Klim Traverse Pants 4.7 5 50 50
Good waterproofing and venting I've had these pants for about a month now. They don't leak, vent well and fit nicely. I'm 6'1, 170 lbs and usually wear a 34/34 jeans and the 34 size pants were long enough and fit well in the waist. The velcro did come loose over the boot once while riding but that might have been my fault not making sure it was secured properly. No regrets on these great pants. September 14, 2015
Great riding pants for purpose & value. Great quality all weather riding pants. Good value for the price. Would have given a solid 5-star rating except that the pants only have one shallow pocket, not convenient for carrying wallet and other essentials. August 11, 2015
Great pants They keep you dry and warm. I only wear jeans underneath in the colder months and they're great. They stay dry in the rain although the butt seems to get wet in heavier rain but it's difficult to tell since I sweat a lot. There is some dampness, but again, I can't tell. Overall they're great June 10, 2015
quality materials, scotchguard, protection and guarantee! i like the look of my new klim traverse pants that match my jacket, but since it was my first, i was a bit disappointed that i didn't pay attention to the fact that it didn't have protection included. not to worry since klim sells all those pads albeit at a premium price. i haven't had to ride it in the rain, but look forward to the protection it offers. i purchased the regular-sized inseams only to find they were not tall enough for me so i returned them for longs. April 28, 2015
Comfortable Have yet to have a real good play with them but 1st impressions are very good. Well made, looks smart, very comfortable to wear, protection in the right places and a great over the boot fit and way of doing it. I generaly hate wearing long pants of all descriptions so for me to like these means they must be pretty good. I'm looking forward to using them more. Size wise they seem a little toward the big side so I wouldn't err too large. March 4, 2015
If you have the bread, its hard to go wrong with Klim Picked these up to complement my Latitude jacket. Colors are a bit different, but whatever. Over the boot design can let water from a good splash up into your pant leg, so tuck your base layers in. Leather on the inside of the leg is amazing. Total protection in rain, sleet, and snow with air temps down to 25 so far. I have not used the venting yet, but if its anything like my jacket I'm sure it's great. I'm a tall slender guy so I went with the 30 tall. Fit is great for me - seems more fitted than the Latitude pants I tried on in a 30. Overall, I am a very happy winter rider this year. December 8, 2014
Practical, durable and comfortable The pants are very comfortable and fit beautifully. Wore them during a heavy rain storm and stayed 100% dry. Would recommend them for anyone who wants a stylish yet practical and comfortable riding pant for any kind of foul weather riding. October 27, 2014
Drier than a summer day The second day I had these we had a horrible storm system come through the mountains. I thought "what a perfect time to test the pants". With these pants and the matching jacket I was dry as a bone. Maybe I should have ordered the tall version, I ordered the standard size 32. I have a 32 inseam but did not want the pants to drag to ground when walking. However the cuff sits about 1/2" to high when wearing 8" boots. October 27, 2014

Grant M: Reputation and so many good reviews Feb 3, 2015
Christopher E: I have gotten tired of using touring gear that tries to do it all - armor, waterproofing, warmth, ventilation - and ends up costing a fortune, being heavy and constricting, and not doing any of its functions especially well. The Traverse pants have no insulation and no armor, they are lined with Pro grade Goretex, and the attention to detail in their fit and finish is extraordinary. Taken as a whole, they struck me as the best value out there for wet weather riding gear. Nov 26, 2014
Kenneth L: The lowest price gore tex riding pant that has effective air flow. Oct 2, 2014
proctor m: waterproof, good quality Sep 28, 2014

