For hot summer days a Challenger cooling vest can be zipped in. Great buy! Just got this jacket and did my first ride. Temp was 68-70 in early am and the jacket provided a lot of air flow, more than I expected. I almost wished I had worn a long sleeve t shirt underneath. But in a couple of hours it had warmed yo to low 70's and it felt great. Love the inside pocket features of Velcro and zipper. Additional purchase of a back protector is recommended. Size is slightly small. I got one size up. Only wish the lover zipper had a cover. Like a Velcro flap or a button to cover it. August 23, 2015
Comfortable in Daytona I purchased this jacket for summer evening rides around greater Daytona Beach and the surrounding areas. The evening temperature is in the low 80s and the jacket is very comfortable as long as you are moving. Nothing is comfortable when you're sitting still in the summer months. The shoulder and elbow protection are important safety features to me. Overall, I think this jacket is as good as any and better than most. August 17, 2015
Great price for a quality jacket Bought my first bike and gear in May. This was recommended by Revzilla and I couldn't be happier. Air flow is great, even at 90 degree weather, you stay cool as long as you are moving. Elbow and Shoulder protection is nice. I also bought the back protector which fits very nicely and can hardly notice it being there. The jacket looks great and has ample protection. Haven't gone down yet, but believe this jacket would hold up well. Only problem, I have only had the jacket for 3 months and there is already a small hole in one of the side pockets. Loose change is scattered throughout the jacket lining now which is annoying. Not sure if it is just my jacket, but still wouldn't expect this from a new jacket. Still highly recommend! Comfy and protective jacket! This is a great summer jacket. I wear it daily in 100* weather with no issues. It flows a ton of air, has great protection, and looks good to boot. I have the White/black and it is super visible anytime of the day. The only downside of this jacket is it does come a bit small. I wear a 2XL shirt size and wear the 3XL jacket which fits perfectly without being tight. August 10, 2015
Great fit. Great style. Great protection. I'm 6'3" and 235lbs. The 3XL was perfect. I always deal with short sleeves, and this jacket has excellent length of sleeves, even while riding. It may be slightly large around the body, but my biggest pet peeve is short sleeves. This was a perfect size. I bought white/black and the white sleeves are excellent for less heat absorption from the sun, and visibility. Definitely like the jacket, and will be purchasing the leather version soon. Love the Rev It! styles... Revile Rocks! August 4, 2015
Comfortable and Cool I am wearing this jacket for half a year. The best thing about it is the comfort that you will feel. It is very lightweight and comfortable. I am living in Southern California and this jacket has a perfect air flow for hot weather. This is my second motorcycle jacket and even though the first one is much heavier, REV'IT makes me feel safer. August 4, 2015
Beat the heat with comfort and style This is my first motorcycle jacket and Rev'IT product. The quality is top notch and it met my needs perfectly. I wear a full chest/back protector underneath for extra protection and it fits snug. I am 6' 180 and went with a size large. XL would probably have fit better when wearing armor underneath. I live in Oklahoma and our summer is constantly around 100 degrees. Once you start the ride it cools you off instantly. Great buy and will be using this for 3 seasons for sure. August 3, 2015
World of difference as compared to perforated leather Have been trying to stretch my perforated leather jacket into the hot summer months and I finally bit the bullet and bought a dedicated summer jacket. I have a few Rev'It products and they are always of the highest quality, I bought the white version and it definitely is cooler to the touch versus my black jackets. The airflow is great (especially in the underarm) and I'm considerable more comfortable in the heat. I bought the back protector as I do for all my jackets and as I expected it really cuts down the air flow where it presses against your body... but everywhere else is nice and cool in the wind. To me it's worth saving my spine if I go down. I also bought the Challenger cooling vest and have done 1 ride thus far. In the crisp morning air I could definitely feel the evaporative effect. As I got into mid-day and the mid-90s, it was harder to feel the effect but I was comfortable but this might be because I needed to recharge it with some fresh (cold) water. I'm 6 foot tall, 195#, 45 inch chest. With Rev'It, I have to do a 2XL to match my chest size (especially with the back protector and cooling vest installed). This leads to a slightly loose fit in a couple areas, like my waist/arms, but the adjustments typically take up the necessary slack. 100% recommend! August 3, 2015

