REV'IT! Seesoft Back Protector Insert Videos

REVIT Seesoft Back Protector Insert

The revolutionary new REVIT See Soft CE-Level 2 back protector is designed to absorb multiple impacts without compromising on comfort, ventilation or freedom of movement. The highly impact-resistant blend of Nitrille and Polynorbornene rubber results in a memory foam that is multi-impact rated and CE Certified to the highest level of prEN 1621-2:2010 level 2.

In the case of severe angular impact, the individual Memory Foam layers will shift relative to one another, resulting in impact dispersion over a larger effective surface area and therefore minimizing the energy that is transmitted to the spine and back. The Seesoft back protector performs extremely consistently in all weather conditions and is unaffected by temperature ranges from -4° F to +104° F (-20° C to +40° C).

Most REV'IT jackets are designed to accommodate a Seesoft CE Level 2 back protector insert. Newer jackets will have a marking on the protector pocket that indicates the matching type and size of the protector.

Fits fine in jacket I would recommend this, even though the chance of spinal injury in an accident is low, according to a study I reviewed. It's just not worth taking the chance because the life impact would be so huge. October 20, 2014
mental safety The product fit well in my jacket. The added protection so far is mental. Luckily I have not had to test the product. September 23, 2014
Stealthy protection coming to a back near you. I've been riding around for about 3 weeks with this protector installed into the back of my REV'IT Roamer leather jacket. The temperature here has been between 60 and 90 degrees during that time. To be honest, I forgot that the back protector was inside of my jacket until Revzilla sent me an email asking me to review it. It is virtually invisible from the outside of the jacket while I am wearing it and while it is hanging in the closet. I do not feel that it is there, and it never seems hot or cold. Couldn't ask for more from a back protector! September 22, 2014
just as advertised Works perfect in my Rev'it Tornado Jacket. Great product. September 15, 2014
A must if you have REV'IT jackets True to size per manufacture's specs. Comfortable as long as you obtained the right sized jacket from REV'IT (which I did). I recommend reviewing the video for jacket sizing in order to ensure you get the correct size. Great airflow and comfortable. You won't notice it after the first ride anymore. September 15, 2014
Weight This insert is very heavy for use in a mesh jacket. Very uncomfortable to wear. Restricts air flow. September 15, 2014
Can barely tell it's there most of the time. I bought this as added protection on my daily rides. It feels as though it would help when needed, but I haven't tested it out yet. It did fit perfectly in my Sand 2 jacket. It took a little bit of wiggling & giving it a gentle curve to get it I to the pocket but it went. I ride a Versys so it's an upright position so I don't really notice the protector. I added this before having taken my sand 2 out for a ride so I can't say if it restricts airflow at all, but it doesn't seem to. I gave high ratings overall and for protection based on the fit/feel of the quality. September 15, 2014
Solid back protector Nice quality, comfortable, and fits well in Rev'IT Outback jacket. Haven't had any hard falls yet with it, but one minor one. Worked as intended. September 7, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi, I just ordered a Rev'it Redhook jacket in size 48. I was wondering if I buy a seesoft back protector rv insert should I go up one size on the jacket? How much space will the back protector take up? Never bought anything like this before so I have no experience of this. Apr 19, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Kenneth B S: In my opinion, the back protector insert did not take up much room in my current riding jacket (Ignition 2), so for me there was no need to go up a size in order to accomodate the insert.

I did some quick research on the Redhook, and it looks like it can easily accomodate the insert since it is not a "race fit" jacket. I would stick with your current size and try the insert...if it feels restrictive you can always bump up to the next size jacket (returns with Revzilla are super easy).
Hope this helps!!!

John H: I too ran into an issue with a protector that was slightly larger than the space on my Revit jacket. Kat from the showroom said I could just use the stock protector as a template and cut down the larger protector. Worked like a charm and is very comfortable. Feb 18, 2014

Patrick J: I have a Rev'it Tornado Jacket and bought the Type KN / Size: 106 as a replacement for that jacket's standard back protector. It fit perfectly. I found the sizing by looking at the back protector chart which tells the style and sizing at
http://www.revzilla.com/assets/0000/5918/20140113-Seesoft_Fitting_Chart_-_Update.pdf

Michael L: I would ask the folks at Revzilla for their advice about cutting the back protector to fit your jacket. I added a REV'IT Seesoft Back Protector Insert, Type RV / Size: 05 to my Sand 2 Hi-Viz Jacket, size XL. The back protector fits my jacket perfectly, and it's very comfortable. Dec 10, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
James S: Dimensions in inches for the Seesoft back protector, Type RV, Size 05:
19 5/16" L x 8 7/8"W upper section, 6 5/8"W lower section x 5/8" thick.

I have found it to be comfortable enough to wear that I soon forgot that the back protector was in there instead of the original piece of foam. It is very flexible and east to get into the pocket.

A shopper asked: I just bought a Rev'It Concorde jacket which is supposed to fit a Seesoft RV size 05 back protector. However, this size (or really most sizes and models except perhaps an RV size 6) are out of stock everywhere I've checked. Firstly, though this [perhaps isn't the place to ask, I'd like to know when they'll be available, secondly, since I'm not really that choosy, what other available back protector will fit the jacket? The design (and the sewn-in pocket for it) seems much narrower than other back protectors. And while this is a for in-town commuting only, I would still prefer to have some protection on my back. Thanks. Sep 25, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jeffrey D: I would tend to doubt that you will be able to trim these back protectors due to their construction. There are multiple layers that slip against each other to provide flexibility in addition to layered impact protection.

