Let's hope 3rd times a charm
Acquiring right fit has been a head ache. I referred to the sizing chart, videos, and manufacturer website before submitting my initial order. First purchase was size Medium Tall. These fit great in the waist--no ruffled up material after synching them down--but thigh was ridiculously tight (it looked ridiculous and was terribly uncomfortable). Returned those and placed second order so as to get a quick turn around. The $38 (w/ insurance at $600 value) return shipping w/ UPS hurt bad! The replacement pair were the Large standard length. These arrived w/ a Hershey's chocolate wrapper in the pocket; that was odd? The seem in the crotch was tearing already, and the knee protection was riding high when seated on my Ducati Multistrada 1200 (even after adjusting the knee pad to the lower setting). RevZilla came to the rescue and provided a pre-paid return shipping label and I'm now awaiting the same pants in Large tall.

Awesome, just needs a reinforced seat.
I am moving from Super Sport to adventure sport so this style of gear/riding is relatively new to me. So here are my initial Impressions<br><br>After receiving this jacket/pants combo I went through it with a fine tooth comb looking for flaws. The over all build of the Pants is of good quality. I would have liked to see the fabric little more reinforced in high abrasion areas with the super fabric, especially on the seat area where the fabric feels as thin as low abrasion areas. The elasticated panels might be flawed on my pants, but on the other side they feel fine. the seems on the other side aren't ribbed as if the needle/glue missed that particular area. This could be me just being knit picky so I am not too worried about it. The thermal layer feels plush and warm and seams of equal quality. Going over the Gore-Tex liner it looks and feels like it will hold against rain however I have yet to try it out.<br><br>Rear pockets would have been a great addition or at least a couple of water proof fronts.<br><br>Velcro for venting gives me the impression it might wear out a bit quicker than the rest of the jacket.<br><br>I particularly like how you can use one liner without having to use the other. The ankles zip in place. I wish the jacket had a similar feature for the cuffs.<br><br>The have a large that fits really well and doesn't offer much additional room for additional clothing for a slimmer guy(that or a I'm a big guy with a slim mirror). with that said if it isn't warm enough for you, you might be able to sneak in some thermal under-armor. The customer service team did specify these aren't over pants.<br><br>Out of all the liner pants I have looked into/researched/considered I find this particular set to be of good quality for the price and am happy with this being my number 1 pick.<br><br>Unfortunately I do not have any road time as of yet, nor have the tags been removed. Ill update as soon as I can give more info on the function

Defender GTX
I like the gear - talk about protected. It's Goretex but not waterproof at all - you will get soaked. It's ok for a quick rain shower.....it does dry fast.<br>I've ridden in 30 to 105 degs in this outfit. In the heat, The jacket breaths well with the wrist vents open, chest and back vents open - flows pretty good. When you have a fairing, the venting drops drastically. The pants don't breath very much because of the seated position, the vents on top get hardly any air. But when you go off-road and stand up on dual sports, the flow is ok.<br>The overall is it's pretty rugged. I wasn't trying to be GQ when I bought this and had a red bike...that wasn't the intent.<br>I am disappointed that this expensive Goretex ensemble doesn't even come close to keeping you dry....that's why I had to spend another $100 for the AWESOME Revit one-piece hi-viz rain suit....<br>Anyway - it's a really nice piece of kit.

Great pair of pants
I'm 6'1, 208 lbs and wear a size 36/32 pants. The size chart would have you lean towards a large but I ordered the XL Tall. This was definitely the way to go. The fit is snug on the thighs with the thermal liner in but if I go with the Goretex liner only it's a perfect fit. The waste is snug but not tight. The rise from the crotch is a little short but I don't think it will be a problem. I like the high padded waste in the back. The pants come with hip pads but I upgraded to the SaS Tec hip protectors which fit perfect. The Sas Tec knee pads provide excellent coverage and no adjustment was necessary.<br>I was considering the Olympia Ranger 3 pants but I prefer a riding pant as opposed to a overpant since I don't like riding in jeans.<br><br>The build quality of the stitching is on par with the Olympia Ranger except that Olympia uses heavier duty zippers. The zippers on the fly and pockets of the Defender are not as good. Hopefully they will stand up over time.<br><br>I haven't tested he GoreTex liner in the rain but having had other Goretext products I'm optimistic it will perform well. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

Medium tall is a great fit for a tall skinny guy.
I originally ordered Neptune GTX pants to match my Neptune GTX jacket but they only came in a medium regular length. These turned out to be to short and didn't offer enough coverage over my boots. I switched to the Defender since it is available in a medium tall. I am 6'2" 160lbs and these fit great. I like that they have a slimmer cut. I recently did a 1000 mile trip and wore them in all 3 configs - (Pant, Gortex, Fleece), (Pant, Fleece), (Pant only). All 3 configs were very comfortable. I do wish there were more vents for air though.

Stellar pants
If you still see your size available at the discount price, buy them. I've gone from 20F to 100F in these without issues. I've been in about 500 miles of solid rain in them and managed to get a small bit wet at the velcro spot where the thigh vents are.<br><br>Awesome buy.

The Defender is great gear!
I bought the Defender jacket 2 years ago and absolutely love it. I wear it in torrential rain frequently and I can attest that Gore Tex is king. When the time came to retire my beloved REV'IT! Dakar pants I'd been wearing since 2007 simply because they leaked, The Defender was the logical choice. I love the drop liner design and the most prominent feature here is the Gore Tex. I am 5' 10" / 190 and 39" around the middle. The XL standard length fit spot on. I really appreciate the higher waist. The 3d mesh backed vents seem ample but are there at the expense of cargo pockets. The front pockets, the only pockets on the garment are rather small. I don't use pockets much so I don't miss them. The velcro closure cinches up nicely around my boots. However, the absence of gussets at the bottom of the legs places the velcro strips in direct proximity to the Gore Tex liner when the leg zippers are open and could cause damage if one isn't careful. It's just something to be aware of. I don't know how they missed this in an otherwise top of the line piece of gear.

