love this helmet! This helmet is awesome I really fell in love with it. Believe it or not it's a good commuting helmet in my opinion (I ride with it everyday) and an even better track helmet. It's fairly light, comfortable especially for track helmet and quiet when the vents are closed, which brings me to my only little con its a little loud at high speeds when the vents are open, wich for me is almost all the time because I don't like when my visor fogs up I mean who does right. But other than that this helmet is marvelous and would not only recommend it but would buy it again if had the option. December 5, 2014
Its no x11, but its pretty good Good solid fit, and light. Had it for a year now and cant get over the fact that It whistles like a banshee no matter what I do. Required smaller cheek pads out of the box as well. Maybe the x11 spoiled me, no whistling and fit perfect with stock pads. August 31, 2014
Pretty much perfect!!! I bought a shoei x12 because i wanted the best track helmet money could buy and im positive i got it. I take a size L and its a snug, firm fit without being over tight, and the linings are super comfortable. The field of vision is amazing, i can see pretty much everything that i can see without a helmet on. The weight is also really good, not too heavy but not light either which i think is a testament to the quality and durability. I also was told by the lads where i bought it that Shoei wind tunnel test them to 300kmh. The x12 is a little bit louder than my GT-Air as far as wind noise goes, but in my opinion thats a part of the thrill of going fast is hearing that wind screaming by your head. The ventilation is also pretty good, not as good as some but it will still keep your head at a good temp and your visor fog free. I was a little bit spooked by the price tag at first, but after using one i believe they are worth every cent, every time i ride im completely confident my head has the best of the best protection on the market. Overall I honestly can't speak highly enough about the x12. If you have the coin, get one.... August 13, 2014
Nice and cool. I only bought it because I had the money and it was so cool looking. Revzilla didn't have my model so I'm writing this review under the solid model. I've only had Shoe helmets so I don't know any better. I owned the RF-1100 as my first helmet. They didn't have one in stock so I bought the X-12. I thought there was something wrong with it at first because it is so noisy. It sucks because I can hardly hear my iPod over all of the noise. In Albuquerque it's all about air flow. I always recommend shoe. They feel good. They look good. July 22, 2014
I got this helmet at a great price under clearance This is one of the best helmet I've ever owned. I got a MEDIUM size. The helmet is a bit loose on the forehead. It tilts down when I'm in a full tuck position. I think i need to get a Small inferior. Overall, I'm extremely happy with it. July 8, 2014
Great helmet got the helmet yesterday and hit the roads this morning after mounting a spectra mirrored shield. Love the air flow! Slightly more wind noise than my GT Air June 14, 2014
Sick helmet Love this helmet. Fits perfect in all aspects and who doesn't love the American paint job. Winner! May 27, 2014
NOT TO IMPRESSED Well here is the deal, i think shoei had it right with the X11 helmet, this helmet weighs more and is louder imo. I have owned both so i believe i would be able to tell, if i had to do over might have bought Arai or Icon. Just was not to impressed, maybe im hard to please... April 1, 2014

MIchael Y: I own the Shoei X-11. It's been a great helmet and a great fit. It's almost six years old so it's time to replace it. Jul 18, 2014
Stuart K: One of the best quality helmets. Who wants to go cheap quality on your head...right? Jun 14, 2014
matthew l: showroom salesman detailed discussion of fit, intended use, and safety May 8, 2014
Carl G: The main reason i purchased is the quality of these helmets. I was wearing an X-11 which saved my life, so yes SHOEI all the way. Mar 14, 2014
David S: Track and road helmet. Done 2 track days so far, this helmet is amazing. Super comfortable, stable at high speeds, light. Brilliant helmet. Dec 13, 2013
Luke M: Shoei's reputation for making some of the highest quality helmets combined with the numerous features and options the X-Twelve has built into it, is what made this a worthy investment for me. Aug 22, 2013
Charles Gabriel C asked: are all cheekpads on the x-12 35mm? I'm choosing between XS and S, not sure which one to get.

I bought XS Bell RS-1 and it was fairly hard to put on, my eyes widen - almost like the liners are pulling it away from each other when it is worn.