That said, I'm not sure what the actual size difference amounts to between the 05 & 06.

Reply to Jeffrey Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Robert B: It might be possible but it could be tricky. The protector has layered foam as per the catalog picture and trimming it could end up trying to cut through several layers of foam. If you can get the dimensions of size 5 and 6 you might be able to get a better sense of how much trimming might be required. Jun 24, 2014

ashok M: Thanks Rob and Jeff. I think problem is trimming 50MM in length and 15MM is width.

Wayne H: It is just a matter of measuring the back protector pocket in your jacket and looking at the dimensions of the various pads to determine which one will fit best.

I use mine in a Rev'it! jacket and it is extremely comfortable.

Tom W asked: I want to upgrade the back protector in my Defender Jacket. Which has better protection/comfort? Seesoft or Sastec? Feb 22, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David G: I purchased my Seesoft protector to replace a KNOX TP2 fitted to my Cayenne Pro jacket. I had found the Knox way too hot in the Australian summer through not allowing adequate or any airflow out of the back having no air vent holes in the protector. I have been extremely happy with my Seesoft which has now been fitted to my jacket over 12 months. I recently rode 5000km in 2 1/2 weeks through temps approaching 40 degrees Celsius and never had a problem feeling overheated across the back and wanting for more air circulation. The Seesoft is also extremely flexible with its multi-layer construction adding to the comfort factor. I rate the Seesoft very highly due to the great flexibility; high airflow rates due to the large number of vent holes; and the CN Level 2 protection. A+++ Feb 25, 2014

Douglas H: Without measuring, I'd guess they're fairly close in thickness, but the Seesoft will compress a bit if need be while the Knox won't (I own both.) The Seesoft is actually a little cooler-wearing. They're both excellent, but I find the Seesoft more comfy overall. Dec 10, 2013

Charles G: A little heavier, similar footprint, with very little difference in thickness. Next level up in protection potential. Compares very favorably to Forcefield BackPad Insert Pro. (I own both of them.) Nov 12, 2013

Jason H: I used the RevIt size chart to figure what shape and what size I needed. I wear a large men's adventure style jacket so what I bought won't apply to you.

Good luck!

Gary A: I am a bit surprised that you didn't come across it on their website or that Revzilla didn't help you themselves. . Here is their page that lists the measurements. It is the second chart: http://www.revzilla.com/size-charts-revit-revit-seesoft-back-protector-insert-size-chart Jul 10, 2014

A shopper asked: I am looking to add a new back protector to my Alpinestar Spinner jacket as the RC protector offered by Alpinestar is bulky and uncomfortable in the jacket and this looks to offer a better overall fit. My question is will the Rev'it seesoft protector fit in this jacket and if so which size? Jan 29, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
ray e: I have no idea whether it would actually fit or not you have to compare the shape for that purpose however I will say that I use those protectors and my rivet jackets because they have a fit for each jacket and you get the numbers right in middle fit however I will also say I like my close again when you do where snug riding clothes and you had that protector to the back it can sometimes bind with your underclothing and it can sometimes be bulky and uncomfortable so I don't Jan 29, 2014

John H: I too ran into an issue with a protector that was slightly larger than the space on my Revit jacket. Kat from the showroom said I could just use the stock protector as a template and cut down the larger protector. Worked like a charm and is very comfortable. Feb 18, 2014

Michael S: Look on the velcro flap that holds the stock back pad in place. If the size and type is not printed on a tag there then you will have to match up the stock pad with a seesoft at a local dealer or just call the tech people at revzilla. Aug 19, 2013

Hao D: From what I can tell from the fitment chart in the description, if your Legacy jacket is a size 36-38 it will take a KN105, if your jacket is a size 40-48 it will take a KN106. Aug 27, 2013

A shopper asked: Revzilla has been accepting pre-orders since couple months back.

Do you know when it is going to be available? At least briefly?

Also, though this might be the same question as below, I would like to know how this new product will perform

compared to Sas-tec back armour. In terms of specifiction, does this have the same coverage? (in case of Sas-tec type)

And are there any more news from rev'it? (Rev'it should have some comparison data for marketing purpose.)

I read your explanation that this product has better ventilation and lighter weight but how about

impact resistance? Is this also prone to break in cold weather like Sas-tec?

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

A shopper asked: In terns of protection offered, both in coverage (ST vs RV shape) and impact absorption/delay. Dec 6, 2012

RevZilla: The Seesoft back protector is a very exciting product coming from REV'IT in the Spring of 2013. The back insert was designed with the help of Tryonic, the same company that makes the Feel 3.7 race back protectors. The Seesoft insert will be available in a few different sizes and shapes. They are offering a ST shape (which stands for Sas-Tec), a KN shape (which stands for Knox), as well as the new RV shapes which will correspond with the new 2013 REV'IT! jackets. Comparing the Seesoft ST-12 to the Sas-Tec SC-12, the shape and coverage is going to be the same and both inserts are also CE Level 2 certified for impact protection.

Some advantages to the Seesoft is that it will not become as stiff as the Sas-Tec in lower temperatures and it also weighs less. The Seesoft should also provide better air flow than the Sas-Tec, which makes it an ideal option for hot weather riding. Additionally, because of the multi-layer design the Seesoft is better equipped to deal with indirect impacts. Per REV'IT! "In the case of severe angular impact, the individual Memory Foam layers will shift relative to one another, resulting in impact dispersion over a larger effective surface area and therefore minimizing the energy that is transmitted to the spine and back."
