Very Cool Jacket
A couple of years ago when an order from Revzilla was delivered, included in the box was a magazine called RevZine featuring the coolest urban riding jackets I had ever seen. As I could not find any of them at Revzilla, I contacted RevIt directly. To my dismay they told me that all the urban jackets I was inquiring about were designed for the French and Italian markets only, where riders appreciated the urban look and that I should pick something from the jackets designed for the US market. I told them that they were underestimating US riders, that some of us were as fashion forward as our counterparts in Europe. We left it at that and I had my brother send me a jacket from Paris.
Fast forward 18 months or so and the cool jackets started trickling into the US market. I ended up buying the Melville, followed by the Oxford and Hillcrest.
I like them all but I really love the Hillcrest. It's a very simple jacket with protection at the arms and shoulders, and the possibility to add protection to the back. What I love about this jacket most though is the way it looks. It has this fantastic retro look, almost paying homage to the cafe racers from the 60s, however it does not yell 'motorcycle jacket' at all. It looks amazing over a white shirt and a tie. You could wear this thing to a board meeting if you wanted to...
It doesn't have perfect airflow or a ton of features. That's not what this jacket is about. If that's what you're interested in, you should look elsewhere. But if you want a very stylish jacket that works on and off the bike, this is your jacket. I ride to work every day and I find myself reaching for the Hillcrest every morning. My only gripe has to do with the two way zipper as I struggle to perfectly align the pulls to be able to slip the zipper tongue into them and zip up. Other that this little thing, it's the perfect jacket for me, riding in Southern California.
I bought the titanium colored jacket, liked it so much that I wanted to get the blue as well. Unfortunately the latter is not available until the end of summer. I'll order it then. It's worth the wait.

Modern day style & fit
Love this jacket. It has a really cool vintage-vibe but cut in a modern fit so not big and boxy. It's a great option for warmer weather riding in that it has protection on the arms and shoulders. Definitely a slimmer cut, which I like, but if it's not your thing be forewarned. It's one negative is that it could have used some vents under the arms or elsewhere to give it a little more breathability. Lots of pockets both internal and external and a great zipper. Highly recommend, and an attractive price point.

Fits well and love the style
I preordered this item in early may and it was delivered (as advertised) in the first week of June. I'm 6' and 165 lbs and the large fits perfectly. It's incredibly light and looks great; only thing this jacket lacks is ventilation.

Very Good Three Season Jacket
I bought this jacket after watching a review of it online. I was however skeptical if it would actually be a good jacket as most vintage jackets I've looked at are either way too hot to be considered three season jackets or way too slim fitting to fit those who gained the freshman 15 (50). Its not the perfect jacket but the good compared to the bad is very good in this jacket

Pros:

It breathes! While it may seem like the jacket doesn't breathe like a mesh jacket,it really does. Up to a certain point. I've only felt overwhelmed in the jacket a few times and each time it was over 100, zero clouds, and no wind. So I should have just stayed inside anyways.

European styling, without the Euro price. At 270 dollars, this jacket is a steal compared to others. Its build quality is amazing. It has been through several washes and severe thunderstorms and the quality has not dropped at all for the main jacket. My only gripe for the cost and build quality is that it is made in China, but I'm sure that was because of the cost benefits.

You'll look good off the bike (kinda). The jacket is tailored towards a certain type of build and that's the vast majority of riders who don't look like they are hiding a scorpion helmet under their shirts. With that being said, you will find that if you don't fit into said category, the jacket tends to fit way too tight. I had to buy a 2XL to fit me snug (not tight). Unfortunately 2XL appears to fit the taller but still slim rider, not someone who has a gut so it is bit long length wise. So off the bike the jacket still appears to have armor, especially in the elbow areas. Because the 2XL appears to be built for a taller slim rider, the length of the arms are a bit too long, but it balances itself out once you hop on the bike.

Cons:

The belt is super gimicky. Seriously, if you do get this jacket, look into picking up a separate belt from a military surplus store. The belt barely contours to your body and I have a gut so it should be squeezing my gut, but its not. Its not all bad though because the cinches inside will give you a more practical tightening method. If the belt felt more sturdy and had a few more holes, then it'd be fine but as of now the one that comes with it is rubbish.

Bottom zip can sometimes get stuck. It'll come apart with a lot of jiggling but its something to be aware of.

Summary:

If you're looking for a good (not best) jacket for a fair price, you can't go wrong with this. The jacket does have its cons, but the cons are very few. Best jacket I've bought since I started street riding and I can't praise it enough despite its odd fitment on me.

Love the look and feel!
After doing a ton of research on jackets I decided to go with the Hillcrest and just got back from a 300 mile test trip to Key West in it. This is my first real riding jacket after using flannel shirts or a jean jacket. Keep in mind that I am a daily rider in Miami Florida so its friggin hot and humid nearly all year around no matter what you are wearing.

Pros:
The pockets are great with easy to use buttons on the go with a gloved hand. I was camping on this trip so I had a bunch of extra gear in my pockets for easy access and it didn't feel uncomfortable or affect the ride. Talking cell phone, chargers, couple packs of smokes, flask, glasses, etc.

