Shinko 016 Verge 2X Front Tires
Really good tire
Went from a badly cupped PR2 with a ton of miles to this Shinko. I wasn't expecting much, but I've been really happy. I went for a 1000 mile trip in the mountains (Cherohala west to east, Dragon, 28 through Fontana) and the tire did great. Just getting to Tellico at 5am, in the rain, up 68 was a really good test of the tire. I have no complaints. It performed as well as or better than any tire I've ever had (usually PR2 or PR3). When the weather dried out, the tire still did great. Feedback was perfect and when it did start to move, it moved predictably and controlled. I have about 2000 miles of mixed back roads and highway and it looks brand new. Unless I have some reason, I think I'm sold on Shinkos.

Much better than expected
I installed these tires on my FZ1 before heading to the Sturgis Rally so that I did not waste the Michelin PR3's on a mostly interstate ride. These held up really well for 5000 to 6000 miles in 10 days. The center did have a flat center on the front and rear after all of the Interstate riding. However, these seem to be a rather soft compound so a couple of day rides around the Northeast on some twisty roads almost have them rounded out again. I should get another 2000 or so miles out of them. Can't beat it for a pair of dual compound tires under $200.

Worth the price and then some...

I was looking for a cheap set of tires as I knew I was going to be burning them off quickly and why not try the New Shinko Dual Compound. The Shinko’s have a pleasant feeling, turning in - the front profile was quicker and the rear was similar to the PR4 and were very easy to get use to fast.
My concern with these tires - was longevity on this long haul journey, it was fast paced, and a basic straight line test; which these tires did without flaw, hassle or complaints and held up very well. They provided a confident riding feel, and zero noise from the first to the last km ridden. I did notice at about the 4,000km mark that the center arrow on the rear tire had all but disappeared; This concerned me from the start, and wondering if I was was going to be buying another rear before I returned home. If you look carefully at the tread blocks however there is still plenty of material to outlast the second and third arrow from the edge. More of an allusion than anything but did loose the first sipes quickly.
The ride was straight line and very little curves other than about 3,000km of mild to mid curves, so to be able to compliment them on their aggressive performance street style abilities I can’t. I would now however consider them for this purpose after this test.
I saw a lot of heavy rain, where the tractor tracks were deep and pooled inches deep. I did many many hours of this level of rain and these tires had excellent traction, tracked very sure footed with confidence, riding with moderate spirit on a big weighted down sport tourer. They slipped once into a corner over a snake but was expected and recovered as expected – otherwise zero complaints.
Negatives – If I would have to make a comment, some very minor scalping on the rear tire – no noise or odd effects however. Also the squaring of both tires which is to be expected, left a decent sized ridge that made right corners noticeably bad on shoulder, but after you get past that point it ran with confidence going deeper into the corner. Rear very stiff to install and remove unlike most tires I've installed
After this personal experience I will consider them strongly next time again. I am a firm believer to buy the best tires you can afford and normally shy away from cheap stuff, but I’m glad I tried these tires.
Looking at the tires now you could very well do another 3,000km fairly easily in my estimation. I will be tossing them to run something a little newer over the rainy season, because that’s just make sense to me. They did what they were intended to do with great results and already paid me back the whooping $202 price tag I originally paid for them. Job Well Done !!

I bought this tire just to have something to ride on while my Michelin PR-4 front tire was sent back to see if they will replace it due to an severe cupping issue. I took it thru some mountain twisties the other day and pushed my GSF1250 S Bandit to the limit and the tire gripped perfectly...much better than the PR-4.Dry traction is excellent, I have not had a chance to ride it in the rain yet. It's smooth, quite and very grippy...no chicken strips and no slipping. Not just a good tire for the money, but a good tire period. 1000 miles and wear is excellent.

Great Tire for the price
Great tire for the price. After I scrubbed the tires in (100 Miles) I had to ride 300 miles for some military training. The first 100 miles was in heavy and light mixed rain. Tires worked excellent without any slip (55MPH and less the whole time.... a little wet....).
Next ride was on HWY 16 in Texas from San Antonio to Fredericksburg TX. mix of high speed corners and tight hill country roads. Tires were flawless. A little slip pushing on the very edge but nothing you cant handle.
Overall great tire for the price and with 1000 miles there is no show of where.... yet
