This was my first order with Revzilla and placed the order on a Saturday afternoon 01/14/2012 @ 02:05PM with Ryan. Today is Wednesday 01/18/2012 1:35pm (Atlantic Time) and my order is in 2 parts and in Mass, looking like it will arrive in Calais Maine by tomorrow or Friday. Planning on picking it up on the weekend. The order process was really easy as I had done all measuring prior to the call and simply relied on Ryan’s (Phone Sales guy at Revzilla) judgment for the sizing. I ordered the REV'IT! Sand Jacket & Pants, REV'IT! Rival H2O Boots and REV'IT! Kelvin H2O Gloves. Received the Knox TP2 back protection for ‘Free’ which was a nice touch on Ryan’s part! I’m Canadian, so I will drive to Calais Maine to pick up the order and will try it all on before crossing back. I do this to save on shipping and stupid brokerage fees which are absolutely ludicrous! Hopefully everything fits but I have my concerns with the Sand Pants? I am 6’ (183cm) and 220Lbs (100kg) still have an athletic build (used to be a pro athlete) with an expanded (slightly…lol) midsection. I’ll give you my measurements so you can compare , if you wish to order yourself. I found the reviews with sizing info very useful when I was researching my purchases so I figure it might help someone. I followed the sizing directions as per Revzilla; 47” Chest (at the nipples), 44” True Waist for Jacket & Pants, 46” for Hips, 33” inseam and 42” outer seam (Ryan suggested a 3XL for both). For Boots I usually take a 10.5 in a sneaker so I ordered an 11 (45 Eu) and an XL Glove.
Saturday Jan 21st. Drove across the border at Calais Maine today to pick up all my gear. Tried everything on at ‘Johnson True Value Hardware’ and it all fit like a glove! You can have anything shipped to this place and for a small fee they store it for you until you pick it up. I paid $7(Can) for two boxes. I had my doubts when Ryan suggested 3XL but he was dead on. My initial impression is that the gear is very high quality and the workmanship is outstanding. The suit is actually manufactured in Vietnam which surprised me but I guess most things we buy today are made in places where the labor is extremely cheap. The gloves were the only pieces that were slightly tight but have loosened considerably since I wore them around the house…they look like something from ‘Batman Returns’ ,without the weaponized gauntlets. The Boots turned out to be a 45 Eu but are listed as a 10.5 US on the box and boot. I suspect Ryan sent the this instead of the next size up which was a 11.5 which would have been too large at a 46 Eu . Does not look like these boots come in the ‘11’ US size. The boots are snug but not tight. I have a fairly wide foot so this is why I used the term ‘snug’ but as with all high quality footwear the fit and comfort is outstanding right out of the box. The boots are a bit stiff when rolling from heel to toe in a normal walk but I suspect this will loosen up once they are broken in? With regards to the other reviews, the one gripe that repeated itself when I read other peoples experiences with the Sand Jacket was regarding the zippers at the cuffs working their way up for some. On my jacket the zippers in this location ‘lock’ when the pull tab is flipped back, it’s an almost magnetic feel and when flipped back the zipper won’t move. Like I mentioned earlier, the quality and the attention to detail in this garment is impressive, except the cheap back protection, which I upgraded anyway.
Can’t really say much for how the gear performs yet as its mid-January and -20C (-4F) hear in Atlantic Canada. Will give everybody an update in mid-April as to how the gear performs in the early spring as it will be a really good test for the insulating properties of the jacket, pants gloves and boots. Really happy with my purchase so far and very impressed with Revzilla’s customer service! Good job Ryan and thank you.

It's a nice jacket, and I've only had it for about a month... but, I'm not sure that it's any better than some of the jackets out there that cost a couple of hundred less. For the price, it really should come with a quality back pad. That's really disappointing.
That said, I haven't worn it in warm temps yet, only in the cold so far. With the thermal liner in and the rain liner out, I've worn it for 36-40 degree mornings on the way to work. Mind you, the ride is only 25 minutes... but, the jacket was warm enough for the short period.
SIZE: I ordered based on the size chart, and it is right on. I am 5'11" and about 170 lbs. I ordered a medium. Usually I prefer a large because I like clothes to be a little loose and comfortable. A large would not have worked for this jacket. With both liners out, the medium feels roomy and I have to tighten all of the adjustable straps. Granted, with both liners in, it feels pretty snug, and I was a little afraid I would look like the kid in A Christmas Story. My wife said she couldn't tell, though.
CONS: The left arm zipper has to be completely closed or the wind at 70mph forces the zipper open. And by completely, I mean I left only about a quarter of an inch unzipped, if even that. That's happened a couple of times now so now I'm very aware when zipping up.
Another con is that the velcro on my gloves catches the fabric of the inside of the sleeves when the liners are out. These are short cuff gloves that fit inside the sleeves, rather than full gauntlet gloves. I think eventually they'll tear holes in the fabric.
Pros: If you can afford it, the quality seems very good. The style is what I wanted, and even though not a single person has commented on or complimented the jacket, I think it looks sharp. It has lots of features that might not be found on a cheaper jacket... but, I'm not sure the features are necessities (e.g. the pocket on the back to hold the waterproof liner).
All in all, it's a very nice jacket. Based on my first month with it, I think it's well over priced... but depending on how it does in the summer months and how long it lasts, I might change my mind.

