Stylish shoes that act like boots
I bought these shoes to use when I commute to work or for short trips around town. Most boots I tried on looked as though I just signed up for space camp, got off the slopes in Aspen, or I was planning on taking on the MotoGP. I understand that safety and motorcycle style is the primary focus of riding gear manufacturers, but I wanted something a little less racey.

Before I ordered the shoe I was skeptic of the protection a product that looks like a sneaker would provide, but once I received the shoe my doubts were erased. The shoes are made from very thick and durable leather. My guess is the leather comes from cows that have been barraged with insults from the drill instructor R. Lee Ermy in Full Metal Jacket in order to get leather so thick and tough. The shoe is really stiff. The footbed, heel guard, and toe box are all very rigid, and the malleus (ankle) protector is perfectly placed and seems up to task. While the shoe is stiff, the interior is quite padded and comfortable. I normally wear a size 10.5, or 11 if I'm wearing Nike's, but I went with the 44 (size 10) since they don't offer half sizes. The fit seems perfect. I would definitely recommend ordering on the small size if you are unsure. When you have the shoe on it definitely feels like a snug hiking boot. They come with a shift guard that slips over the toes box so you don't damage your precious shoes on the upshifts, but I haven't used it yet. The shoes come in a "distressed" look as if they have already been broken in so I don't think a little added wear will affect the looks or durability of the shoe. Honestly I would buy a pair of these in non-motorcycle form to sport around. You may have to fend off the ladies though since they seem to be really attracted to the sleek styling and sturdy rugged exterior, but results may vary.

Overall I can't say enough about how happy I am with these boots/sneakers. Initially I intended to spend about half the price on a cheaper pair of boots, but am really glad I went the TCX-X street route instead. If you are looking for a dedicated touring boot, these might not be the best bet, but you already know that. If you are looking to keep it safe and sensual when you are out there on the streets, TCX-X streets are for you.

Just received
Perhaps the first review of these boots on here! First off, they are indeed stylish. I'm a huge fan of Chuck Taylor's, and I find them to be my favorite go to shoes. However they are lacking in the protection category. These step that category up a notch. They look good, are reasonable comfortable to wear all day (almost as flexible as the converse), and they offer the amount of protection I needed for my sense of mind. I would not wear these for spirited riding, but for the casual ride, or early morning commute, they're perfect. One item of concern is that I was expecting a toe box with more reinforcement...these have a very minimum reinforcement, if any at all in the toe. The material is suede, and I feel as if I could spray on some scotch-guard or other waterproofing spray to protect them a bit from dirt, as well as offer a bit of protection from a light rain, or road spray.

Nice shoes
Love the shoes. Very comfortable, but warm. Had the local shoe smith install small grommets on the inside of the shoes for ventilation. This seems to help when riding here in south Alabama.

Great shoe, inaccurate sizing chart
I recently purchased a pair of these and I love them. For a "converse" style shoe, they offer the expected level of protection. They're also much more comfortable then expected.

My only beef is with TCX's sizing chart. In US sizes, I'm a 9-9.5. So according to their sizing chart that would be a 43. I ordered these without referring to my other boots as a reference and it ended up costing me $12 in exchange shipping. The "size 9" was at LEAST a US 10. Here I am thinking they may be too small, and it turns out they were massively over-sized. Take heed, check your best fitting shoe first before ordering these and use the European size chart to order. The US conversion is waaaaaay off.

Good slow speed protection & style
This shoe has 4X the quality of the Speed and Strength shoe which I had to return due to a breakage near the heal. This shoe has a much better material and not "poofy" like other shoes. Buy with confidence!

Great shoes, protection, comfort for the price
Bought the men's version as they didn't have my size in the women's. They are very comfortable yet still feel solid and protective after breaking them in (allow 1-2 weeks for break in). Great price point (around $100), sturdy sole, protective toe box and heel and ankle protection. Only thing that would be more protective would probably be the full length racing style boots (which I opted not to buy for practicality reasons of looking like a normal person when I get off my bike). Look pretty good with jeans and I can wear around after hopping off my bike and are comfortable to walk around in for length periods of time.

