The Pod website recommends to use a Pod tool to measure the width of the knee, but of course I don't have access to that tool.
Do you have any suggestions?

Knee width measurement should be taken across the center of the knee. Take the measurements in a weight-bearing position at full extension of the knee (with leg completely straight).