Ahmad Zaed B: The Gore-Tex material and it's ready to upgrade for internal armour. Apr 20, 2014
B H: I have KLIM snow gear and I also own the Overland jacket. I like the price point of these pants, hopefully they won't look too bad with my Overland jacket. These should be a good for both my XR 650 R riding and my ST 1300 trips. Apr 5, 2014
donald m: Wanted a rain proof paint as I'm tired of getting soaked. Seems GoreTex is still the best as every other outfit I own leaks including a full Belstaff jacket and pants that cost over $1200.00 !! Mar 26, 2014
john f: Offered in tall size. Feb 24, 2014
Jacob J: is the best for all wheater Dec 2, 2013
Ivan R: My previous pants were Klim Badlands Pro but they were cut due to an accident. I chose Traverse cause I already have the protection pieces and I like the style of these onces. Apart from that these pants equipped with a belt which is very useful for me. Sep 29, 2013
Russell S: Same as above, pity they are so large in size though Sep 23, 2013
John M: I have a 2009 Klim Latitude jacket that I love. Looking for 4season pant to match. The current Dakar model pant has been very disappointing in comfort and fit...hoping the Traverse will be better. Like the Klim quality of workmanship and R/D attention. Sep 21, 2013
dominic g asked: I'm look to get a pair of these in 38". I don't see the in the sizing chart where it says the differences between size 38" and 38" "Tall".

So my question, anyone get the "Tall" version? I'm 6' with a 32" inseam.. not sure what to order since I can't find them locally.

Rodney H: I would suggest the tall. When you sit they ride up about an inch they don't stretch at all. Also go the next size up from your pant size if your going to wear your jeans under them. They are tight and the band does since down. Feb 18, 2014

Bill C: I'm 6'2 with a 32" inseam, I first ordered the "regular" inseam, they were way too short... get the "tall". They fit perfect when sitting on my bike which is a BMW F800 GS Feb 18, 2014

A s: I have these pants in 38 (NOT tall). I am 6' with a 32" inseam and they fit great. I do not think you will need the tall 38.

BTW- Great pants.

Russell S: Dominic, I am also a 38 inch waist and a 32 inch inner.
DO NOT GET THE LONG, mine are heaps to long but liveable.
Also if you are a 38 waist consider a 34-36 inch sizeing.
I do not undo the zip or stud to put mine on or off and also ended up purchasing the KLIM braces to keep them up.
Great pants especially with the padding as an extra and nice in Aussie 40 degree heat.

Jeff B: The tall versions are longer and the knee armor pocket is lower to allow for a longer femur (thigh bone). Great pants. I have worn mine in temps ranging from single digits (with layers) to triple digits. Always dry even in monsoon style rain. I think these are the best value in goretex on the market today. Kevin J: I got these in a 36" Tall - I wear jeans with a 34" inseam. Standing, they are touching the ground a bit in the back, but sitting on the bike, they are perfect. I have other over-the-boot pants that come up over the ankle area of my boots when seated on the bike - not these!

Does it come with pockets for hip and knee armor?

James O: Yes, Ryan, the Klim Traverse pants do include pockets for knee and hip armor. In fact, I do believe the pants include the D30 armor standard. These are great pants...I crashed out in Death Valley this past February, went down at close to 100mph, and my Klim gear protected me beautifully. Nov 14, 2014

A shopper asked: Going 6 weeks on the TAT starting in late July. I'm considering these pants or the Dakars, my only concern is that these will get too hot on those tough days in the mud or sand where we're really struggling to get some miles. I know Gortex breathes well, but still probably not as well as just plain cordura. I have a set of slip on rain coveralls that work well in daily use but may not hold up to the trail. Thoughts or suggestions? Dec 14, 2013

Russell S: I bought the traverse suit, and am located in Queensland, Australia.
I have ridden with this suit in anything from 3 degrees celcius right up to 42 degrees celcius.
This suit is great in the wet and off road, I have fallen off on the gravel at speed twice now and the knees and arms only scuffed up, I also purchased the protector pads for both pants and jacket.
The only thing I dislike on these garments are the sizes are miles out and I mean MILES OUT.
Order at least two sizes smaller than you want and they should still fit with room to spare for jumpers underneath etc.

