BMW GSA rear fender
Easy to install and provides solid coverage for the shock and battery box. I will be taking it off road this weekend to test if it provides the coverage it shows, but I have no doubt it will work better than without

great bang for the buck
This product is half the price of the MaMo product and does the same job equally well. Why pay more for the same results?

Good product
Took 10 minutes to install and protects the entire shock area and forward end of rear wheel from debris.
Considering it was a plastic mold with only 2 screws and 4 zip ties, it could be slightly cheaper.
BMW should have this taken care of in the first place, but quite happy with it.

Why pay more?
Clearly a knock off of a much more expensive rear fender but who cares? You really can't see it and it does the job perfectly
A little difficulty getting the two screws in but the tie wraps totally secure the fender in place with zero movement. I'd say this product is totally worth it. Like I said absolutely no reason to pay more.

GOOD PROTECTION
Had the rear shock on my 2005 R1200GS rebuilt and wanted to give it some protection. There are numerous choices this being the most reasonably priced. The product is easy to install and provides the protection I was looking for.

A product that BMW probably should have installed to begin with.
With every sand pit, water crossing, and muddy trail I've conquered, I've also welcomed all of those elements up into my battery and fuse-block area beneath my seat. The Maier fender was installed on my 1200gs in about 5 minutes, and it's provided an excellent barrier of protection - and looks pretty sharp as well.

Reviews were positive, and the function was desired to lessen the grit and grime that would accumulate on the shock from typical muddy conditions. Installation was very easy and it does the job well.

I bought this to protect my new Ohlins shock. I considerd a shock sock but thought it would cause over heating.

Good price for a piece of kit to keep road gunk out of my suspension. Compare it to the Mud Sling at 3x the price and the same looks and function.

Does this fit a 2015 GSA 1200?
A shopper on Mar 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have it installed on a 2007 GS1200. This product is great! However, I can't confirm it'll work on your bike. If it does, you will be very satisfied with it.
I just put new Ohlins on my R12GS and have looked at the Machine Art Moto Mudsling for $149.00 and this similar Maier product for $53.00. The Moto Mudsling looks to be a bit larger and have better coverage but, my question is; what is the difference between the two aside from the huge price difference......is the Moto Mudsling 3 times as good as the Maier product?

Thanks
Fred Weldon

BEST ANSWER: Hey Fred, Myself and two of my friends all have the maier product and have found them to be excellent. I looked at the moto product and honestly could not find a solid reason to pay way more for it. We installed them on 2 different gs machines. The 700 and, two 800's and it was easy to install and the coverage was perfect. Next to my skid plate it has been the best aftermarket part that I put on. My motor and shock remain pretty dirt free and we do a lot of off road riding. For a part that goes unnoticed its one of the first things I would put on any gs. I'm sure the mudslinger will do the same job as the maier but there is no way it will do three times the job. To be honest I would say performance wise you would find zero difference between the two. Hope this makes your decision a little easier

Cheers, Kenny.