Zippers were easy to use again with a gloved hand. I can unzip the bottom a bit when riding and it helps allow a bit more air to cool off the belly.

Style is top notch. I'm no GQ model but this is a sharp looking jacket without making you look like a cyborg with riding armor or like a sport bike riding Power Ranger look a like. (I got the blue one)

Protection: (not that kind) I have never used riding armor before but its a good feeling in the back of your head that I do have some soft armor on the arms and shoulders in the event of a tumble. The armor blends in seamlessly with the style of the jacket and is not noticeable when walking around.

Cons:
Its a bit warm while not moving but then again anything in Miami Florida is going to be friggin hot. Temps were in the 90's with about 1000% humidity so wearing a t-shirt would make you sweat like crazy. Since this is a non-water proof jacket some armpit zipper vents would make me grade it as 5 stars instead of a very strong 4. Even when its 90 degrees F out and riding at 30 mph + there is enough air flow from the wrists and front zippers to cool you off and have a comfortable ride.

Arm length: This isn't really the fault on the jacket. I'm 6'2 / 230 lbs and I got the 2XL size. I wish the arms were a bit longer but then again I do have pretty long arms and nothing really fits right.

Conclusion:
I simply love this jacket and would recommend this to any rider out there.. I've seen some low speed crashes with the rider wearing t-shirts and the road rash was pretty rough. I view this as something that improves my safety a little bit, keeps the sun from frying me, and allows me to carry my junk easily while on the bike.

Trying to decide between large and XL. For those who bought either a large or XL could you measure the sleeve length from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the cuff? Thank you.

Hi, how heavy is the cotton compered to say the windsor? Does the fabric in your opinion have enough abrasion resistance? Thanks!
Igor K on Feb 4, 2016
Would you be able to use this jacket at temperatures around 45 F in case you wear it with a proper mid-layer?
A shopper on Nov 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Thats actually been the temperature here lately and yes, a mid layer like a sweater or sweat shirt would cover you great at that temp. But then again, you also have to consider your own resistance to cold weather. Around those temperatures I just wear a sweater or a light jacket so if you're the kind of person that needs more, it might not be enough.
Is it waxed cotton?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No it's not
Hi,
In your video breakdown, is Peter wearing a black or blue jacket?
Harout D on Aug 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Think he was wearing the black one. I bought the blue version and its not nearly as dark.
Is it possible to upgrade the shoulder and elbow armor?
A shopper on Jul 20, 2016
I really like this urban style in titanium. I'm a girl and I wear a size 40 in Dainese racing jacket. Will a size small fit me? What is the length from shoulder to shoulder?
Reylene C on Jan 17, 2016

Part of the City Collection for 2014, the Hillcrest Jacket is one of the more basic pieces. Cotton exterior. Nice European style to it. I'm going to give it a 2 to 3 season warm weather rating. There's no waterproof liner. There's no venting going on. It's just using that lightweight Knox CE rated Flexiform Armor tied in with this cotton really three quarter, almost trench-style to it. A nice flavor within the REV'IT! City Collection. REV'IT!'s doing jeans now. They're doing a lot of on-the-bike, off-the-bike stuff, doing a lot of scooter gear. This is part of that new collection. Remember, check out stuff like the Concorde, which will be this jacket, something like this jacket with a waterproof, breathable liner. Again there's a lot going on here and it's just over that $200 mark. Now, three colors available - titanium, a black as well as the blue. This is going to be a classic fit. No surprises in the way that it sits. Now if you look at some of the creature comforts here, notice the REVIT Hillcrest Jacket has a higher collar, dual flap here on its way down to this trench-style belt, which is removable. Four pocket design. It's using the upgraded snaps here from REV'IT! and remember, a lot of attention to detail going into the snaps, the closures, the zippers and the way that this is designed. Looking to the wrist there are going to be lateral cuffs, two basic snaps pulling everything together again and it's going to be a basic mesh liner tying it all in.

You can see the clean line down the side, the quilting along the elbows. Again, Knox Lite CE rated Armor, shoulder as well as elbow. Very basic on the back although this is a reflective panel and there's no back pad that comes with this. You'd upgrade if you want to put back protection in to a type RV from REV'IT! It's that Seesoft Type RV, which is going to be a CE Level 2 back protector. Notice REV'IT!'s beefier style with the Hill Crest Jacket. This is really that more Euro in style zipper collection that they're doing. You'll see that it is a two-way zipper and that's a nice touch because it is a three-quarter length coat and you're sitting the upright position, gives you the ability to split it at the bottom and let it flare a little bit. Now if you open it up, again no frills here, no surprises just basic in its construction. Basic pocket. You have a cincture along the waistline to pull it in and again, remember, if I had to call it out, you're good to go, if you zip it back up for me, if I had to call it out, I'd love to see this with maybe a porthole under the arm or a basic pit zip. There's no ventilation here so really I call it more of that European summer-weight jacket. Lightweight, no direct venting. Again, solid for temperate city or temperate scenarios. I even like the way that they did this down along the snaps on the inside here. A lot of nice features here come with the REV'IT Hillcrest. I think this is a great jacket for more of a New York summertime or a California anytime style positioning.
