TecMate OptiMate 4 Dual Program Battery Charger for BMW CANbus

The TecMate Optimate 4 is CANbus-ready and features a weatherproof enclosure with built-in wall mounts, improved energy efficiency and cables good down to -40 degrees, the OptiMate 4 DUAL PROGRAM is ideally suited to all powersport vehicles especially those used on water and in the cold. Tested, proven and endorsed by numerous power sport vehicle OE’s and users world-wide. Recommended for STD (with removable filler caps), sealed AGM (absorbed glass mat) & sealed GEL 12V lead-acid batteries up to 50Ah. Fully automatic operation that includes all safety features such as reverse polarity protection, no spark connection and is approved to UL & CSA safety standards for automatic battery chargers.

  • CAN-bus program features KEYLESS activation program guarantees automatic re-opening of the connection even with the ignition not turned on
  • Program 2 (default setting on this model) recovers, charges, tests and maintains the battery through the CAN-bus controlled 12V socket with the included SAE-79 accessory
  • 10 second test at connection indicates your battery condition, a quick and easy ‘ride meter’ that will determine if you are ready to go or will have to charge the battery first
  • OptiMate 4’s proven multi stage desulfation program saves neglected batteries (as low as 0.5V) other chargers can't
  • Multi step program, that includes a unique cell voltage balancing step, guarantees the fastest and most complete charge
  • OptiMate 4 will maintain your battery safe and ready-to-go for months on end, with the extremely effective “charge and rest” maintenance program
  • Hourly battery condition tests monitors the battery and the current drain by the vehicle circuitry; a problem is indicated on an easy to understand light display
  • 10 second test at connection for a more hands on diagnosis of battery condition

High quality product without the high price! Instructions are a bit confusing, however the charger works excellent and is less than half the price of the BMW charger. And as always excellent service form revzilla. May 2, 2013

Great features, easy to use, high-quality The Techmant Optimate4 with the BMWCANbus has features showing your battery's status (ie. good or deficient battery) and easy to see and understand lights showing periodic maintenance charges to keep the battery in top condition. I like this unit much better than the battery tender it replaced. I was happy with that until I saw this. MIght get another one for my other bike, a Harley. Still have it on a battery tender. Technology beyond me Does the job and yes, it works with CANBus (used on 2012 R1200GS). I have no idea what it does though. Various LEDs blink at various intervals, lights go on and off but eventually after an hour or so everything settles and you get a steady green light and a charged battery. February 25, 2013

Easy to use I thought the unit would require much input from the user as it has a lot of features. Once the unit is connected to the battery, it is just plug and play. It does all the work and decides how best to charge your battery. I've had it plugged in continuously to my bike, and the unit does not over heat. February 12, 2013
Great battery charger/maintainer! I like this charger a lot! It's simple, plug it in and there ya go. I was looking for a charger to maintain my battery threw winter months with a quick connect cord for ease of maintenance from here on. After reviewing all chargers out there I kept coming back to this one. Most major Moto manufacturers recommend this charger (Yamaha, which I ride) and a couple even have there names on this charger, that tells me something! It really is easy to understand - It test, red bad, yellow not so bad, green good, it charges as needed then test again. Simple! After initial test and charge, it test every hr and keeps a full charge on battery without a constant trickle charge, I like that to. Installation is easy of quick connect cord (a must) and everything is great quality. So far it has worked perfect for me and now with the quick connect cord hooked up I don't have to raise the tank on my FZ6 to get to my battery for testing and charging. I like it! Thanks Revzilla!
