a long way towards solving your problem. My guess is if you auto tune the bike using the FP3 after that, your bike will be running really smooth. Aug 5, 2014

Timothy M: My (educated) guess is that the FP3 will get your bike running well even without a high flow a/c. I've also read that V&H customer service for FP3 customers has been quite good. So, I'm confident that if a canned map + auto tune doesn't get the bike running perfectly, V&H customer service should be able to help you out. I actually think that V&H can remotely access and edit your maps, but I could be wrong about that.

A high flow a/c is not NECESSARY. But it comes highly recommended. A complete stage 1 upgrade (minus cams, if you count that as stage 1), will really bring your Iron to life. Basically, you're helping the bike breath better on both ends, intake and exhaust. If you've got a "high flow" exhaust like the short shots and the relatively restrictive stock a/c, you've got a bike that can breath out but not in. Between the shortshots and the FP3, I know you're already talking about a serious amount of money. But, a basic high flow a/c is relatively inexpensive and, in my opinion, well worth the cost given that you are already so close to a full stage one upgrade. Put that revzilla cash or bucks or whatever it is to good use! Aug 7, 2014
Patsy W: normally popping is on decel, not when gaining speed. You might have an exhaust leak. If not, then the FP3 should definitely help... it wouldnt hurt. Aug 20, 2014

Jesse G: To be honest I would not know. At the time when I purchased VH fuel pack it was the only one available for my bike a 2014 iron 883. I did some research and this was the one that fit my needs. When you have a new bike a lot of parts that might fit the year before might not fit yours. I ran into that many times. You can always go to the manufacturers web sight and they might be able to tell you. This product is really nice easy to use and easy to set up. Have to try diffrent calibrations at first but ones you get the rite one the bike feels great. My brother also picked one up and his happy with it. Sorry could not help Jun 27, 2014

Keith R: I recently bought this along with a set of Vance and Hines Big Radius for my 2014 Breakout. I literally swapped the exhaust & air filter, plugged in the FuelPak, followed the instructions and was on the road in less than 20 min. The bike runs FINE like it is with the pre-loaded maps, no need for Dyno Jun 12, 2014

CRAIG L: No It's not. I bought the Big Radius 2-2, VO2 Naked, and the tuner for my 2014 fourty eight and the bike sounds and runs GREAT! Jun 13, 2014

A shopper asked: Besides New air filter and exhausts, will this product work if I upgrade my 2014 Iron 883 from 883 to 1200? Jul 29, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Timothy M: The FP3 will not handle an upgrade like 883 to 1200 now. For now, it's only designed to work with intake and exhaust upgrades. I've heard/read some grumblings that the FP3 may be more capable in the future, but you can't know for sure. Aug 7, 2014

Peter V: I would contact V&H directly. Their CS department may have the exact answer to your question. I installed mine a 2014 Heritage and it worked without a hitch. The interactive tuning instructions are a little vague and I do wish they would let you download the map so you can study it to make adjustments. Jul 15, 2014

Thierry T: No,only for 883 and 1200 sporster.
It's possible to use the fuel pack in mode auto tune.
But i'm notre sure.

A S asked: How exactly is the live sensor data displayed while riding? Jun 16, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
John R: HUD has up to five options that you can customize. Temp, speed, rooms are among the choices. Information is located at each corner with a center location that is the largest displayed. Overall the product is awesome to use. The fact that it learns as you ride and adjust the map when apply the values. Jun 16, 2014

Timothy S: You have to mount your smart phone or other device to your bike to see the live data which is transmitted via bluetooth. It is nice functionality but I find I rarely need to see the data live. Jun 16, 2014

A S asked: Would it be possible to bend a valve or cause internal damaged with this fp3 I have a 2013 breakout.with the big radius 2n2 and high flow air filter? May 7, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Christopher H: It may be possible but I honestly can't say for sure.

I also have the 13 Breakout with the Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 into 2 with the Screaming Eagle Stage 1 kit and I have not had any problems while using the map they supplied. My bike did not run well after the autotune feature so I went back to the regular map supplied.

If you think you bent a valve or caused internal damage you probably want to contact Vance & Hines directly to have them answer that question. You probably should also take your bike to your mechanic to have it looked at before further damage occurs.

Keith R: I recommend the preloaded map. I have a 2014 breakout with Vance and Hines 2 into 2 and a Rowland Sands intake..bike runs like a raped date with the pre loaded map, don't waste your energy on the auto tune unless you have a lot more mods Jun 12, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
ZE\'EV B: There are not many choices for the Breakout; as its a newer bike. Your iPhone will walk you through the exhaust and breather. I chose the closest and it works great. I have Bassani pipes; which is not a pre-mapped choice. I chose the tune that was closest (for Vance & Hines pipes) and then you can custom "tune" from that point; if you find it necessary. Mar 27, 2014

ZE\'EV B: You don't need to keep it plugged in; once you have "flashed" the correct tune to your bike. Extremely Simple. Mar 27, 2014

A shopper asked: I have a 2012 FLSTC Heritage Classic with a SE Air cleaner & Rush 1.75" Slip ons. I added S&S 583 cams. At the moment it runs ok with a dealer ecu flash for the pipes and air cleaner.

Are there any plans to add maps for bikes with cams, and if not will the auto-tune feature pick up the cams and capture the proper mapping? Thanks!

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (1)
Gregory S: The use of this programmer alone will not require any type of dyno. It does use an auto tune feature by reading factory installed components which acts like a simplified dyno. Though it may not be as accurate, it will much cheaper and can be utilized multiple times without having to pay extra. Mar 17, 2014