Seems solid. Deserves the rating that made me buy it.
I prefer riding shoes that don't necessarily look like riding shoes. (Gotta get off the bike and mingle at some point, I guess) These fit the bill and it seems the armored chucks design is catching on.

They looks solid, their construction seems to be pretty good with a strong footbed, ankle protection, strong material in the upper.

The only concerns I have with it are:
The size chart made me run a touch large, I usually wear 11.5 wide and since half sizes were not an option really, I ordered a 12 equivalent thinking euro sizing would be tight, especially in terms of width. I should have gotten an 11 as I have almost too much toe room in terms of length. Width seems decent though and I can live with a little extra toe room.

They are kinda pricey. I wish I could have waited for a big sale or something but the dainese I had fell apart on me and I hated wearing the boots I had in the interim.

I wish there was a solid rubber or plastic thing for the shifter on the left toe. The current solution that came in the box is this elastic band with some extra material oriented to the top to "protect" the toe area. But I think just some extra material mated to the same area would have looked better and been more durable. Honestly, no one would care that my left foot had a shifter pad. Right now, I worry that walking around with the elastic on would wear through it. So I am likely to forget it was there and break it or would have to put this thing on/take it off at stops and stick this thing that has been on the road in my pocket or something. Kinda hokey for how much you pay for these kicks.

BUT the shoes ride well, look good, and feel pretty protective so I rated it well as most of these issues are more or less superficial.

Be safe!

Very decent all-day urban riding shoes
I bought this based on the positive reviews and that it won the Revzilla award thing.

I'm happy enough with the looks (though my wife says I'm at least 15 years to old to carry it off properly) and for the protection it gives.

It's perfect for commuting, even in the heat of Kuala Lumpur, where I live and work. You wouldn't need to swap out for something else at the office, unless you're the sort who needs to wear a suit, tie and double cuffs to work every day -- which means you're probably not the sort to commute daily on a bike, anyway.

I ordered a size larger than I normally wear, even though some of the reviewers here noted that it runs large. I'm glad that I did, however, since it fits just about nice for me.

I normally wear 11 UK (12 US, 46 EU) with W or EE for my archless wide feet. I ordered a 47 EU (12.5 US) and it's just nice, a little tight even when I put my orthotics inserts in.

Female Buyer of Male Shoe
I originally wanted the female version of this shoe after a long amount of debate, only to find out they were out of stock everywhere.
After then debating between the waterproof and this version, I got these in the white, as I needed breath-ability and comfort during work, where I am always on my feet, moving, changing positions and working under the sun.
I wear between a female 8 and ordered these in a 6. They fit to a T and accommodated my wider feet easily. I put in the insoles I used in my other boots and they work beautifully now. I was sure without a heel it would be hard to re-affirm my position on my bike (I'm 5'0"), but really the super-flat sole helped with staying steady in the long run. I will say that the white gets dirty quickly but it adds to the distressed look.
I treated them with leather treatment to keep it soft and supple, but when it comes down to it, these are around-town street shoes. I would not take them on the freeway or to the twisties, as protection is minimal at best. Tying the ankles up tight makes them dig in and keeping them loose raises the chance of them getting torn off in a crash, so with that being said, it's up to you how much safety you want to sacrifice for comfort. For me and my needs, these were just what I was looking for.

Great riding shoe.
I was looking for a shoe that would provide protection on my daily commute but still looked normal around the office. This shoe fit the bill perfectly. Most people think it's a regular sneaker. Comfortable enough to walk in and wear all day but still provides the necessary high-ankle support.

I wanted a more casual style riding boot, and these are definitely it. Love the vintage look to them. I've tried the women's dark grey ones before and they were comfortable. Hopefully there is no difference in fit between the men's and women's styles. . . I know I'm a 36 in the women's boot, so hopefully it's the same in the men's. Can't beat the price either. They seem like they would offer a decent amount of protection for city riding as well.