I've done quite a bit of research and rev'it seems to be a pretty high quality brand. Overall, this looked like the best option between style, airflow/comfort, and safety. My decision was between this one and the Tornado (waterproof/thermal liner) but overall, I figured that I would not be riding in the rain too much. For winter I will probably just buy a leather jacket. Jun 8, 2014

A shopper asked: GT-R Air or Airwave?
I have a one piece leather riding suit and two piece leather riding suit. I wear the top of the two piece for casual street riding but it's a little much and hot. Looking for something cooler and not so loud for running errands. Riding in SoCal and other desert rides on sport bike. What is a better option?

A s: Air.
I feel very comfortable wearing this with a tee shirt in 80+ degrees while riding. It has a close fit and I LOVE the collar. It's low cut and gives my neck room to breathe. I surges a spinal insert though. I wear this to work and on long (4hrs+) rides. You can always throw a sweater underneath. I ride with a club, I always have a vest on over it. I also own Rev'It pants with padding. They zip beautifully together to keep unwanted drafts from creeping up your back when leaned over on your tank full throttle open doing the speed limit ;)

The jacket also looks great with jeans. I've gotten compliments on the jacket from the ladies as we'll. I'm happy with my purchase.
I wouldn't wear this in the fall or anything below 60 degrees.

A shopper asked: Since I have the white/black Revit GT-R Textile Jacket it gets dirty easy and fast. So do you have any good tips on how to wash it? Do I need to take out all the elbow and shoulder pads? Thanks! Apr 27, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (2) No (0)
David B: When you get home from hot riding just jump in the pool with your jacket on! That does the trick. If you don't have a pool, just put a very light shot of laundry detergent in a 5 gal bucket of water then stuff your jacket with pads in the bucket of sudsy water and slosh it around. Pull it out, put the jacket on a hanger and hose it off and let drip dry. For localized messy bug smashes or greasy spots ...wet a rag with Hydrogen Peroxide and wipe off. You can use this on your helmet and windscreen as well. Hard dry bug guts melt away and it doesn't hurt the finish. Trust me....I've done this for years! Apr 27, 2015

A shopper asked: Does this comes with any inside liner to protect from light rain, just in case it happens? Or same liner to be used to reduce airflow in cooler weather situations? Oct 13, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Bert C: No inside liner. This jacket is great, but is meant for hot dry weather. You'll need to bring rain gear with you if you think rain is possible. Or may need to move up to a three season jacket with removable lining for cooler temperatures. Oct 13, 2014
Reply to Bert Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
David B: No liner but thats the way I like it. Its light and cool but still good crash protection. A rain suit over it does a much better job for wet or cool mornings Oct 14, 2014
Reply to David Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Brandon T: No, this jacket does not come with any kind of inside liner. You'll have to use a separate one if you want to block airflow. Oct 14, 2014

I don't want to wear a gauntlet glove to cover the jacket if it hits me 3" above the wrist. I realize Im on border between M and L. Wonder if either one will work though. Thanks

Gerry S: I'm 6'2", 210lbs with 28" arms measured from the shoulder. After speaking with a Gear Geek I went with the XL and their recommendation was spot on. The sleeve hits me 1/2" above my top thumb knuckle when my arms are by my side. Mar 15, 2015

Armond T: I'm 6'1", 165 with long limbs and a 38-39" chest. I tried on a medium and fit me snugly. Sleeve length was good. I tried on a large (which I bought) with no sleeve issues at all. I suggest trying a L. Apr 24, 2015

Samuel K: I would go with large Or extra large, simply for sleeve length. I have the xl it's good in the sleeves but a bit tight all around. If you're "lanky" then it should fit you great Mar 15, 2015

A shopper asked: Bought this jacket and loving it. Its getting pretty dirty now and I didn't see any care instructions. How are you guys keeping yours shiny? Jul 13, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David B: Remove back, shoulder and elbow armor. Fill 5gal bucket half way with luke warm water and a little squirt of mild dish detergent. Soak the jacket for 15 mins in the bucket of soapy water. Take out and rinse with fresh water. I just use a garden hose outdoors. Hang it up and let it dry. Replace armor Jul 15, 2014

