The new Shoei CW-1 Face Shields fits Shoei Qwest, Shoei RF1100 and Shoei X-12 Helmets
Features:
- Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation. The spring-loaded base plate (U.S. patent pending 11/799935) pulls the shield back into contact with the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
- The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
- Optional, CWF-1 two-dimensional racing shields with tear-off posts are available
- Scratch-resistant coating
- 99.9% protection from harmful UV A and B rays
- Optional, CW-1 Pinlock® prepared shields are available to accommodate Pinlock® Fog Free Inserts
- A pre-set lever can easily lock the shield in place to prevent the shield from opening unexpectedly, as well as prop the shield open to increase airflow

Relief!!!!
I have been only riding for a year and bought a Shoei Qwest last summer. I lived with squinting all that time. I could not get a pair of sunglasses on with my helmet. Bought this and relief!!!! Now I have to figure out how to carry a spare shield with me. Dohhh.. Looking back I should have bought a helment with an integrated sun visor.

A must have!
if you own a helmet, you must have a tinted visor.. is much comfortable than wearing glases! just remember to be back home before night !

Works as advertised
It has tighter stops/detents than the one I use on my RF1000 and this will allow the sheild to stay up at higher speeds (the RF1000 shied will close when you might not want it to).

Dark Smoke
Great product! I needed a new faceshield because I wear glasses and the sun bothers me. The dark smoke shield works perfectly. No more squinting!

Great Faceshield
I have to leave for work early, so I was worried that this would be too dark, however, I was pleasantly surprised when I rode in the first morning. Not too dark at all, plus it's great on sunny days as well. Has eliminated my need for sunglasses.

Dark Smoke. Tint is just right.
I ordered the dark smoke version a little apprehensively. I wasn't sure if it would be so dark that it would interfere in the evenings/nights or if it would be too light and not give me any added benefit when its sunny. Hence being a waste of my money and make me look like im trying too hard to appear like a tough guy. After using the dark smoke face shield for the past few weeks i can honestly say that i love it. The tint is plenty dark so my eyes are not bothered by the sun and it is light enough that i am comfortable riding with it in the evenings/night. Looks are a bonus. I've recently been getting lots of compliments on how mean my helmet looks with the new face shield(matte black X-twelve).

That's a tough comparison as tint's can vary depending on many factors. The Shoei CW-1 Faceshield in Dark Smoke is definitely dark, dark enough where you can't see anything if you get stuck with it at night. Hopefully that helps.9 months ago

How dark is the dark tint? Live in the Pacific NW and it's not always that sunny plus there's lot of shades from trees.

Want to know if this is to dark for the overcast skies and rides with lotes of shades from trees. Can you see the road clearly as to avoid pot holes, bump and other obstacles? I'm concern that the road won't be seen as clearly as a clear lense.

The dark smoke is quite dark, so you may prefer a light or mellow smoke instead. My recommendation would actually be the Amber/Yellow colors as they improve contrast in cloudy conditions and help to see beyond shadows.Age: 25-34

I have the dark smoke and as long as it's daylight out you'll be able to see fine even under the shade. I live in NYC and I can ride with the dark smoke at night with just the city lights (I usually leave it open) but I'd say in daylight under shade that would overall be brighter than just city lights at night.It def won't be as clear as the clear shield but you won't have any trouble with the dark smoke during the day. It's about the same as pair of dark tinted sunglasses I would say.