Great urban riding sneaker, with just enough protection to make me feel less vulnerable, blasting through L.A. traffic... Sole is stiffer than regular sneakers, which is very comfy, and the small ankle and heel protectors are just enough to inspire confidence without switching to a moto-specific boot that could not be worn "in real life" around town...

I chose to buy these because of my overall expected riding style. It will mostly be under 80 miles an hour within downtown. Also, I am a server and my bike would be my main means of transportation so I need something that is versatile and easy to get into as I plan on doing midday costume changes.

This is my SECOND pair of TCX X-Street boots. These boots are F'n AMAZING. Not only are they ACTUALLY WATERPROOF, they LOOK AWESOME and are super comfortable. This is my go-to pair of shoes for riding, working in the garage, and going out... I lace mine up loose so I can slip them on and off quickly. Because of the vintage style, the more beat up they get - the more stylish they look! I actually the TCX X-Wrap boots as well but like these better in terms of comfort/style. HIGHLY Recommend!

I wanted something that looked more casual. I wish they came in black because I didn't want the waterproof version in the heat. I'm not too crazy about denim shoes with denim jeans, but they fit great and seem to provide good protection while looking good. Wanted a riding shoe that was cooler in summer than leather shoes. I already have the black WP version of this shoe and like it a lot. I ordered the denim version for summer riding. I ordered one size smaller than the WP version as recommended in many of the reviews. I also wanted to know that I could exchange them for free if they don't fit quite right. The product photos for these shoes make them look worn and dirty. Do they come that way, or was this just done for the product pics?
Elliott w on Mar 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Actually it's more of a crackle / fade coloring aesthetic. In fact the blue color scheme makes the shoes look less dirty with wear and tear. I've had mine for over a year and they clean-up easily. I like the colors and piping and think it's what separates these high top inspired riding boots to traditional looking black. It's all individual preferance with colors and style though. Hope this helps.
The tread on this shoe doesn't look stable enough on wet/oily surfaces. I'm concerned about slipping as I move the bike around and/or shift/brake. Anyone experience any issues with the stability of the tread? Thanks!
Mark R on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Have had these a few years and never noticed any problems slipping around, though I was never specifically paying attention to that. In fact I wear these casually during the winter and have had no problems walking around in snow and ice, of course without the weight of a bike underneath me.
Hi All,
I would like to purchase these shoes ASAP before they go out of stock, however, there seems to be a mixed review on size differences. Most people say they run a little large, while others say they are spot on.

I am a men's size 8.5 Wide (EE). According to the chart I should get a size 42, should I go with the chart or one size smaller? I like a little wiggle room and I don't like too tight in the toe box area.

Thank you for your advice.
A shopper on Oct 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I purchase a pair two years ago, I have feet like flippers so I was worried about the width, they are so comfortable. I am a US 9 and I bought the 43, if you want wiggle room then go higher not lower. I have been a some long rides and had no problems with these riding shoes. Triumph Bonneville SE rider.
How do these compare to the Alpinestars Joey in terms of protection, comfort and breath-ability?
A S on Jul 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Protection seems good, I don't know the Alpinestar Joey (will look after this!). Comfort takes a little getting used to. I was looking for something I could wear to work and all day, that's when the breathability and comfort takes a hit. Wearing them for weekend rides with your friends to go get food and such, these are great for, just because of that extra protection.

This was my first legit motorcycle shoe...had been wearing sneakers and work boots on occasion. In short, good shoe, but not quite the all day thing for me. The toughness compromises the comfort and "sneaker-like" functionality they were going for. I do like them for riding though.
i women a US womens 8, which is normally a 38 in european sizing. What's the deal with this size chart??

Has anyone used Scotchgard™ on these? If so, did it affect them negatively in any way (color/appearance, breathability, etc.)? And did it help to make them more water "resistant"?

I used to wear men's tennis shoes, but after awhile it seemed like they would spread out and make my feet look big. Do these look wide, or narrow?
A shopper on May 17, 2013
BEST ANSWER: They are wide by design but that's just the look of the shoe. It's almost like how Converse don't look any different on men or women.