Excellent Product. For all season weather
I picked the jacket during summer and till this point i can clearly see the overall utility value of the jacket. I picked up the pant lately and the first thing that hit me was the size. The pants are definitely smaller than the size mentioned. Dont go by Jeans size. Use a proper measuring tape and measure around your belly button. That reference will be the closest.<br><br>If you are wearing a 34 jeans and have atheletic build or even some fat around your waist, go for XL or 2XL.<br><br>I picked 2XL inspite of XL fitting me for i may want to add another layer based on cold weather. I also have couple of long welcrow tapes that i tie close to the sastec to ensure its not floating around and probably end up not protecting the parts it should.<br><br>Always calculate for the additional two layers inside.<br><br>The thermal and Goretex work wonders. YOu may not need a heated clothing if you are all layer up and all you need a glove to match it. I infact have an heated glove to complement.<br><br>At 40deg even without the Thermal layer it was completely fine. I am sure the winter can be managed with GTX.<br><br>Another point to note is ease of washing.<br><br>If you want to connect the jacket and pants, the easiest way is to connect it before wearing, wear the pants and pull over the jacket before zipping and locking the pants.<br><br>There is no way you can connect the pant and jacket once worn

Again WOW!!!
As with the matching jacket this is gear that lives up to the hype. Be sure to get your sizing right and it will fit like a glove and perform fantastic. Loving it every ride.

Great product
I started using them a week ago and they are soft and they are not heavy. You will be very warm using the goretex and the termal liner. I havent tryed them yet in rain. I will coment after that.

I have a Sand 2 jacket. I tried the Sand 2 pants and the Defender pants on in a store, and I thought the hip padding in the Defender pants was a lot more comfortable than the hip padding in the Sand 2 pants.
TeddyJ on Aug 19, 2013
Florida weather made me choose the matching jacket (best airflow reviews in a Gore-Tex jacket), so I had to get the pants too. I wish the pants had forgone the extra layers of 'comfort' material inside the outer shell and attached the Gore-Tex layer directly after the protective outer layer to reduce bulk. I wear them with the Gore-Tex layer in more often than I use it in my jacket because it's so much effort to remove both linings and then carry them around and then put them in when it rains.

Does this product work well as an overpant? Much of my riding will be commuting? If so, how would I size it (1 size up?)? If not, what is another overpant that works well with the REV'IT Defender jacket? Thanks
James M on Dec 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I use these as overpants worn over jeans, with a few caveats. First, I ordered them 1 size larger than would have been indicated by the sizing chart. I'm able to wear them as overpants either alone or with the goretex liner. As the pants fit for me, I can't squeeze in the thinsulate liner over jeans. They're a little snug in the thigh area, so if you deadlift more than 400lbs, that may be a limiting factor.
I'm 6'0" and 170lbs. From your experience, what would be the correct size for me?
A shopper on May 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am 5"10" and 185 lbs and have size XL. My inseam is 31". They are a little long, although I am not walking on them, but more importantly when I am sitting on my bike the knee pads are in the perfect position and my ankles are covered. I didn't want them to ride up high on my legs and not provided protection/warmth to my ankle area. Remember they are not worn as overpants. I wear just underwear or long johns and a t shirt on top. At your height I would think about going up a size from XL. The sleeves on the jacket are the perfect length. There is plenty of adjustments to tighten both the jacket and pants.
A user mentioned that they have added a hook in addition to the snap for the pants. Is that true?
A shopper on Jul 8, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Very nice. I just received them and indeed they have a hook and a nice snap. True about sizing. I normally take an XL with a 29-30 inseem... ordered the XXL short and they fit perfectly.

Love 'em. Thanks.
I have a Rev'It Airwave jacket, will these pants zip in to it? I'd also like to know if it's possible to buy a Rev'It goretex jacket liner separately.
A shopper on Apr 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The easier method is to zip it together, get into your pants(Dont zip it yet), throw over the jacket like a 1piece suit and get the jacket going. This is far very easy.

When you are taking out, similarly remove the jacket and let it hang around the hip and remove the pants.

Not elegant on the road, but works perfectly fine if you can simply sit on a chair.
Can it be used as summer pants? If I removed the thermal and waterproof liners?

Thanks
Maxime C on Dec 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Pants will work great for summer with both liners out. Great pants
I have an Airwave jacket. Will these pants zip in to the jacket?
Nicholas L on Apr 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes the pant actually have two zippers. Great fit.
Are these pants made, or do they go well with the Revit Outback jacket? Thanks.
Fernando C on Feb 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I really do not know as I purchased both the Defender GTX pants and jacket. I can tell you that the Defender GTX jacket runs small. I typically wear a size large and had to go to an XL to get the proper fit.
I am looking for an overpant. I'm 6'4" tall weight 220 and have a 36 inch inseam. I had good luck with the Joe rocket long pants but the rise was too short. Most manufacturers think that a tall size simply means lengthening the legs, but tall people are tall over, and without the rise being longer pants ride up, moving the armor out of place, and are very uncomfortable.
Do you know of any manufacturers who have caught on to this?
A shopper on Mar 28, 2015
