Overkill, but does what it says The charger works well, but is unneccessary. A timed charger would be just fine. April 8, 2013
Good, but... I've only had this charger a short time so I'm still getting a feel for it. So far it's worked well and my gut feeling is it will continue to do so as long as it's treated with care. I have three concerns- 1- The cables don't appear very durable at all. They use multi-pin connectors, and the vulnerable areas where the wires join the connectors don't have the type of robust reinforcement that I'd expect or want in order to feel OK using them in the context of charging/maintaining a motorcycle battery. I'm planning on putting a couple layers of shrink-wrap on them to ensure good performance. 2- The cables are very short, which is an inconvenience more than a problem, but may contribute to stress on the connectors. 3- The charger itself doesn't appear to be very durably constructed, and certainly isn't waterproof. Perfect Shorai Battery Compliment I bought the Shorai battery as part of an overall plan to reduce the weight of my high performance ZX-14. Since the technology of the battery is different than any conventional lead-acid design, the manafacturer recommends their own dedicated charger. The BMS01 charger is the perfect compliment to the Shorai battery. It has two modes--one for full charge and a second one for long term storage / maintenance mode. Both modes include a "balancing" function that equalizes the charge across all of the cells in the battery, thereby maximizing the performance and longevity of the battery. The install was a snap and the charger has worked just as advertized. The fit and finish is excellent and the product appears to be very well designed. I'm very happy with it. I would highly recommend this charger to anyone who has or is considering a Shorai battery. Revzilla is great to work with and is always my first choice for motorcycle gear and parts. January 2, 2013
