Speed and Strength SS1700 Lock and Load Modular Helmet
Best Modular Under $200
I prefer modular because of their convenience when communicating without Bluetooth. I use it for all four seasons and can easily operate every feature with heavy gloves on. DVD aka Drop Down Visor is great and fits my perfectly. Eliminates the need for sunglasses.
Seems to be set up for pin lock, but I cannot get a confirmation anywhere.
Airflow isn't great, but it's adequet. I don't sweat in this helmet in the summer (Over 100 degrees F here), or freeze in the winter (Under 20 degrees F here).

My Very First Helmet
Bought this little guy as my first helmet to get me back into the riding community a while back. Awesome first helmet, especially for its price. Loved the fact that it had a drop-down-visor and the speed clip is a very nice luxury that makes the chin strap super easy to click together even with gloves on. Ventilation is pretty good. My only "complaint" would be that it is a bit on the heavy side, but realistically, I don't care too much about weight.

Amazing Value, Great Product
This is my first, and likely last, modular helmet. First, the video was 100% accurate and so helpful. The helmet is extremely functional, light and has a very wide field of view. The airflow was nice, though it took a bit to get used to from my half-helmet days. I could not be happier with the product for the price- great value.

I agree with the other reviews with one exception the air flow is some what lacking when riding in trafic the sheild fogs and can be fixed by opening the sheild I just think it should have more vents but a good overall

My head size 22 3/4, I'm usually a large on most brand helmets... As per the Revzilla video the SS1700 runs a bit big so I went with the Medium size witch ends at the size of 22 7/8 - just two centimeters bigger than my head size, I was a little worried that it may fit small or tight but it fit perfect! It looks good, not like if I was wearing an extra head, and it feels like a helmet should feel, snug - not tight, air flow was average from what I'm used to, noise was less than I expected. I rode with it today for the first time so I wont comment on durability but I'm sure SS don't make junk, plus the helmet looks like is well built,,, really like the lock mechanism it uses for the shield and the quick release strap is a plus. As always Revzilla has done a magnificent job at the product detailed breakdown video and delivery was quick and on time, keep up the good work fellas.

Awesome Modular with ECE 22-05!
I looked through a lot of helmets (Thank you Anthony for putting together all those videos!) and for my riding style I really wanted an affordable, safe, and good looking modular. This guy fit the bill on all counts.
I have to say that I love this helmet. It's ergonomic, comfortable, and packed with features for the price point. The chin bar mechanism is easy to operate and the drop-visor-design sun shade is freaking sweet. Additionally, S&S's speed strap system is a really overlooked feature as well especially when you have gloves on.
The only thing that I'll comment on is the wind noise starting at about 40mph despite the chin curtain. This is reduced when you close your chin and chimney vents, but you're sacrificing airflow at that point. While it's definitely tolerable, you're definitely not in a vacuum like with some full face helmets with robust chin curtains/neck rolls.
I included some photos to give you a different look than the stock images (sorry for the camera phone quality). Check out the reflectivity on the back vent!

Good Helmet for the $
Cant beat the price on this helmet. The matte finish seems to scratch pretty easy. Its comfortable, a little heavy but that to be expected with a modular helmet. The vision is wide compared to some other helmets. You cant beat the visor.

Does everything i need it to. Looks great and is functional. If i could change one thing, i would change the locking mechanism for the chin bar. It looks like it can be easily broken or bent.
