Nolan N90S Helmet (XS Only) 4.5 5 287 287
Wonderful except for the noise level The helmet has good features and fits pretty well, but I am not happy with the noise level. Probably all modular helmets are like that, but the wind is very loud (I cannot hear my 600cc bike at all at higher speed). Also the sun visor got some very bad scratches after the first couple of uses... I guess it gets scratched inside the helmet every time you use it. Another problem I had with the helmet is that the two main screws holding the lower module constantly get loose. The first time I noticed that they were almost completely unscrewed. So far I had to tighten them three times. I use this helmet very frequently to commute to work and if you would only use it once every week or two then you might like it. October 28, 2014
Great Modular Helmet I purchased this helmet from Revzilla and it has been great. I have never had a modular helmet before but now I can never go back. It is so easy to get on and off without removing my glasses. The other couple of things that rock are the Nolan ez buckle and the internal sun screen that really makes this helmet a pleasure to wear. Excellent Product Fit is perfect, air flow is good. Quality workmanship. Great helmet. March 10, 2014
Great product. The Nolan N90 helmet comes at an amazing price point, it is very well built, made in Italy and fits true to size. I believe it has a round oval shape so it may not fit all head shapes. I have several friends that use this helmet and all of them were impressed by how quiet it is compared with other, more expensive helmet brands they used in the past. The internal visor does not distort at all, the eye port is very wide. The chin guard is very flimsy, it pops out of its place every time I take the helmet off, they could improve on that one a bit. It was not easy to install a Sena communicator, the shape of the helmet bottom edge is such that the mounting hardware is forced out when the screws are tighten. I bet that Nolan's own communication devices fit well though. The weight is also not great when compared with carbon fiber helmets, but it is not heavier than other modular helmets currently available. Overall, a very well built helmet, a bargain for the price, especially when on sale. March 3, 2014
Good buy for the Money It was a bit snug getting it on but I like the fit of the helmet. This is my second Nolan and I buy for the integrated communications and quality. I wish they weren't so noisy, that really cuts down on hearing the GPS. Noise level is the only negative about them. March 3, 2014
Best Helmet Yet I'm not one to buy a super expensive helmet. I've never owned one so I'm sure they're maybe worth the money in style and comfort. This is probably the most I put into a helmet and its the best I've had. Noise level is great. I can hear my music and calls. Fits my head better. The optional defogger insert is probably the best feature. Love this helmet... Buy it February 3, 2014
comfortable fit the helmet fits comfortable and the pin lock system is awesome, as with a lot of modular helmets it is heavy so bikes that have an aggressive riding posture, you will tend to feel the weight January 26, 2014
Good quality at inexpensive cost. Normally to get the features this helmet has, you would have to spend a lot more money. I have only used this helmet in the colder months so far (down to -7C°) & I would not have been able to do that with my old helmet due to the fact that I would not have been able to see because of a foggy shield. The double fog shield in this helmet proved to be an asset when it comes to cooler riding. I hope it is not too hot in the summer. January 3, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
William R: This style helmet is what I have been riding with (Nolan N100E). I am very happy with the tilt up chin guard/face shield that I am buying this N90S for my wife. She can not wear a full face helmet, she feels too closed in, and I think that this style will suit her. Also I believe they are the same color, so that will be cool. Thank you, Bill Apr 10, 2014
John J: Has the features I want and looks good Feb 16, 2014
Paul C: Over the past few years, Nolan has proven to be a excellent choice for safety, comfort and value. I don't think you can find a better helmet at twice the price. Jan 21, 2014
manuel g: Nolan has a good reputation. The price is good. Nice features sun shield, pin set, comm ready. Oct 1, 2013
Mario S: great price for a modular helmet. Sep 8, 2013
A shopper asked: Hi, Can any communication system fit on this Nolan helmet? Or I need to buy a Nolan com? Thanks May 28, 2014

Joni F: – Any? I do not know if any can be connected what I can give you advice on is connecting the Sena SMH10 unit to the helmet. I chose to utilize the clamping system that comes with the SMH10 on to the helmet. Because of this and the location of the inside connection of the cheek pad I had to place the unit a little farther away from the ideal location for the microphone. If I would do this again I would take advantage of the SMH10 glue/tape/stick on option that comes with the unit. Because I chose this method I had to cut a small 1” wide section of the lower plastic cowl that is a detachable plastic piece on the helmet to fit the unit snug against the helmet. Feeding the wires and putting in the ear speakers into the helmet was a snap because it already has wire locations and ear sockets built into the foam inside the helmet. I had to cut a very minute piece of the inside foam to fit the ear speaker fully but it was only about 1mm of material.

If you choose to use the clamp on method make sure you make careful note of the location of the snaps to hold the helmet pads in place or you will block your ability to reattach the liner.

Scott S: I put in a set of Sena SMH10 dual. I had to cut out a bit longer area for the mounting clamp. If you are gentle with an exacto knife it is easy to cut the slit. Looks great and works amazing. Have had no problems.

Alcuin R: I do not have a communication but if you plan to you need to get the one from Nolan. The slots to install communication system are precisely cut to fit Nolan system. If u can find one with same dimensions, you're in luck. May 28, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi, I am shopping around for a modular helmet and have questions about shapes for different brands. I have a 61mm head and I currently wear an Arai Quantum and RX7-RR that fit great. Can you steer me to brands and models that are int oval to long oval? Oct 26, 2014

Tyler K: I have an N90S and if you are intermediate to long pal I would say this helmet is gong to be too round for you. I am about in the middle of intermediate and I almost sent it back. Now that it is broken in I love it, but if you lean to the long side it is unlikely this will be comfortable for you. Oct 27, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi is the Nolan communication system the only one that will fit this helmet? I already have a communication system... Thanks. May 28, 2014

gerald o: No. You can put an aftermarket system in it if you wish to. I have a Sena SMH10 mounted on mine. It works fine.

I did pack the speakers out with added foam, otherwise the speakers were too far away from my ears and the bass was all but lost. sounds much better now.

A shopper asked: Torn between Nolan N90 and Scorpion EXO-500. Which do I pick and why? Nov 26, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chris K: These are totally different helmets, so they don't compare as apples to apples. The EXO-500 is a great sport or sport/touring helmet and is even preferred by cruiser riders as well.

The Nolan N90 is a modular helmet with a front flip-face. Modulars are great as a convenience feature for commuters and/or touring, however, then tend to run a bit noisier and heavier than most full-face helmets.

Adam91: I can only speak for the Nolan N90s, which is what I own. If you have a round head like myself, go with the Nolan. It also has great features like the visor that "notches" up for varying degrees of air flow, and the built-in "top gun" shades that I really love. It's also modular which I like a lot. Can't speak to the EXO but the Nolan is fantastically well built (made in Italy). Mar 26, 2013

A shopper asked: What does the "S" moniker designate? May 2, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chris K: Other than a few small design changes aesthetically, the only difference is that the N90 comes with a pinlock shield and the N90S does not. May 3, 2011

Larry J: The N90 comes with the pin lock anti-fog system and in several more colors than the N90S. Other than that, no difference as far as I know. May 12, 2011

A shopper asked: I'm stuck between the Nolan N90S Helmet and the GMax GM54 helmets. What do you all suggest? I want a good modular helmet that I can wear year round through the cold and the heat of California. Any input is appreciated. Thanks Apr 4, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
manuel g: After having installed the pinlock visor onto the helmet there was a considerable amount of wind penetration at the gasket seal. I have abandoned the use of this helmet during winter months.
You shold also be advised that helmets made in 2010 (date on my helmet) has a recall to repair scratchs on the VSP that impair vision.
