- Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation. The spring-loaded base plate (U.S. patent pending 11/799935) pulls the shield back into contact with the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
- The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
- Optional, CWF-1 two-dimensional racing shields with tear-off posts are available

We switched out the clear shields (will use at night) for these and theyare great for AZ riding - even in hazy conditions. Really cut the sun.

Great for afternoon rides to, and evening rides back. The Gradient feature could only be topped by a Transitions-type auto darkening lens like the Bell helmets have.

This shield is a perfect replacement for the stock clear shield. I have a VERY hard time without sunglasses when it's sunny outside - I practically consider myself to be blind. I needed a dark shield to help me out on sunny days. This helps out quite a bit, but is still a little too light in direct sun. Regardless, it's a huge improvement, snaps in like a charm, and is offered at a great price through RevZilla. Would definitely buy again.

Works fine. Close to $50 is a lot I think after you've bought the $400 helmet already.
From reading the reviews it was unclear to me whether I should go with light smoke or dark smoke. Revzilla customer service advised DARK smoke and they were right.
I would say that the dark smoke visor is about equal to a medium pair of sunglasses. I was worried about cloudy days and transition from sunny to shady areas and the dark visor is fine for both of those conditions. I haven't tried at night and don't plan to.
Looking directly into the sun is still bright but this visor cuts down considerably on "ambient" bright light and especially glare.
I'm very glad I didn't get the light smoke.

This dark smoke visor is a must have with any SHoei RF1100 - along with the superb clear visor it sets the rider up for all conditions - and of course the shoei visor change is so fast and simple no tools just click and its done - excellent

I have the dark smoke and as long as it's daylight out you'll be able to see fine even under the shade. I live in NYC and I can ride with the dark smoke at night with just the city lights (I usually leave it open) but I'd say in daylight under shade that would overall be brighter than just city lights at night.It def won't be as clear as the clear shield but you won't have any trouble with the dark smoke during the day. It's about the same as pair of dark tinted sunglasses I would say.