Anders B: I have worn these pants twice. I was in Wyoming twice this past Summer and rented a bike. My first trip was in May and the second in July/August. I rode in Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. In the morning it could be down into the 40s but in July/August it got up into the low 70s. I started out with Under Armour long underwear and was comfortable in the am but when it got into the 70s I got hot. I was unable to take off the Under Armour long underwear however. I also have the traverse jacket and ride in warmer weather here in Illinois and I am quite comfortable. I think with warmer weather, if you didn't have on any base layer, you could be comfortable into the 70s and low 80s. I also had some extras velcro put onto the leg closure so they would close more tightly around my boots. Overall I am very pleased with the pants. Dec 18, 2013

A s: I just rode the TAT in 2013 with these pants (and Jacket). I left in late June. It got to 114 in Oklahoma and I spent many days in 100 plus weather. These pants vent very well and they will protect you from some of the desert bushes/landscapes you will be sampling on your journey. If you are not moving, you will be hot- once in motion you will still be warm, but not uncomfortable. The pants held up great for my 5100 mile off road ride and I would recommend them. I don't know how water proof they are because when it rained I left the vents open. The cool rain felt great. Feb 18, 2014

Ian B: These have a long vertical zip, front and back, along your thigh. It allows the air to flow easily through them which is very nice. They've worked for me but then I'm not in a southern state. One I don't like about them is the bottom is fastened by Velcro. That always catches on my pegs and next thing I know the pants are flapping about, so I've taken to wearing them inside my boot which can get a bit warm. Not sure if the Dakar is the same. john d: The year I did the TAT, part of it anyway, it was super hot. I wore Moose Sahara pants the whole time. Moose Saharas are very ventilated. I took a backup cold weather pant and never once even thought about wearing them.

We rode OK, NM, and CO.

I own the Traverse pants as well. Not sure I would take them on the TAT. I would take the KLIM Mojaves.

A shopper asked: Some riding pants are more stand alone pants, and some work well to use for commuting over your street clothes. where do these fall? Are they easy to don/doff over your normal street clothes? Can you get your boots through the leg ok? Mar 1, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Klim Traverse pants are definitely a wider leg pant that can be taken off over a boot once the velcro closure has been fulloy opened. The overall premise of a "overpant" is that they usually incorporate a long side zipper that reachs to at least the knee if not further up the thigh, which makes it easier to take on and off than first layer pants. May 2, 2012
Reply to RevZilla Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Marcelo S.: Traverse Pants are good for enduro riding because are rugged and have enough space for protection under the pants (like knee braces). I wouldn't use them over street pants or jeans unless a rainy day.
If you are looking for overpants for commuting I think you have better and cheaper options like the Revit AXIS pants.

rockrider800: These are not easy to remove over boots. I wear a thin pant, or long johns when its cold out, but they fit good. Buy a bigger size if you plan to wear them with street clothes. Sep 2, 2012

A shopper asked: I am new to off-road riding. The Klim Traverse pant is not described as an overpant, yet one of the comments on the description says "DESIGNED TO BE WORN OVER POLYESTER BASE LAYER". What would that "polyester base layer" be, typically?

Nov 8, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Brad B: One of the great things about the Klim Traverse pant is that it will accept armor in pockets of the liner and be worn as normal road riding pants over clothing. Since they are Gore-Tex, they are currently my only rain riding pant. I use them for commuting, as well as winter off road riding or summers in Colorado for the cold mornings and rain in the afternoon.
It can also be worn with off road armor, ie. knee and shin guards. In the off road scenario, you would either be wearing a long sock like the one by Fox that goes up to your thigh and folds down over the knee guard or something like tights in the cooler weather. Think Under Armor. Klim makes a great short and tight with built in padding for thigh and hips, used with long socks makes a great base layer.
So they are big enough to wear over something like warm up pants or thin slacks, but you would have to size them up to wear over bulky winter weight liners if you were wearing proper armor for the type of riding you were doing. With no armor they would fit over anything.

Patrick S: if you ride in cold climates, you will want to wear a base layer ( google it ) because there is no insulation at all and the pants become cold. I had these pants for 2 years now and rode all over north america with them. I would not buy these again. They leak pretty badly and did so even when new. The water pools at the crotch area when sitting and seeps in. Very unconfortable. When in heavy rain, I had to ride standing in order to stay dry. It is clearly no substitute for a real rain suit. Brian W: Yes, usually wear just boxers or long base layer pants if cold. Great pants. WOuld buy these again. With the mesh bottoms tucked into high boots, not waterproof though, just FYI. Water seeps in through top of boot. Nov 11, 2013

