REV'IT! Defender GTX Pants (2XL) 4.6 5 39 39
Great Pants, a bit on the small side These are great pants. They are discontinued but based on the general quality and features I'd buy Rev'it again. I must say I prefer liners to built in liners. The Gor really works, every other rain protection I've had feels like a sauna. This actually breaths. Ventilation is ok but not great. Stay moving and you'll be fine. The workman ship has been great so far, maybe I just got lucky. Fit is another story. They fit small, really small. I'm usually an XL at most, I got these in a XXL based on the fit charts and they are tight around the waist. My guess is this is from the old "European" fit model. Please accommodate us fatties!!!! Other than that they are excellent, the first high quality riding pants I've owned. October 12, 2015
Excellent Product. For all season weather I picked the jacket during summer and till this point i can clearly see the overall utility value of the jacket. I picked up the pant lately and the first thing that hit me was the size. The pants are definitely smaller than the size mentioned. Dont go by Jeans size. Use a proper measuring tape and measure around your belly button. That reference will be the closest. If you are wearing a 34 jeans and have atheletic build or even some fat around your waist, go for XL or 2XL. I picked 2XL inspite of XL fitting me for i may want to add another layer based on cold weather. I also have couple of long welcrow tapes that i tie close to the sastec to ensure its not floating around and probably end up not protecting the parts it should. Always calculate for the additional two layers inside. The thermal and Goretex work wonders. YOu may not need a heated clothing if you are all layer up and all you need a glove to match it. I infact have an heated glove to complement. At 40deg even without the Thermal layer it was completely fine. I am sure the winter can be managed with GTX. Another point to note is ease of washing. If you want to connect the jacket and pants, the easiest way is to connect it before wearing, wear the pants and pull over the jacket before zipping and locking the pants. There is no way you can connect the pant and jacket once worn October 9, 2015
Stellar pants If you still see your size available at the discount price, buy them. I've gone from 20F to 100F in these without issues. I've been in about 500 miles of solid rain in them and managed to get a small bit wet at the velcro spot where the thigh vents are. Awesome buy. June 9, 2015
Awesome pants the fit a little small (bought XL-tall). But awesome pants. April 27, 2015
good pants Since I bought these pants I haven't had a chance to test them out on the road because the weather the last couple of weeks has been horrible. They seem to fit well and look good. They run pretty small in my opinion. I'm sure they will work well since the jacket does. April 27, 2015
Awesome, just needs a reinforced seat. I am moving from Super Sport to adventure sport so this style of gear/riding is relatively new to me. So here are my initial Impressions After receiving this jacket/pants combo I went through it with a fine tooth comb looking for flaws. The over all build of the Pants is of good quality. I would have liked to see the fabric little more reinforced in high abrasion areas with the super fabric, especially on the seat area where the fabric feels as thin as low abrasion areas. The elasticated panels might be flawed on my pants, but on the other side they feel fine. the seems on the other side aren't ribbed as if the needle/glue missed that particular area. This could be me just being knit picky so I am not too worried about it. The thermal layer feels plush and warm and seams of equal quality. Going over the Gore-Tex liner it looks and feels like it will hold against rain however I have yet to try it out. Rear pockets would have been a great addition or at least a couple of water proof fronts. Velcro for venting gives me the impression it might wear out a bit quicker than the rest of the jacket. I particularly like how you can use one liner without having to use the other. The ankles zip in place. I wish the jacket had a similar feature for the cuffs. The have a large that fits really well and doesn't offer much additional room for additional clothing for a slimmer guy(that or a I'm a big guy with a slim mirror). with that said if it isn't warm enough for you, you might be able to sneak in some thermal under-armor. The customer service team did specify these aren't over pants. Out of all the liner pants I have looked into/researched/considered I find this particular set to be of good quality for the price and am happy with this being my number 1 pick. Unfortunately I do not have any road time as of yet, nor have the tags been removed. Ill update as soon as I can give more info on the function February 23, 2015
Great Pants See my Jacket review. Found that these had been put on clearance so was able to get the pants with the money I saved on the jacket! Great pants, great price! February 11, 2015
Great Pants I bought these along with the matching Jacket for cooler weather riding. I wanted waterproof and good protection. Very happy with the Defender GTX line. Linings are not too hard to remove and re-install. Fabric is soft and not crunchy. I'm 6'1.5" 218 lbs. 30" inseam. I had to exchange the size L for the size XL because my thighs would not fit into the pants. The bottom of the pants is tight over my MX boots, but fits. Fit is much better over my ADV boots. Theodore J: I have a Sand 2 jacket. I tried the Sand 2 pants and the Defender pants on in a store, and I thought the hip padding in the Defender pants was a lot more comfortable than the hip padding in the Sand 2 pants. Aug 19, 2013
David V: Florida weather made me choose the matching jacket (best airflow reviews in a Gore-Tex jacket), so I had to get the pants too. I wish the pants had forgone the extra layers of 'comfort' material inside the outer shell and attached the Gore-Tex layer directly after the protective outer layer to reduce bulk. I wear them with the Gore-Tex layer in more often than I use it in my jacket because it's so much effort to remove both linings and then carry them around and then put them in when it rains. Aug 14, 2013
James M asked: Does this product work well as an overpant? Much of my riding will be commuting? If so, how would I size it (1 size up?)? If not, what is another overpant that works well with the REV'IT Defender jacket? Thanks Dec 18, 2014

Bobby S: On this product, definitely size up, although not sure on 1 or 2 sizes. I have the pants and like them - but they are not designed as overpants. they'd be too tight over jeans for instance.