Ken C: The X-12 is a racing helmet and meant to fit tightly. That said there is much adjustability in changing cheek pads. My wife likes the fit of an XS, but only after swapping the stock 35MM pads for 31s. She can barely even get the helmet on with the 35s. I wear a size L on the other hand and am happy with the stock 35MM pads in it. Feb 6, 2014

Charles Gabriel C: are shell sizes on XS and S the same? If I ever did get one, and can't return it, can swapping the cheekpads help? Dec 28, 2013
Isaac B asked: Hi I'm torn here, not sure weather to get the X-12 or the new RF1200, price is not really a concern my concerns are 2 fold.
1: air flow, which has better air flow? I'm a sport bike rider most times I'm in the tuck, when not in the tuck i usually have the visor open(slower speeds.

2, shell sizes, I'm a XS, 21 inches exactly. so the more shell sizes the better as if there are only a few(2-3 shell sizes), in the XS size i look like a bobble head.

Currently I"m using the Nexx carbon XR1.R, nice helmet but i kinda of have that bobble head look with the helmet looking disproportionate with my body even with full gear.

Thanks!

Ken C: I have no personal experience with the RF 1200. That said I have plenty of time with the X-12. I've had two and my wife has had three. It is a racing helmet and designed to be comfortable at higher speeds. Its fit is tight and it doesn't move no matter how strong the wind blast. You can turn your head all the way to the side at 80 with the shield half open and there is no drag and the helmet and the shield will not move one bit. There is also zero lift at speed. The chin strap will never attempt to strangle you. I think the airflow is great, but again I've not worn an RF 1200.
You asked about shell sizing. My wife wears a XS and looks fine to me. No bubble head here. But beware the standard cheek pads in the XS are 35mm thick. These are so tight that she has to struggle to get the helmet on and off and they push her face into a pucker. She much prefers 31mm pads.

Jonathan B: The X-12 has been a great helmet. I have owned 2.

The RF1200 is good too. I have owned an RF1000 at one point.

The X-12 is a premium helmet. Very quiet. Flows a ton of air.

I believe there are multiple shell sizes. I have the small and its proportions are good.

Did I say it was light? It's very light!

Go get it. You won't regret.

A shopper asked: I currently wear a Shoei RF1100 and the fit for my head shape is perfect(XXL).I would like to upgrade to an X12.Can I expect roughly the same fit. Jun 1, 2012

scott2055: Hi,

I have owned both an RF1100 (past) and X-12 (current). Both were size Medium and both fit my head similarly. I found that there was more room between the chin bar and my nose/face with the RF1100 -- this could be due to the shape of the helmet or the way the X-12 sits on my head.

JTSmith: I wear a large in both, but the X12 has much better aero-dynamics. Apr 22, 2013

A shopper asked: I am buying a HD trike within a month. Although the speed limit is only 55 mph, what Shoei helmet would you recommend I wear? Aug 28, 2011

vic68: in my opinion, its up to you, about which do you prefer, the full face, flip up, or the half face. But take a look at ur description of the speed limit, i prefer the QWEST for the full face, as you don't need the full aerodynamic helmet like xr1100 or x12 Feb 23, 2012

sdzx10r: It really depends on the shape of your head. The shoei is a wonderful helmet, it's not for people that have a more round head. Aug 28, 2011

A shopper asked: I just saw that Arai had introduced the Signet Q line of helmets to cater to riders with long oval (i. e. long and narrow) head shapes. The Shoei X-12 is supposedly a medium round oval. Which Shoei models cater to long oval heads?
Can you include the general shape of the helmet in your product database as a field so when I'm perusing through your inventory I can narrow my search by that?

Thanks,

Henrik

RevZilla: We find the X-12 Helmet to have an "Intermediate Oval" or "Neutral" fit and the RF-1100 to be better accomodating for "Long-Oval" or "Narrow" head shapes. It is not as narrow as the Arai Signet-Q but is currently the best long-oval option from Shoei.

Feel free to also check out the customer review section and see what shape the X-12 and RF-1100 owners find them to be.
