Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact Front Tires

The new Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact allows the rider to keep everything under control. The tire follows the riders instincts with a sublime blend of precise and effortless handing. The wet weather handling of motorcycle tires, and especially the braking performance in wet conditions, is becoming an increasingly important feature demanded by the sport-touring rider. This rider requirement occurs especially if it rains suddenly and a high level of security is needed. Metzeler designed the Z8 with the demands of modern sport riders in mind.

Features:

  • Multi Zone Tension technology, new updated tread profiles and functional tread pattern place the Z8 Roadtec Interact at the top of the sport touring tire class
  • M-Spec and O-Spec tires feature a bi-compound design
  • 8% wider final footprint area than its predecessor due to the variation of steel belt tensions and a strategically placed tread pattern which optimizes pressures in the footprint area
  • 0° Steel Radial technology
  • MAW (Metzeler Advanced Winding) technology
  • The profile shape, inspired by the Greek letter "Pi", maximizes the flexibility of the profile, thus ensuring an optimum tire footprint under in all conditions
  • The 3-zone-tension Interact ™ Technology gives outstanding mileage and sporty cornering grip
  • FCM (Fine Carbon Mix) High Silica compound with Nano particles ensures performance and safety in all weather conditions
  • Innovative tread pattern, a widened and more elliptical footprint and a host of wear-resistant technologies not normally seen in motorcycle tires give the Roadtec Z8 Interact its best-in-segment mileage and optimal wet performance throughout the tires life
  • New patented tread pattern with strategically placed longitudinal central grooves provide ideal drainage for more than 3/4 of all lean angles in the wet. The remaining tread grooves work to add tread flexibility, extending the footprint for stability in the dry
  • Updated design improves wear regularity which gives riders the benefit of a consistent riding performance across the tires entire life
  • E Spec tire is OE on Honda NC700X
  • (W)-rated for speeds of 168+ mph

Great Tire! I ride a 1992 Honda Cbr600F2 and I usually run it very hard up mountains. I have run the Z8 M-spec for about 7500 miles now. I'm sure I could get about 8000 on it but I'm wanting to change the pair together instead of a few weeks apart. Great price for the mileage and great grip in the rain, I feel very confident in whatever I throw at this tire. May 25, 2015
Only have 500 miles on it but great tire & sure tread life will ge great. great handling & sticks like glue in the rain. I'm sure tread life will be great. June 8, 2015
Bad design. A dangerous tire. I've had three pair of these tires on my Concourse. The problem is there are no discernible wear indicators. You will go very suddenly from what appears to be a good tire to what in reality is a dangerous tire with threads showing. I got stranded because of this and will never use these tires again. Others have reported this as well. Should have listened to the forums. March 22, 2015
Made In Germany One thing about Germans is that they make great tires. The tire looks great and performs excellent. October 9, 2014
Maybe I will buy again I was satisfied with the Z8s overall but I didn't have enough confidence in them to give them a 5 star rating. I know this isn't the tire's fault but I got two flats in the rear tires. I replaced the tire after the first flat while it only had 3000 miles on it and the second rear tire had 6400 miles on it when it got flat. Front had 9400 miles on it and still seemed to have a 1000 or more left. But since I was replacing the rear I did the front as well. I also had the rear break loose a couple of times which I didn't care for either. As for handling they did for the most part very well. The front I should say since it performed great for 9400 miles. I may buy again but first I want to see how other tires perform before going back. I just put on Bridgestone T30s and will see how they do compared to the Z8s. September 27, 2014
Sticking with them. Had Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interacts as OEM on my BMW R1200RT. Liked so well, and lasted so long, I'm sticking with them as replacements at over 11,000 miles. May 12, 2014
Good grip, very long wearing. BMW R1200R, OEM tires. 11,500 miles and still tread left. Never had a tire slip in wet or dry. Was meticulous about pressures. Replacing for max safety, but could easily get 1-2K more miles. Would like to try other tires out of curiosity, but can't imagine how others could be better, so gonna replace Z8s. June 14, 2014
Good commuter tire FWIW I've been through a few of these on the rear of my Superhawk and they work fine. I probably am more of an aggressive corner-er than most commuters but there is a strip of unused rubber 1/2 of an inch or so on the edges. A lot of riding is done in straight lines. For me the tread life exceeds the original Dunlop D204ks by about 2K miles. Honestly what's more important to me than anything else is to get a decent tire, know it well and use the same model so I can forget about it and just ride. These fit the bill and I will keep buying them as long as they are sold. They are consistent quality items. February 11, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Robert B: My 2002 BMW R1150r currently has the Z6 on it and they are about worn out, I like the way they handle and have not had any problems out of them, I figured the Z8 is the new tire to the Z6 so why not run with the new tires, My BMW dealer could not get the Z8's they gave me a price for the Z6 that was about the same as the Z8. A R: Read a review of Sport Touring Tires in the 29.5.2015 Issue of Motorrad Magazine (German). The Metzeler Z8 M/O was rated top. My two most recent Tire Sets were Pirelli Angel St and Angle GT...both great tires IMO. It's just that Metzeler is owned by Pirelli so somehow these two brands seems to "leap-frog" one another. A shopper asked: difference between metzeler roadtec z8 120/70/zr17 e 58w and 120/70/zr17 m-spec 58w Apr 27, 2013

RevZilla: "M-Spec" or O-Spec denotes that the tire is a dual-compound, and typically used on heavy (loaded or two-up) touring machines to help increase the tire's life. The center contact patch is a harder compound than the sides to reduce the likelihood of a flat-spot forming. May 2, 2013

A shopper asked: it fits on my motorcycle with wire-spoked wheels? Sep 11, 2012

RevZilla: As long as you are ordering the correct size to fit your rim and are still using tubes, any tubeless tire will work on a spoked rim. Sep 11, 2012
