REV'IT! Seesoft Back Protector Insert Videos

REVIT Seesoft Back Protector Insert

The revolutionary new REVIT See Soft CE-Level 2 back protector is designed to absorb multiple impacts without compromising on comfort, ventilation or freedom of movement. The highly impact-resistant blend of Nitrille and Polynorbornene rubber results in a memory foam that is multi-impact rated and CE Certified to the highest level of prEN 1621-2:2010 level 2.

In the case of severe angular impact, the individual Memory Foam layers will shift relative to one another, resulting in impact dispersion over a larger effective surface area and therefore minimizing the energy that is transmitted to the spine and back. The Seesoft back protector performs extremely consistently in all weather conditions and is unaffected by temperature ranges from -4° F to +104° F (-20° C to +40° C).

Most REV'IT jackets are designed to accommodate a Seesoft CE Level 2 back protector insert. Newer jackets will have a marking on the protector pocket that indicates the matching type and size of the protector.

Good for it's intended purpose Purchased to fit in a Rev.'it jacket. The fit is good and easy to install. Can be warm in higher temperatures but does not feel uncomfortable. Hope to never test it's impact resistance. April 14, 2014
Very comfy! Can't even feel it Very comfortable. Can't feel it's there. Hopefully as protective as described! April 14, 2014
Buy this one Upgraded the original foam back pad in my Rev'it jacket with the Knox originally recommended on label. Used that pad with no major issues for almost two years. Now that I have tried both on numerous rides, here are my views on Seesoft vs. Knox: 1. Knox is cheaper but the Seesoft is much more substantial; 2. Not surprisingly, Knox fits the KN pocket better than the Seesoft. Don't worry, the Seesoft fits well enough and is slightly narrower at shoulder height. I felt the narrower cut improved comfort without sacrificing safety. The Seesoft weighs marginally more but also feels like it could survive multiple crashes. The Knox feels like a one crash item; 3. Seesoft is more comfortable due to shape and materials used. Far less intrusive, you don't feel like you have a turtle shell on your back. Seesoft is made of layers of a dense rubbery foam, Knox seems to be made of a grey "packing peanut" material that does not conform as well to your back; and 4. Seesoft actually flows air, the Knox does not. This is really nice when you are stopped at a long light in 95 degree heat. Overall, the Seesoft is my favorite of the two. You will not be disappointed. April 14, 2014
Works well in a Revit Sand 2 Jacket The "terraced" layers are nice because they taper down and allow what is a fairly thick protector not feel or look bulky in the jacket. In cold weather, the material definitely loses flexibility, but even riding below freezing for an hour won't "freeze" it stiff or anything like that. With an electric vest turned on, I found it actually helped insulate and keep heated contact with my back. :) Ventilation in hot weather is so-so. No better or worse than any other foam-based protector. I bought it because it fits a Revit Sand 2 Jacket very well and I don't regret buying it. April 12, 2014
Worthy upgrade I purchased the Seesoft KN106 to upgrade the armor in my Rev'It Airwave jacket. The Seesoft is obviously a huge upgrade over the foam back that comes with the Airwave and fits the pocket nicely. Any decrease in airflow after installing the Seesoft was unnoticeable and it wears very comfortably. I like how soft and pliable this protector is, which no-doubt contributes to how comfortable it is to wear. I hope I never have to test its protection abilities but I feel better knowing its there and have no doubt that it was a worthy upgrade to the stock pad. April 6, 2014
A must have! Bought this to upgrade (KN 106) the back protector in my Rev'It Ignition 2 jacket. Very comfortable (once it's warm, when you first put your jacket on, you have the feeling you have some sort of a piece of wood), good air flow and NOT making you sweat every time you use the jacket (I still have the thermal and waterproof liners attached). Unfortunately, I don't know if it works, and I'm more than OK with that! That's the king of thing you don't want to use. But it's definitely better to have it than the packing material that comes with the jacket... March 31, 2014
Does its job. This is my first back protector insert, I usually ride with a separate protector because I think it will stay where it is supposed to better. I got the insert for my Sand II jacket that I'm planning on wearing for a multi-day trip and thought an insert would be a lot easier to deal with and still be protective. It seems like it would flow a decent amount of air but I haven't had a chance to ride when it's warm enough to notice. This insert fits in a couple other of my jackets as well so that's an added bonus. March 31, 2014
Nice pad I put a KN106 into my light-colored Tornado Jacket. It fits very well and is leagues above the foam pad fitted as original. I'm pretty sure that foam is included just to inform the purchaser they have a pocket for a protector - it's not meant to protect you at all. The Seesoft pad is light and comfortable. A no- brainer, really. March 31, 2014

Patrick J: I have a Rev'it Tornado Jacket and bought the Type KN / Size: 106 as a replacement for that jacket's standard back protector. It fit perfectly. I found the sizing by looking at the back protector chart which tells the style and sizing at
www.revzilla.com/assets/0000/3231/SeeSoft_Chart_PDF.pdf.
The chart says that your jacket is also a KN106 insert.

