Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact Front Tires

The new Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact allows the rider to keep everything under control. The Road Tec Z8 follows the rider's instincts with a sublime blend of precise and effortless handing. The wet weather handling of motorcycle tires, and especially the braking performance in wet conditions, is becoming an increasingly important feature demanded by the sport-touring rider. This rider requirement occurs especially if it rains suddenly and a high level of security is needed. Metzeler designed the Z8 with the demands of modern sport riders in mind.

Features:

  • Multi Zone Tension technology, new updated tread profiles and functional tread pattern place the Z8 Roadtec Interact at the top of the sport touring tire class
  • M-Spec tires feature a bi-compound design
  • 8% wider final footprint area than its predecessor due to the variation of steel belt tensions and a strategically placed tread pattern which optimizes pressures in the footprint area
  • 0° Steel Radial technology
  • MAW (Metzeler Advanced Winding) technology
  • The profile shape, inspired by the Greek letter "Pi", maximizes the flexibility of the profile, thus ensuring an optimum tire footprint under in all conditions
  • The 3-zone-tension Interact ™ Technology gives outstanding mileage and sporty cornering grip
  • FCM (Fine Carbon Mix) High Silica compound with Nano particles ensures performance and safety in all weather conditions
  • Innovative tread pattern, a widened and more elliptical footprint and a host of wear-resistant technologies not normally seen in motorcycle tires give the Roadtec Z8 Interact its best-in-segment mileage and optimal wet performance throughout the tires life
  • New patented tread pattern with strategically placed longitudinal central grooves provide ideal drainage for more than 3/4 of all lean angles in the wet. The remaining tread grooves work to add tread flexibility, extending the footprint for stability in the dry
  • Updated design improves wear regularity which gives riders the benefit of a consistent riding performance across the tires entire life
  • E Spec tire is OE on Honda NC700X
  • (W)-rated for speeds of 168+ mph

Great Tire!
I ride a 1992 Honda Cbr600F2 and I usually run it very hard up mountains. I have run the Z8 M-spec for about 7500 miles now. I'm sure I could get about 8000 on it but I'm wanting to change the pair together instead of a few weeks apart. Great price for the mileage and great grip in the rain, I feel very confident in whatever I throw at this tire.

Metzeler product claims and other reviews are right on the mark. Too many companies exaggerate their product's qualities. My K1600GTL is often loaded to max gross. These tires give good wear and good traction, rain or shine.

BEST VALUE FOR SPORT TOURERS AND ALL WEATHER RIDERS
Metzeler Roadtec tires are great in sporty dry weather canyon carving conditions and confidence inspiring in wet weather. The profile of the tire makes handling very good as well on all medium or heavy sport-tourers. Interstate long distance or aggressive sports riders will both enjoy the benefits of Metzeler's Roadtec Z-8 interact line.

Sticking with them.
Had Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interacts as OEM on my BMW R1200RT. Liked so well, and lasted so long, I'm sticking with them as replacements at over 11,000 miles.

Fantastic tire.
After mounting the tires on my 90 Katana I went for a 100 mile ride.
Once the tires heated up they performed fantastic. My bike never handle so good. On my second ride with a passenger the bike was even better. Do your self a favor and get some for your bike. You won't regret it.

Great Tire, Would Recommend
I've had these tires for about 500 miles now as a replacement for the Dunlop D222s that came stock on my CBR500. Compared to the Dunlops, they seem to have a slightly more aggressive feel. I've ridden one these tires in cool mornings, hot afternoons, pouring rains, and they have performed well in all cases. Can't comment too much on the tire life yet, but so far these seem like a good bang for the buck.

Good tires
My 2015 BMW R1200R came with these tires. I have no complaints, other than I wish that they would last longer, but isn't that the case with all motorcycle tires? Traction is excellent on all road surface and wet traction is unexpectedly good.

With just over 7k miles on them, the rear tire is probably good for another 1k to 2k and the front tire should last another 1k, maybe more. That is not bad for a sport touring tire that has such good traction. Tread wear has been even with no cupping or other defects.

After doing a lot of research, I have decided to use the same tires when these ones are worn out. There does not appear to be a tire on the market that is any better for sport touring.

As good as it gets in this segment
Finally a tire that'll last and still give good service as it goes down. I ran mine all the way down to the wear-bars (OK, not smart) while out on a multi-day trip and they never gave up traction. In the rain they continued to grip nearly as well as new right up to the day they got changed out. Day-to-day service is as good as it gets in this segment. They resist "squaring off" as well as anything I've seen and let my SV1K do what it's supposed to do....

I chose the Roadtec Z8 tires mostly for the tread pattern which looks like it will be less likely to cup. I have Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT's on my 2012 Moto Guzzi Norge GT 8V and the front tire is severely cupped and the rear tire is worn flat in the middle. With less grooves that run across the tire, like the Pilot Roads, I think it will have a better chance of resisting cupping.

Revzilla has great prices on Metzler this month, and Metzler has a $50 Rebate ( on a front-rear set), too. Fantastic net cost, too good to pass up. Don't you agree? After rebate, $225 for the pair!

My 2002 BMW R1150r currently has the Z6 on it and they are about worn out, I like the way they handle and have not had any problems out of them, I figured the Z8 is the new tire to the Z6 so why not run with the new tires, My BMW dealer could not get the Z8's they gave me a price for the Z6 that was about the same as the Z8.
BMWR1150R on Aug 30, 2015
Read a review of Sport Touring Tires in the 29.5.2015 Issue of Motorrad Magazine (German). The Metzeler Z8 M/O was rated top. My two most recent Tire Sets were Pirelli Angel St and Angle GT...both great tires IMO. It's just that Metzeler is owned by Pirelli so somehow these two brands seems to "leap-frog" one another.

difference between metzeler roadtec z8 120/70/zr17 e 58w and 120/70/zr17 m-spec 58w
A shopper on Apr 27, 2013
BEST ANSWER: "M-Spec" or O-Spec denotes that the tire is a dual-compound, and typically used on heavy (loaded or two-up) touring machines to help increase the tire's life. The center contact patch is a harder compound than the sides to reduce the likelihood of a flat-spot forming.
Which size front tire do I need for a BMW K1600GTL?
N Andrew R on Aug 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: 120/70-17 would be the size you need. Be sure it is Z rated when ordering.
it fits on my motorcycle with wire-spoked wheels?
A shopper on Sep 11, 2012
BEST ANSWER: As long as you are ordering the correct size to fit your rim and are still using tubes, any tubeless tire will work on a spoked rim.