Then this is the one you should buy. I purchased a Rev'it Sand jacket at the beginning of the riding season, black/silver. I have used the jacket in Spring, Summer, and now starting in Fall weather. It got really hot here in Vermont for a short time this Summer and during that time I switched back to my Joe Rocket jacket which is much lighter weight and shorter. The Sand jacket is very substantial in size and weight, even with the insulating layer removed. In fact, riding upwards of 50 Deg F. I have yet to put the insulating shell back in the jacket. Very well made. Really good shell system makes it easy to add/subtract layers. Two big front pockets and a nice large fanny pack-like rear pocket come in very handy for riders like me that travel without any bags on the bike. Nice big reflective patches front and back. No zipper pulls on any of the vents, but I like to play around with parachute cord anyway so this was my chance to add a custom accent. I usually wear a Lg. size jacket, let's use Carhartt as an example, but for the Rev'it jacket I needed an XXL. I think I will only be able to wear a long sleeved base layer underneath when I put the insulating shell back in for cold weather, but this should work out to be nice and warm. Finally, buy the jacket from revzilla, you will not be disappointed. Their customer service is top notch, their product review videos very helpful, and they are just an all-around great online retailer.

Moving on from the standard line of ADV riding clothing this was the natural next step. As my first Rev'it purchase I am very pleased overall. Not as expensive as the high end clothes, this product worked flawlessly on a 50 day trip on a wide range of weather conditions and roads; where the cheapest options would have made the trip less comfortable. Only con: Lacks a bit on detailing and it recently started showing signs of use, like missing adjusters and loose strings. Thats why it took me a year to write this review.

I keep trying to go the cheap(er) route by buying other jackets, but this is the ticket. I am 5'3" with a athletic build, so its hard finding jackets that don't make me feel like a storm trooper when i'm wearing them.
This jacket is substantially lighter than other 4 season jackets I have had and conforms to my torso MUCH better than any of the other jackets I have bought. I got this jacket this morning and took it for a quick ride, with it a bit chilly in the morning to being warm right about now, this jacket was able to adapt easily. And it doesn't incorporate a ton of worthless gimmicks to make it happen. All the vents/zippers on the jacket it are well thought out and have a good feel to them.
Just the first few hours of wearing the jacket it feels like I just have street clothes on. I don't feel like I have armored clothing on. If you have a hard time finding jackets that fit and you have a slim to athletic build, spend the extra money, buy Revit!
I can't comment on the quality of the waterproofing so we will see, but come winter time I try to stay out of the rain, so for my purposes it should be fine.
I have a mesh Revit Jacket that has held up for years and I expect this jacket to do the same.
I have to thank the Revzilla crew, for all their hard work on their product videos, granted I spent what seems like days watching youtube videos they posted on jackets, but it helped tremendously and let me reach a decision on such an expensive (to me) jacket and never spoke to a human being. I can only imagine how helpful they are when you actually talk to them. This is my first transaction with revzilla and it won't be my last! Thanks again!

I had the Rev'it! dragon before this jacket and it really doesn't compare. The sand uses a better rain liner, a better thermal liner, has more vents, has better abrasion resistant material (in all the right places).
I was pleasantly surprised to see how much air it actually flowed.
I got a size large jacket.

Just got back from a 1000 mile trip down the west coast with my new Sand jacket & pants. Temperatures ranged from 48 & drizzly in the morning to 90 in the afternoon, and all I needed was the waterproof liners. I'm really glad I talked to someone at Revzilla before ordering, because I ordered the XXL instead of my usual XL (I'm 5-11, 195 lbs) and it fit perfectly. I got the expected stares from the black leather pirate-types, but that's what I expected as I was passing them on my FJR. I hope I don't have to test the protective properties anytime soon. Incidentally, most ventilation features I've tried on clothing (including these) usually are pretty ineffective on a sport-tourer with full fairing and windscreen.

I ordered my Sand suit at the BMW International Rally online with help from one of the Revzilla ladies. Tried on a couple of sizes for fit and settled on size XL standard length pants. She knew her stuff! Only two short rides with it so far; one in the poring rain (no leaks) and one in warmers temps to try out the venting with works great! Well placed vents and the fit and material are first rate. Bonus was the included hangers (can hang the pants up not folded via a couple loops). Easy to remove both sets of liners. I love this suit. Great value for the money. It was delivered to Maine in time for me to pick up on the way to the Canadian border. Thanks Revzilla! And thanks to the staff for enduring the heat in Bloomsburg PA July 21-23. Already ordered the SAS-TEC backpad for it for more protection.

Answer:
I think its just big enough for the jacket liner. Although (depending on your riding style) I wouldnt recommend using it but getting a separate rain proof suit instead. As once your outer shell is wet, in cold weather conditions, it could remain like that for several days. With the rain suit you remain totally shielded and it dries quickly.

Answer:
It's a tight fit with just the liners from the jacket, you might be able to squeeze it in, but it will definitely feel awkward back there. I tried riding with just the jacket waterproof liner back there and it bothered me too much, so I just keep it in my other luggage.

Answer:
From the jacket, yes. From both, that would be tight. I would say the thermal liners from both would fit OR the waterproof liners from both, but not all 4 together.

REV'IT! Jackets are European (slim) cut and generally more narrow in the shoulders than other brands. Please take this into account when choosing the appropriate size. Most riders with any body type other than "slim" would need to order one size larger than they typically might wear in other brands, if you are in between sizes, we recommend erring on the larger side. If you have any questions about REV'IT! sizing please call 877-792-9455 for help.

How To Measure REV'IT! Jacket Size

How To Measure REV'IT! Pants Size

SIZING INSTRUCTIONS

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements.  REV'IT! sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.

  • Chestwidth: Measure from under/top of armpit cross chest to under/top of other armpit, then across back to first armpit
  • Waist: Measure at the hourglass of your torso, (circumference measured at your belly button
  • Hips: pelvic bone to pelvic bone, the widest part of your hips below the waist
  • Inseam: from crotch to big ankle bone