A shopper asked: I've got the gray Badlands jacket and am actually thinking I might prefer these pants over the Badlands pants. I'm wondering how close of a color match the gray Traverse pants are to the gray Badlands jacket. I know the fabrics won't be the same but the colors seem pretty similar? Thanks if you can check!! Daniel L: Do t know about color BUT the teaverse pants are NOT articulated. I own a pair and love them. I use them for enduro stuff. They are but straight. Good for standing up but when u sit they hike up. The next line up klim latitude are articulated. More comfort for sitting if your doing the dual sport thing Sep 2, 2014

Sean M: You'll be very happy with the Badland jacket & Traverse pants. Color match (and fabric) is pretty much spot on. I have both pants (Badlands & Traverse) but use the Traverse more often because of the belt clip (I can keep a Leatherman tool on).

A shopper asked: I currently own a pair of the Dakar pants in a 36" tall, which fit perferctly (I don't need to cinch the waist in at all). I understand that the Traverse pants are a larger cut.
Should I stick with the 36" talls, or go with a 34" talls. I only plan to wear my Thor knee braces, and compression shorts underneath (which I already do with the Dakars, and fit fine)?
Also, does the black come in talls?

rockrider800: I have both the Klim Dakar and Traverse pants. I wear a 34" tall and both pair fit great. I find the Traverse sits lower on the hips and cut just a bit smaller than the Dakar, but not enough difference to go to another size. I wear either compression shorts or very thin pants under both Klim's and they fit really good with room to move around and ride all day. I have black in both pair of tall pants. Sep 2, 2012

RevZilla: This choice will depend on the fit offered by your Dakar pants. The fit of the Traverse will be very similar, but there is about 1 and a 1/2" inch difference between the regular and the tall size. If you are planning on using knee braces underneath, we would recommend you to get a tall version. The Klim Traverse Pants are available in Black and Light Grey for tall versions. Apr 10, 2012

A shopper asked: Can anyone share any comments regarding padding or protection for knees and hip? Nov 12, 2014

Daniel P: In my opinion the knee protection is very poor, and must be fixed to make these pants safe. The knee pads do not stay aligned with the knees, and the knee area does not have enough abrasion resistance. I removed the stock knee pads, and I wear Thor Sector Knee Guards strapped to my legs under the pants. On the other hand the hip protection is incredibly good. On October 16, 2014 I was slammed into the pavement on my left hip at 65 mph on a freeway off ramp. I slid at least 50 feet on rough concrete, and amazingly I did not even get a single bruise. This accident did tear four holes in the pants at and below the knees. The biggest hole was right at the knee, and the Thor Sector Knee Guards were warn almost through at the knee. Jan 3, 2015

Henry N: The pants accomodate knee and hip armor inserts or are roomy enough to wear body armor underneath for dirt biking. I love these pants and have two pair. Nov 26, 2014

Craig G asked: Do these pants fit similar to the Overland pants, which I tried on at my local dealer? I realize these have a belt and the Overland pants use the Velcro adjusters on each side.

Gary M: I don't believe the overland pants were available when I purchased my traverse pants. I can tell you that I wear the traverse with a merino wool base layer and they fit perfectly in the same size as my jeans 32 w 32L. Could fit a lighter hiking pant or shorts underneath but feel jeans would likely not be as comfortable. I really like the belt and generally don't like Velcro much. I like the traverse and feel it was a great value for what I paid. Never feel like I would rather have a higher end Klim model. Guaranteed dry Goretex great fit, not heavy, leather knees, all good. Hope this helps. Regards, Gary Jul 22, 2014

A shopper asked: Can you use the standard Klim suspenders with the Traverse? Sep 17, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
MsBehave: Not exactly. I ordered the suspenders before checking to see if there were any built-in loops. There are none on my Traverse pants, however I managed to make the suspenders work by using the inside back loop and the belt in the front. I am going to have loops added because I love the suspenders AND the pants.

These suspenders were definitely NOT made for a short-waisted body...I have them taken up ALLLL the way, and they're still not tight. I still like the way they work and even after the expense of having them and the pants altered for the loops, I consider them a good purchase.

RevZilla: Since the Traverse pants do not have Klim's Integrated Loop System, the standard suspenders will not work. You can, however, use the Klim Deluxe Suspenders that have high-tension clasps for use without the loop system. Sep 19, 2012
