Kaoko Throttle Lock

The Kaoko Cruise Control is perfect for anyone looking to reduce fatigue and strain on your hand and wrist during long distance highway riding.

Each Throttle Lock consists of a simple, ingenious and robustly designed friction nut that is integrated with a special Kaoko bar end weight. The Kaoko bar end weight is closely matched in appearance and weight to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) bar end weight.

The Friction Nut has a left-hand thread. It must be adjusted so that it makes light contact with the rubber throttle sleeve.

The Grub Screw is set to provide the necessary resistance on the friction nut. This may be adjusted periodically to take up wear.

To Engage: Twist the throttle and friction nut simultaneously with your right hand. This action tightens the nut and provides sufficient friction to set throttle to the desired position. The friction nut is designed that the rider may still open and close the throttle.

To Disengage: Roll off the throttle while gripping the friction nut. The throttle should open and snap closed freely.

Features:

  • Easy to operate, even with heavy winter gloves
  • High quality, compact and durable design
  • Super smooth action
  • Takes less than 5 minutes to install
  • Very little maintenance is required
  • Less wear and tear on throttle cables and grips
  • Better MPG

Makes a difference Easy to use however it should be called a throttle assist not a cruise control; makes a big difference on long highway trips to ease wrist fatigue. July 21, 2014
It Works! I tried different brand throttle lock and it failed no matter what how I adjusted it. The Kaoko works just great on my 2011 F650 GS. Very happy with it. July 21, 2014
Kaoko Throttle Lock Kawasaki Ninja 1000/Z1000 2010-2013 I bought the Koako throttle lock for a 1000 mile trip into Eastern Oregon. The install on my 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 ABS was easy. Take off the stock bar end and install the Kaoko. The unit works as advertised. It is truely a one handed engage, which I understand is not the case on other type friction locks. my only complaint was the engagement ring. On long trips I tend to lean on the bar end and over time it began to hurt my right hand. I'll probably grind some of the material off that ring to make it more comfortable. July 21, 2014
Great hand saver on long rides Great looking product. Does what it should while looking like it is part of the bike and not an add-on. A bit pricey but it is well made. Highly recommend it for the long distance rider who needs to give his right hand a much needed pause. July 8, 2014
Pricy, but well made. Well made, good looking piece that works as advertised. It does come at a price though. Overall it is no replacement for an active cruise control but it does allow one to stretch their right hand. July 8, 2014
This product works great I put this cruise control on my 08 stratoliner midnight it was very easy to install only took about five minutes. I have put around 600 miles on my bike since installing the kaoko throttle lock I have not had any problems with it would defiantly recommend it easy to use works great and it is adjustable. It is a hand saver July 8, 2014
LOVE IT! I oder the product prior to my 1,100 miles trip. Went up to 1,000 Island NY from Baltimore MD and I see it over 50% of the trip on 81North. The product was great and very helpful. Easy to use and great design. HIGHLY recomended. July 7, 2014
Simple Install, Factory Looks, Worth the Price of Admission I had been looking around for a throttle lock for my 07 R1, and this quality lock fit the bill. The install took all of 3 minutes, the LH thread twist to lock motion is natural and easily learned, and the fit/finish is up to par with Yamaha's OEM, quality finishes. The price is steep, but if you are looking for a quality lock for your bike, look no further. July 7, 2014

A shopper asked: Can it be used in conjunction with heated grips? Aug 12, 2013

Peter K: Actually, it depends. I've been working directly with Kaoko on a custom build for my particular situation. Their stock item did not work with my aftermarket throttle tube and aftermarket heated grips. In going custom, I was able to sort out every last detail with them: a special thrust washer to mate with the hard, inner part of the grip, (and not the rubber coating which will wear down) a matching bar end weight for the clutch side, and color/finish. The end result is highly functional, highly ergonomic, and stunningly beautiful. Aug 20, 2013

Denis P: w/ heated grips ?? not sure, I don't see why not.
Caution: The bolt Kaoko provided was the wrong diameter for the street triple.
I used the existing bolt & drilled out the Kaoko flange.
The Kaoko throttle lock works great with my stock grips.

Chris G: I use the throttle lock on a BMW R1150RT and R1200S. The throttle lock does not interfere with the heated grip function at all as it is simply a friction device that butts up against your existing grip. Aug 12, 2013

David R: It should work, but you will have to adjust it from time to time because of the expansion and contraction of the grips due to the heater. And make sure that you purchase the right model specific to your bike. May 13, 2014

brandon f: I don't think thus one will the one that might SKU # 902012. Another thing you can do is take the bar end off and look at it and you can see what it looks like May 14, 2014

Robert P: The one I purchased fit my KLR 650 Kawi. The handle grip has hand protector (Barkbuster) If the bike doesn't have hand protectors the part should fit.
Hope this helps?