Michael L: I would ask the folks at Revzilla for their advice about cutting the back protector to fit your jacket. I added a REV'IT Seesoft Back Protector Insert, Type RV / Size: 05 to my Sand 2 Hi-Viz Jacket, size XL. The back protector fits my jacket perfectly, and it's very comfortable. Dec 10, 2013

Douglas H: My best advice is to wait for them to be restocked; I've had to do that twice, but it was worth it. I don't believe this protector is designed to be trimmed at all. Dec 10, 2013

James S: Dimensions in inches for the Seesoft back protector, Type RV, Size 05:
19 5/16" L x 8 7/8"W upper section, 6 5/8"W lower section x 5/8" thick.

I have found it to be comfortable enough to wear that I soon forgot that the back protector was in there instead of the original piece of foam. It is very flexible and east to get into the pocket.

Tom W asked: I want to upgrade the back protector in my Defender Jacket. Which has better protection/comfort? Seesoft or Sastec? Feb 22, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David G: I purchased my Seesoft protector to replace a KNOX TP2 fitted to my Cayenne Pro jacket. I had found the Knox way too hot in the Australian summer through not allowing adequate or any airflow out of the back having no air vent holes in the protector. I have been extremely happy with my Seesoft which has now been fitted to my jacket over 12 months. I recently rode 5000km in 2 1/2 weeks through temps approaching 40 degrees Celsius and never had a problem feeling overheated across the back and wanting for more air circulation. The Seesoft is also extremely flexible with its multi-layer construction adding to the comfort factor. I rate the Seesoft very highly due to the great flexibility; high airflow rates due to the large number of vent holes; and the CN Level 2 protection. A+++ Feb 25, 2014

Douglas H: Without measuring, I'd guess they're fairly close in thickness, but the Seesoft will compress a bit if need be while the Knox won't (I own both.) The Seesoft is actually a little cooler-wearing. They're both excellent, but I find the Seesoft more comfy overall. Dec 10, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
ray e: I have no idea whether it would actually fit or not you have to compare the shape for that purpose however I will say that I use those protectors and my rivet jackets because they have a fit for each jacket and you get the numbers right in middle fit however I will also say I like my close again when you do where snug riding clothes and you had that protector to the back it can sometimes bind with your underclothing and it can sometimes be bulky and uncomfortable so I don't Jan 29, 2014

Michael S: Look on the velcro flap that holds the stock back pad in place. If the size and type is not printed on a tag there then you will have to match up the stock pad with a seesoft at a local dealer or just call the tech people at revzilla. Aug 19, 2013

Hao D: From what I can tell from the fitment chart in the description, if your Legacy jacket is a size 36-38 it will take a KN105, if your jacket is a size 40-48 it will take a KN106. Aug 27, 2013

A shopper asked: Revzilla has been accepting pre-orders since couple months back.

Do you know when it is going to be available? At least briefly?

Also, though this might be the same question as below, I would like to know how this new product will perform

compared to Sas-tec back armour. In terms of specifiction, does this have the same coverage? (in case of Sas-tec type)

And are there any more news from rev'it? (Rev'it should have some comparison data for marketing purpose.)

I read your explanation that this product has better ventilation and lighter weight but how about

impact resistance? Is this also prone to break in cold weather like Sas-tec?

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

A shopper asked: In terns of protection offered, both in coverage (ST vs RV shape) and impact absorption/delay. Dec 6, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Seesoft back protector is a very exciting product coming from REV'IT in the Spring of 2013. The back insert was designed with the help of Tryonic, the same company that makes the Feel 3.7 race back protectors. The Seesoft insert will be available in a few different sizes and shapes. They are offering a ST shape (which stands for Sas-Tec), a KN shape (which stands for Knox), as well as the new RV shapes which will correspond with the new 2013 REV'IT! jackets. Comparing the Seesoft ST-12 to the Sas-Tec SC-12, the shape and coverage is going to be the same and both inserts are also CE Level 2 certified for impact protection.

Some advantages to the Seesoft is that it will not become as stiff as the Sas-Tec in lower temperatures and it also weighs less. The Seesoft should also provide better air flow than the Sas-Tec, which makes it an ideal option for hot weather riding. Additionally, because of the multi-layer design the Seesoft is better equipped to deal with indirect impacts. Per REV'IT! "In the case of severe angular impact, the individual Memory Foam layers will shift relative to one another, resulting in impact dispersion over a larger effective surface area and therefore minimizing the energy that is transmitted to the spine and back."

A S asked: What other jackets does this back protector fit? I have the ICON contra tex jacket in L and have been waiting for this back protector after hearing alot of rants and raves about it. If it can fit what size would you recommend for the jacket? Thanks Sep 27, 2013

Gregory B asked: OK, maybe a dumb question but I want to clarify this before I order. I'm wanting an upgrade to the stock pads in my Rev'It jackets and am looking for something that I can interchange between the two. I have a Spectrum and an Air Jacket. I understand that the KN106 will fir both. Is that correct? Also, when will these be available? It appears that they are out of stock right now. Aug 31, 2013

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements.  REV'IT! sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.

  • Waist: Measure at the hourglass of your torso, (circumference measured at your belly button)
  • Hips: pelvic bone to pelvic bone, the widest part of your hips below the waist
  • Inseam: from crotch to big ankle bone
  • Outseam: from waist to big ankle bone