Jon M: I have the white/black one. I take out the elbow and shoulder pads, put it in the washer on hand wash/delicate with warm water and oxy clean. Hang dry. Does a pretty decent job. I don't know if there is any way to get it looking brand new. Too afraid to use bleach. Jul 16, 2014

A shopper asked: I have a Jaunt2 in Hi-Vis yellow and it does get dirty fairly quickly. Would i expect the same thing with the white/black and red jacket? If so I guess it is the black/white for me. This is probably a rhetorical question. May 2, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David B: Its not rhetorical but it depends on the environment where you ride with the jacket. I live in Texas and I chose the white as its cooler feeling when not up to speed. Yep there are a few bug splats now and then but I wipe it down after every ride if it needs it and that helps keep it looking like new too. The white is a good visibility jacket too - not quite "Hi-Viz" but it does stand out. May 2, 2014
Reply to David Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Robert K: The white will get dirty, just as any other piece of clothing does. The more maintenance you put into the garment the longer the brightness/cleanliness will last. I went with the mostly white version knowing that it will show degradation with the fabric; however, I would rather be more visible even with dirty white than solid black. May 18, 2014
Reply to Robert Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
ROGER A: well i guess it just depends on the person and how you take care of it. After every ride i put it in the plastic that it came with and it still looks brand new. But it can get dirty fairly quick if you just throw it on dirt or something. May 4, 2014

A shopper asked: I just bought the jacket and just wearing it around the house, it feels itchy/chaffy. I was surprised since it received such stellar reviews. Did anyone else notice this? Or do y'all just stick to Fernando's dictum, "It is better to look good than to feel good"? Jun 4, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
J G: Also I'd never buy or keep a jacket, especially one that's supposed to protect me if I go down, because it looked good. I'd rather look goofy as all get out and be comfortable and protected than look good and be uncomfortable.

I think RZ has a good return policy? I can't remember as I've never used it before but I'd definitely look into it. (2/2)

J G: I've never gotten the "itchy/chaffy" feeling. Each person is different, perhaps you have an unknown allergy or sensitivity to a material in the jacket?

I love mine and can wear it for hours and the worst that happens to me is I get sweaty from the temperature.

ROGER A: Hey! Ive actually tried a few jackets because it gets pretty hot here to and i feel like the GT-R has the best ventilation. Its almost all mesh in the front and the inner sleeves which makes the ventilation really good while riding. So far my favorite jacket for the summer! Nov 30, 2014

Steve H asked: GT-R Air or Airwave?
I have a one piece leather riding suit and a two piece leather riding suit. I wear the top of the two piece for casual street riding but it's a little much and hot. Looking for something cooler and not so loud for running errands.and short day rides. Riding in SoCal and other desert rides on a sport bike. What is a better option?

Aurangzeb S: This is the best jacket hands down. I was walking in the kitchen with it and it was cooling me down. This jacket is phenomenal. Defiantly worth it. Trust me. Only thing is doesn't come with the back protector but you can easily upgrade it. Deff get it. Also matches my bike really nicely :) Aug 20, 2014

Joanne G asked: Can you apply iron on patches or other patches using a fabric adhesive on these jackets? Apr 4, 2014

Meredith J: I am not a fabric expert, but I wouldn't use an iron on patch on this jacket. Apr 4, 2014

Rodrigo M: No, it will melt the fabric May 20, 2014
Reply to Rodrigo Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Lorena G: I don't know. I haven't use the jacket yet. Anyway, being a synthetic material, iron would melt the fabric on the mesh area, which is not sturdy and very delicate, the textile portion would not be affected. That would be my guess. Apr 5, 2014

A S asked: How does this jacket connect with Rev'it! pants? Is it a 270 degree connection that keeps the jacket from riding up or just an 8" zipper in the back? Jul 7, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jose G: This will do just a simple 8'inch zipper on the back.
I did a low side crash with this jacket, and the zipper connected and held at 40mph with my rev'it pants.

