RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
John G: A fair price for what should be a valuable product. Apr 17, 2014
Philip N: I am hoping to reduce the amount of dirt and moisture that's been finding its way into my battery & wiring harness tray on my r1200gs. Apr 8, 2014
A shopper asked: I just put new Ohlins on my R12GS and have looked at the Machine Art Moto Mudsling for $149.00 and this similar Maier product for $53.00. The Moto Mudsling looks to be a bit larger and have better coverage but, my question is; what is the difference between the two aside from the huge price difference......is the Moto Mudsling 3 times as good as the Maier product?

Ken M M: Hey Fred, Myself and two of my friends all have the maier product and have found them to be excellent. I looked at the moto product and honestly could not find a solid reason to pay way more for it. We installed them on 2 different gs machines. The 700 and, two 800's and it was easy to install and the coverage was perfect. Next to my skid plate it has been the best aftermarket part that I put on. My motor and shock remain pretty dirt free and we do a lot of off road riding. For a part that goes unnoticed its one of the first things I would put on any gs. I'm sure the mudslinger will do the same job as the maier but there is no way it will do three times the job. To be honest I would say performance wise you would find zero difference between the two. Hope this makes your decision a little easier

Cheers, Kenny.

vince v: I asked same question about the one for the f700 but ordered anyway. when it came it was just a piece of plastic, until I fitted it and used it. Maier fit perfect, was cheaper, and works excellent. I would buy theirs again in a second. I can only say it works perfect for me, does the job, and goes on easy. Nov 25, 2013

Matthew J: No the mudsling would not be 3x better. Just installed the maier last night. Bit tricky to do the final adjustments but overall fits excellent and looks great. Save your money for fuel. The maier is as advertised. Nov 25, 2013

Phil S: Absolutely go with the Maier. I just installed new Yacugar shocks on my GS and needed some protection. Put the money saved toward a night at a Hampton Inn on your next trip! Nov 25, 2013
