The X-12 BC (before crash)
This is my second one, first was identical to this one. Went down on the track last year at 80+ mph, totaled the bike, trashed the leathers, but the helmet limited the impact to a mild concussion. The crash was so spectacular they called in the medical helicopter, but after a little while my head cleared and I was released. Thanks for my head Shoei!

OK, first, I have a "Shoei head"--they fit my head shape. I've used them for years. I have a perfectly good X-11, but my AMAZING WIFE bought me the Blue Kagayama 3 X-12 for our anniversary--it matches my FJR1300. Anyhow, I was surprised that I could feel the difference between the X-12 and the X-11. The crown just fits my head more "precisely" than did the X-11. The biggest difference, though is in the visor mechanism. It just snaps into place tighter and the movement detents seem ever so much more refined. I know that's a little thing, but this helmet just exudes precise engineering. As with the X-11, it is feather light, flows really well and is really quiet. It feels a little more aerodynamic too, above 100mph, but the X-11 was no slouch in that department. Overall, I'd say that the X-12 is a nice, subtle, evolutionary step towards building the ultimate motorcycle helmet. One last thing: I don't think a day goes by that I don't get a "nice helmet" from strangers I pass.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Purchased this to match my new 2011 Tri-Color BMW S1000RR! Also because I trust SHOEI Helmets carshed tested the RF-1100 twice unfortunately...In addition I have a large head and SHOEI makes different shell sizes which rather than just different pad thicknesses as some others brands do to accomodate for larger size heads. This helmet fits nice and snug even at speeds 170+. It's also track rated per the new standard. Kinda of pricy but then again so is my head after all I'm a rocket scientist. :-) W. This helmet like most full face is kinda a pain for the shorter rides but when your riding any kind of distance this helmet is where its at. Its comfortable, breathable, quiet, aerodynamic, and very easy to use. It does everything i hoped it would.

I had my bike and helmet stolen, so it was time to replace both. I really love the X-Eleven, so I went to a local helmet shop and tried on a number of different helmets and found the X-Twelve fits me perfectly, just like the X-Eleven did. I have an oblonged shaped head, not round so it fits me just right, If I try on an ICON helmet it is very uncomfortable on the top front of my forehead, so that might give you an idea of how it fits.
Checked the web and found RevZilla had the Martyr for a killer close out price and it was a color and design that matched my new 2011 Black Hayabusa.
Now putting on the breath deflector is a bit of a pain and it will partly come off with very little contact. Now I carry it from time to time by the chin bar, so this can irritating. Not a deal breaker, just something to know. The breath deflector seems to be shorter (not as tall as the X-Eleven's) and doesn't seem to deflect as much breath away from the inside of the shield.
With my X-Eleven the fog on the inside of the shield could build up while sitting at a light on a cooler or damp morning or in the rain, but it would clear up within a few feet of taking off. The X-Twelve fogs a lot more in those conditions and even with all the vents open and the shield with the small crack at the bottom using the lever on the left side it fogs some even while moving down the road, unless you tilt the whole helmet up slightly, so the deflector covers a little more of your nose.
Another thing I've notice is it whistles when you turn your head slightly, seems to be coming from the lower front vent and it might be from others, but I can't tell for sure yet.
Other than that this helmet fits me perfectly and is very comfortable. I've gone down 3 times wearing an X-Eleven and it took all the abuse each time had to give and I excaped any head injury, (well don't ask my friends or employees, they might tell you differently, ha ha). This helmet is constructed just as well or better as the X-Eleven, so I feel very safe wearing it. Now I'm one of those guys that wears full gear (boots, gloves, jacket and pants, the whole enchilada year around when ever I drive - yea mesh for the hot days and perf'ed leather or textile for the cooler days and full naked leather for the rest of the year.), so feeling safe is a big deal.
Fianlly I've only put 200 miles on the bike and wearing this helmet, so I may come up with more info down the road.
RIde safe everyone
Blaine in Orlando.
Anyway, this is a killer helmet and you'll be glad you spent the money.

The only thing better than the helmet was the buying experience. Videos made it easy but the price made me do it. Revzilla was lower than everybody. Oh and BTW, it was here in two days. Phenomenal guys, thanks.

To be fair, you must compare a helmet in this price range with those equally expensive, so I'm comparing it to my Arai Corsair V and Bell Star. Overall, the Star is the still the most comfortable of the three, but the X-12 beats both the Star and the Corsair V in every other category. It fits as advertised, has incredible vision, and is very quiet at high speed (100+ and I could still hear myself think, even in a head check). Ventilation is superior to both of the other helmets. Quality of construction is superb. The real show stopper is the finish. The graphics are so beautiful that you are tempted not to wear it at the risk of putting a blemish on the thing. Overall, its a lot of money, but when you wear it, you know you are very protected and riding in style.
Yes, I recommend this product.

First time buying Shoei, first time spending 700 dollars on a helmet. When I first saw the helmet I was very impressed, the design is beautiful. The weight is light and is fits just right. The airflow is amazing, I will say the original face shield fogs up all the time. Strongly reccommend the cw-1 pin lock face shield. Helmet is worth the money, I feel safe and comfortable when riding. Definitely a great product and I will continue to order Shoei.