Also, just as an fyi, if you are between lengths, go longer. I wish i'd bought longer. Since the pants have some thickness to them, when seated on the bike they "ride up" more than regular pants. Fine with riding boots but not so much with shorter height shoes.

Christopher E: I use these as overpants worn over jeans, with a few caveats. First, I ordered them 1 size larger than would have been indicated by the sizing chart. I'm able to wear them as overpants either alone or with the goretex liner. As the pants fit for me, I can't squeeze in the thinsulate liner over jeans. They're a little snug in the thigh area, so if you deadlift more than 400lbs, that may be a limiting factor. Dec 19, 2014

David B: I wear a 36 waist and the large fits very well. It is a great over pant and I am very pleased with my selection. I did remove the liner and use heated, uninsulated liner in place, along with my jeans. Let me know if you need more specific info. Dec 18, 2014

A shopper asked: I'm 6'0" and 170lbs. From your experience, what would be the correct size for me? May 5, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Richard G: I am 5"10" and 185 lbs and have size XL. My inseam is 31". They are a little long, although I am not walking on them, but more importantly when I am sitting on my bike the knee pads are in the perfect position and my ankles are covered. I didn't want them to ride up high on my legs and not provided protection/warmth to my ankle area. Remember they are not worn as overpants. I wear just underwear or long johns and a t shirt on top. At your height I would think about going up a size from XL. The sleeves on the jacket are the perfect length. There is plenty of adjustments to tighten both the jacket and pants. May 5, 2014

Jeff S: In my opinion the sizing guide near the bottom of the page is pretty accurate. The best way to get a good fit is to use a measuring tape to determine your waist, hip and inseam measurements. Given your height and weight I think you'll probably end up with a medium long length. The folks at Revzilla are also really good at finding you the right size, so give them a call. Whatever the case, Revzilla has a great return policy as long as you return them in new condition...i.e, don't remove the tags unless you're happy with the fit. May 5, 2014

A S: Depends on how you want to travel. I often travel with a jeans and wear these over them. Which makes me get almost 1 to 1.5 size larger to manage all the layers.

In case of the protective armors i just use a long velcro to tiem them around knee to keep them in place. The pants to me run a size lower unlike the jackets and its better to get 1 size over.

Ken M: First I'd say...check the measurements in their size chart. For me they were accurate. If you're looking for pants to wear alone (not as overpants) my guess would be size medium... depending on your inseam you may consider the talls. I'm 5'11" and generally wear 32x34 jeans and the medium (not tall..not short) fit well for me. May 5, 2014

christopher n: i'm 6'0" and 175lbs and these fit perfectly. my inseam is 30" and outseam 42". i wear a pair of SIDI gortex boots which fit perfectly under the bottom cuffs as well. if you take out the different linings, then you have a lighter product and it still fits very well. goes with the jacket like PB & J.

the build quality is great, prebends in the all the right places, zips, buttons, pockets, vents all extremely well crafted and seams are watertight.

bostonbear: Very nice. I just received them and indeed they have a hook and a nice snap. True about sizing. I normally take an XL with a 29-30 inseem... ordered the XXL short and they fit perfectly.

Love 'em. Thanks.

A shopper asked: I have a Rev'It Airwave jacket, will these pants zip in to it? I'd also like to know if it's possible to buy a Rev'It goretex jacket liner separately. Apr 27, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
A S: The easier method is to zip it together, get into your pants(Dont zip it yet), throw over the jacket like a 1piece suit and get the jacket going. This is far very easy.

When you are taking out, similarly remove the jacket and let it hang around the hip and remove the pants.

Not elegant on the road, but works perfectly fine if you can simply sit on a chair.

Steve L: I really do not know as I purchased both the Defender GTX pants and jacket. I can tell you that the Defender GTX jacket runs small. I typically wear a size large and had to go to an XL to get the proper fit. Feb 8, 2015

A shopper asked: I am looking for an overpant. I'm 6'4" tall weight 220 and have a 36 inch inseam. I had good luck with the Joe rocket long pants but the rise was too short. Most manufacturers think that a tall size simply means lengthening the legs, but tall people are tall over, and without the rise being longer pants ride up, moving the armor out of place, and are very uncomfortable.
Do you know of any manufacturers who have caught on to this?