Nino C: I wear this during summer in Georgia, if it's heat you are worried about. The only time I get kinda warm is at long red lights. Even then, it's not terrible. I'm using the white/black/red, with grey/silver Airwave pants (that do NOT color match, sadly). Jan 9, 2015

Jon M: Below 50 degrees above 40 mph you are going to be cold in this jacket. I know because that was my cutoff for temp and speed for wearing this jacket this last fall season. Jan 9, 2015

Donald M: I doubt I'll ride below 55-60 here in jersey. Not to concerned about rain protection as I don't see myself riding in rain. Just looking for a happy medium in staying warm in the spring and fall months and something that will keep me cool in the summer months. This jacket should work well if I wear a sweatshirt underneath in the cooler months? Jan 9, 2015
Jon M: Yeah, if that is your plan, then you should be good to go. I love the jacket, just supplement with a sweatshirt when it gets cooler and you will be just fine. Jan 9, 2015

Attila C: I am a 58 comfortably in Dainese jackets although after 20 more pounds I am down to the 56. I am a 5'10 and 205 lbs. I wear the Rev it gtr jacket xxl size. If I had to guess. Comfortably you'd be better off with a large. But check the size chart rather than asking other's advice. Oct 15, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Nino C: I'm 6' with a 40" chest measurement and have the Large. It fits well for me with a tee and light fleece underneath and no back protector yet. I would definitely call and ask the guys at Revzilla to help, but I feel like the Large would be too tight for all situations. XL seems like it'd be right. Mar 12, 2014

Jason M: I'm like Nino C, 6' 40" chest about 190lbs. I ordered the large and while it does fit, it's just barely. It's tight everywhere so there's no way I could put anything under it. It seems the break off between Large and XL is about where I am. I returned the large to get an XL. Jun 1, 2014

The REV'IT! GT-R Air Textile Jacket is a replacement for the Tarmac. Nice step forward in the REV'IT collection. You're going to see a new clean line and a mixture of meshes. We now have air mesh coupled with 3D mesh. It's going to provide better airflow. They've also beefed up some of the reflective. It's a nice iteration of what we've seen. Four colors available. There's a black version, a black white. There's also a black green which is really, really nice.

Now quickly think about it in the family of entry level mesh jackets from REV'IT and REV'IT's a super premium European brand so I hate to call anything entry level, but it's just over that $200 mark. You have the more touring oriented airway jacket. You have the GT-R Air which is definitely more of a sport cut, waist length coat, part of their city collection in that same price bucket so if you're looking mesh check those guys out. Now a quick note on sizing. No surprises here. I don't think it's an overly touring cut. I don't think it's overly European. I think it's right on the money. It should link up nicely with the size chart.

Now you can always look at something like the Levante or something like Tornado if you want that waterproof, breathable functionality, but really looking at the GT-R Air you're getting the base mixture of mesh, CE rated Knox Flexiform armour in the shoulders as well as the elbows. You have nice reflective under the REV'IT logos on the side. You can see how everything comes down along the elbow with a nice accordion stretch fabric here, too, for flexibility. Now the back's not going to come with a back protector. It would take a CE level two type RV. Keep that in mind. But the big upgrade here, too, again in the back is that the original Tarmac Air didn't have a ton of reflective. They've added some GT-R Air reflectivity here in the back and again, nice big panel of 3D mesh for exhaust through the top.

You'll see down along the hip, there's hip adjusters which are just basic. You have bicep adjusters and the cuffs are very simple as well with a snap and then a YKK zip. That's one of the things that REV'IT's famous for. They use upgraded components, the spring loaded snaps, YKK zippers. Again the stuff holds together really well over the course of time. Even down the insides of the arms you're going to get great airflow from a lot of those mesh panels coming through and, again, basic hand warmers on the side. You'll notice that they got rid of the collar snap they used to have on the Tarmac. This is a very classically styled mandarin styled sports collar and if you open it up you're going to see a few things going on in the inside.

The first thing you're going to notice is a basic mesh lining, again to promote airflow for this three season hot weather or really two season, think warm to hot weather riding condition jacket. And then you also have these loops for your earbuds that live here in the iPod or iPhone pocket and, again, I'm calling it that but you can put any type of phone or music device in there. And then up here you're going to see the short connection zipper and that's for the Challenger vest from REV'IT which is that evaporative cooling vest that's part of the Hyper Cool collection that you can add to any jacket in part of the newer collections after the fact. Add it in and when it's stiflingly hot, it's going to keep you cool at speed.
