Absolutely the best safety money can buy. Being able to see is paramount to your safety. Of all the various anti fog treatments I've tried, this is the only that that has worked. I've tried other appliques, gels, you name it, nothing beats this. Installation is easier than all those too. I live in Seattle, and we certainly have our share of high humidity days. Even breathing directly on this shield produced no fogging at all. On one ride I thought maybe the weather wasn't bad enough, until I realized that the extreme border of the faceshield (between the edge of the insert and the helmet itself) was completely opaque. Get this, live longer. April 21, 2015
Impossible to see through I bought this product at the advice of a local shop Cycle Gear. I researched it online and it makes sense that this product would reduce fogging by design. However, I had a very difficult time seeing through the lens and the fogging was worse than without it. The first time I tried it the weather was cold, 40 degrees or so around 3 pm in Nashville TN. 20 min into my trip I had to rip this thing off my helmet because it was becoming a safety hazard. I cleaned it over and over re read the instructions, watched some you tube videos and reinstalled the product on my visor with the same results. In short, i threw it in the trash. I do not recommend this product. April 6, 2015
scratches easy and distorts vision. pinlock worked great for fog. I noticed at night would blur vision from street lights and break lights. as far as durability I changed it out from clear lens to tinted lens about five times and is now scratched to an unusable condition. Maybe the way to go is to buy one for each lens!! March 21, 2015
worst every buck a very good thing for a cold weather, struggled a lil bit with fitting the lens inside the shield, but after reading the manual there were no problems. Very god vision February 23, 2015
Pinlock? duh! If your visor is compatible with the pinlock, just buy it. Never fog up again. Make sure to install it with clean hands and away from any potential dust or debris that may fall onto the visor. Also, be careful when cleaning as they scratch if using ammonia based cleaners. February 23, 2015
Must Have with Shoei Pin-lock Never had a fogging issue ever with the Shoei Pin-lock Insert. Don't be intimidated; it is very easy to install - just follow the directions provided, and I can assure you the insert will work like a charm. February 9, 2015
Does stop the fogging issues, but... Let me first say that it has completely eliminated the fogging issues I've been having in the colder weather. Installation was easy and thing works how its designed to. Only reason why I knocked off one star was because of it showing a double image when riding at night. Since there is two piece of optics now, some of the light gets bounced around and causes a double image of what ever light source comes through the visor. Its not a major problem in a tuck and you'll eventually get used to it, but just a warning for people. January 31, 2015
Pricey yet effective Shoei has simply put basic laws of physics to deliver a brilliant product which truly delivers what it stands for. However, the biggest regret clearly remains the price. The whole set of pinlock face shield, pinlock ready lens, breath guard & chin curtain will set you back by a good $97!! leaving a frowned face?? Bought this piece to go with my dark smoke pinlock face shield (for the Qwest Overt Helmet) which works amazing for us here in India, especially given the humid conditions. This time while using it in winters is also working great. All in all, its an excellent product (though stinkingly pricey) from Shoei. January 23, 2015

Andres R: I use the ProTec Tint Insert day & night. It's photo-chromatic & really works. It reacts to the UV light rather timely. I don't know why Revzilla won't sell it. I've had mine almost a year. It never fogs up, goes dark when it's sunny, & clears up when it's dark out. I haven't changed my visor since. You have to order it straight from the manufacture, mind you they are in the U.K. so it takes longer than usual to receive it, but it's worth the wait! Mar 26, 2014

Peter F: According to Shoei, they will only be made in clear. This is part of a DOT (Department of Transportation) regulation due to diminished light transmission from the pinlock insert, even with the clear installed. Shoei actually suggests removing the clear pinlock at night for better visibility. Remember..the Neotec and the GT Air have drop down sun shields built into the helmets. I have a Neotec and have never had a problem in sun, rain, clouds...with the clear pinlock combined with the drop down sun shield.

Ride safe!

Anatole L asked: Does the lens insert come with replacement Pinlock pins to connect it to the shield? Jan 8, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kenneth B: It has been some time since I purchased the lens insert, but I do not believe that it came with replacement pins. I looked at the instructions that came with the lens, and there are directions for adjusting/rotating the pins, but not for replacing them. If the pins are broken, I suspect that you will have to buy a new faceshield, in which case it may be cheaper to buy the faceshield and lens together. Jan 9, 2015

Anatole L: This is obviously not the place for this "discussion", but I guess my questions are not clear. The pins are removable and I am missing one of the pins, so I would like to know if they can be purchased from Revzilla. Jan 8, 2015

Eric S asked: My pinlock lost its seal on the bottom. What do I need to do to re-install it and have it properly adhere - or does it need to be replaced ? Mar 18, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Mark D: I just started using my pinlock system a few weeks ago. In order to keep the interior from fogging the seal must be in place and in tact to create a dead space of air between the lenses to provide insulation between air outside the helmet and air inside the helmet. I don't know if it can be reattached but I would contact Shoei to see if there is a fix or buy a new interior lense. Hope this helps. Mar 18, 2014
