Klim makes high end adventure pants and jackets. I can't afford their stuff, but I've read great testimonials about their new D30 armor. How comfortable it is, how protective it feels. When I wanted to upgrade the back protector on my speed and strength trial by fire jacket to something CE rated I saw this and thought "this has got to be a mistake." The high end protector is one of the cheapest available. Immediately bought it, installed it. Nicely ventilated, very happy.
Only con is it smells funny when you pull it out of the giant ziploc bag :)

I got this to replace the foam insert that came with my new kathmandu jacket. The rest of the jacket has d3o armor so i just went with the flow.
Pros:
1. The original insert offered no protection. Its a great fit and no trimming was needed.
2. It breaths well
3. You can hardly tell its there after it forms to your back while riding.
Cons:
1. Part of the mold was torn off, about 1inch for the wavy layer. I guess it was a defect but i doubt it will harm the protection.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this back protector for my Klim Traverse Jacket. Not too heavy or bulky. I've worn this combo in the 80 degree range and with the jacket vents open it stays cool. Even with a day pack on I can still feel airflow moving through it.
Very comfortable.

I have been trying to upgrade some of my armor lately and this is by far the best upgrade I have purchased. Aside from stock foam back protectors I have also tried sas-tech and although it seems protective it is heavy, less flexible and thick, it also is very stiff and flows little air. This back protector is pretty light and after clearing the air holes seems to flow as good or better than any other back protectors I have tried. The best part is the flexibility, thanks to the grooves and material it is extremely flexible and you barely notice it is there. I tested this on several jackets and it fit in the insert without modification. All medium jackets but fit in two different scorpion jackets (hellion and hat trick) as well as my speed and strength. Although it is a slightly different shape it seems to fit and not slip around at all. I may have to buy these in bulk and add them to all my jackets.

CE 2 protection, fit perfectly in my jacket, half price of the Dainese back protection. Very flexible, comfortable. Only cons I live in Arizona and it will be great to have more air flow. Revzilla is a great company, I love them videos, and the fastest service in all the web.

I got an inexpensive Bilt Mesh jacket that has good CE armor on the shoulders and elbow area but it has a lame foam insert for the back. I got this Back Protector and it went right in without any modification. It sits great on my back and I feel I now have enough protection in a jacket to get out on the highway. I had to poke holes in the back because the foam is covering them but after that the armor feels great. I recommend this to anyone looking for high quality and great protection.

I bought this protector because my jacket didn't come with one. I was a little unsure how much protection this would offer considering how soft it looks. But once I got it in and saw how it is constructed I could tell that this is way better the the cheap foam ones I've seen it over jackets. The airflow isn't perfect but I ride it AZ so I don't think anything is going to be perfect. But it's safe a keeps me as cool as the cheap foam. It is very comfortable when riding and you really don't even notice its there. It looks a little bulkier than I care for but I think you are going to get that with any decent protective back pad. I did have to cut the holes out with a razor but only took a few minutes. This pad is definitely worth the price for a level 2 pad and would recommend/buy this again. Jacket is a Dainese Air frame size 50

Answer:
Yes, the Viper T5 D30 Back Protector can be trimmed to fit. You may also be interested in the SAS-TEC back protector as well; it is reportedly easier to trim.

Please note that trimming either of these to fit will void any manufacturers warranties.

What are the Dimensions on This Item ? I Ask because I know that D30 is some pretty high tech armor and am wondering if I can fit this in the pocket on my current riding jacket which is not made by Klim. This looks like it could be a VERY nice and reasonably priced upgrade to a number of jackets that come with lower level PE padding

Answer:
I will have to measure when I get home, but it is easily cut to fit any pocket. Due to it's use of non-newtonian foam/fluid, cutting it will not lessen it's protection, although larger is always more protective.
