Pinlock? A must! There's no riding in temps bellow 70F without a pinlock lens. Visors fog at stops, at low speeds, almost no exception. Happens on my Shoei (RF-1200), happens on my Arai (Signet-Q). Enter the pinlock lens, and the fog is gone. For good. I do like, however, the Shoei solution best. Shoei only offers a (single) clear pinlock lens, so you can combine it with different color/shade shields. Arai, on the other hand, offers different colored pinlocks that can be paired only to a clear shield. So, no pinlock for a smoke shade visor...:-( Shoei really got it right here. July 21, 2014
AWESOME! If your helmet fogs up all the time this is the only way to go. A little expensive for the set, but well worth it. July 14, 2014
Awesome enhancement to RF-1200 Since my roommate who currently owns an RF-1100 and often has to flip up his visor due to fogging, it's very nice to be able to have my visor down most if not all the time and not have to worry about dealing with fog. If you have an RF-1200, this item should be a must. June 27, 2014
Don't Listen to the Bad Reviews These are great. If it rains or if its cold you never have to worry about your shield fogging up. Some people were saying there is a bad glare/reflection at night. Well, if you read the directions they say "Do not use at night" I leave mine in all the time. It's just a reflection from the headlights shining through the face shield then reflecting off the pinlock lens then back onto the face shield. It doesn't bother me at all. June 23, 2014
This product works exactly as advertised. The pin lock shield is wedged against the inside of your face shield and forms an air tight pocket between it and the shield. It does not fog up with your breath and in high humidity. It creates a clear view through the shield. June 16, 2014
great pin lock I got this as a extra one. In the RF1200 Inception/Mirrored Gold lens. It fits great. A bit hard to put in. It combats fogging in HOT weather and I can happily say that problem is gone. I ride in 97% Humidity with temperatures of 80+ works great. June 4, 2014
Does its job I bought this to combat fogging in cold weather and I can happily say that problem is gone, but it has presented a new issue. When trying to lift the visor on my Shoei Qwest the inner lens catches the rubber gasket on the helmet making it very difficult to lift the visor and if I have gloves on it's almost impossible. It is a small problem compared to the problems associated with not using it. May 29, 2014
Replacement Part I got tired of swapping the pinlock lens between my tinted and clear visor so I bought a spare. Does exactly what it's supposed to, I just don't know why it's so expensive ($15 more and I could have had a new shield; without lens of course). May 19, 2014

A shopper asked: Will this lens ever come in different shades other than clear? For example, Hi-viz Orange or Dark Smoke? Feb 4, 2014

Peter F: According to Shoei, they will only be made in clear. This is part of a DOT (Department of Transportation) regulation due to diminished light transmission from the pinlock insert, even with the clear installed. Shoei actually suggests removing the clear pinlock at night for better visibility. Remember..the Neotec and the GT Air have drop down sun shields built into the helmets. I have a Neotec and have never had a problem in sun, rain, clouds...with the clear pinlock combined with the drop down sun shield.

Ride safe!

Andres R: I use the ProTec Tint Insert day & night. It's photo-chromatic & really works. It reacts to the UV light rather timely. I don't know why Revzilla won't sell it. I've had mine almost a year. It never fogs up, goes dark when it's sunny, & clears up when it's dark out. I haven't changed my visor since. You have to order it straight from the manufacture, mind you they are in the U.K. so it takes longer than usual to receive it, but it's worth the wait! Mar 26, 2014

Eric S asked: My pinlock lost its seal on the bottom. What do I need to do to re-install it and have it properly adhere - or does it need to be replaced ? Mar 18, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Mark D: I just started using my pinlock system a few weeks ago. In order to keep the interior from fogging the seal must be in place and in tact to create a dead space of air between the lenses to provide insulation between air outside the helmet and air inside the helmet. I don't know if it can be reattached but I would contact Shoei to see if there is a fix or buy a new interior lense. Hope this helps. Mar 18, 2014

ALEXANDRU G: I'm sorry , but I live In Connecticut and since I purchase my pinlock lens in December I didn't ride only once or twice because we had a bad winter but so far mine works just fine and did not lost the seal Mar 18, 2014

Peter F: Eric:

The pinlock insert need to be replaced. Easiest and safest way to go.
