Joe Rocket Women's Atomic 4.0 Jacket 4.6 5 62 62
Love my purchase I just love my new riding jacket and this website too!! It was so easy to order and the price was excellent. I would definitely recommend this website to anyone looking for riding gear. November 23, 2015
Great spring/summer jacket I bought this jacket as my first motorcycle jacket. In the summer, it was great without the liner. As it got colder, I had to put the liner in but it still wouldn't be enough in cold winter temps. Even in 50 degree F weather, I had to layer up and wear a scarf to cover where the zipper runs in front and my neck. The included armor is a great feature and the jacket is extremely comfortable while riding. I am 5'8" 125 lbs, and the size Small fits perfectly. I just need a different jacket for winter/colder temps! October 21, 2015
Great jacket for the price, decent fit. This is a good jacket for the price, and I can see myself wearing it all-year round. I've put about 6k miles on my bike with it, and it's starting to fray, but I'm not very nice to my gear. I'm 5'2, 120lbs, 34C, and typically wear anywhere from an XS to a S in shirt size, so I opted for a Small in this jacket. I have a short torso and the jacket comes about to my belt line, I've never had an issue with showing skin on my back or anything, even when it's summer and I'm only in a tanktop and a tshirt beneath. The jacket already comes with some body armor, and the armor fits and contours well -- the nice thing is that you're able to access the areas and put improved armor types in, or replace them if necessary. This jacket in a small leaves me room for a ton of layers underneath. The jacket will definitely stretch out, so if you are comfortably between sizes go a size down and wear it around the house for a bit. The XS would have fit and had room to stretch out, but when I tried it on it crushed my boobs and it was uncomfortable in an "I can't put my arms down" ala Randy from The Christmas Story sort of way, but I have wide shoulders, so if you're smaller framed then the XS would probably be for you. Because I have wide shoulders, I feel like I'm wearing lacrosse shoulder pads, but they came in handy when I had a down and bumped over a rounded curb and slid through some grass. I run really really cold. If the outside temperature is 60 or below, I'm miserable on the bike, so I have to really layer up in the colder months. The only issues I've had with this jacket in the colder temps is that the area around my sternum and neck get so cold that it takes focus away from my riding, and if I wear a wool sweater beneath, the elbow pads can irritate my elbows (solved with an Under Armor heatgear long sleeve). Now I never forget to pack my neck warmer, and it you are considering this jacket as an all-season, definitely get a windproof or heated scarf because you'll need it. There are pockets, everywhere. The outside pockets are huge and easy to access, but need two hands to zip up quickly. The liner has an inside pocket on the side, secured by Velcro. The jacket, without the liner, has a very roomy pocket that is easy with left-handed access, easy to access if you're on the bike, and holds my Note 4, insurance/registration pack, a pack of gum, a few dollar bills, and my wallet that is credit card size and holds about ten cards. I wear headphones sometimes and even with my phone deep in the pocket, I have enough room left for my headphone cord to reach. Overall, solid jacket for the price. I got caught in the rain once and ever since, it seems like it traps dirt a lot. I have the grey/silver and it does show dirt really easily. It's great in summer, but you will definitely get sweaty and feel gross putting it back on, but if you can tolerate a 3/4 length work out sweat-proof shirt beneath it, you'll be fine, because the vents work well enough. Great for two-up fun, as well, although on sportier bikes where you have to lean on your rider more, it will be a bit more cumbersome because of the shoulder armor. October 12, 2015
Waterproof? Not! My husband bought this jacket for me last year for my birthday. I chose this one for several reasons: style, flexibility for different weather conditions, and the claim of it being waterproof without the liner. I didn't get to test the waterproof feature until our two week vacation this month. Even in the lightest of rain I found myself getting soaked! Waterproof zippers are only good if the fabric is also waterproof! I love the style and fit. Airflow is not the best. August 9, 2015
I love this jacket! So far, I love this jacket. I haven't used the quilted liner (since it's summer in Texas), but I can say even in 100 degree heat, you get good air flow through it to keep cool. I'm a big fan of the bright yellow color and the flowery detail. I like the adjustability of it, but it is still a little large on me and I followed the size chart exactly. I feel like when I put the liner in, though, it'll fit just right. I'd say just expect it to be a little looser without the liner. I wish it had a few more pockets, but I get by just fine. It only has 1 inside breast pocket and 2 normal pockets, all of which are zippered and sealed. I haven't yet gotten to test it in the rain and thankfully haven't had to test its protection capabilities, so I can't speak for those. Overall, this is a fantastic jacket and I would definitely recommend it! July 27, 2015
For Trim Figures I'll preface this with stating my impression of this jacket is that it is good quality and offers good protection, particularly for the price. I purchased the silver and it is a sharp color - reasonably visible but not too light that it would show every smudge of dirt. The thermal liner is very comfortable material and the "set it and forget it" cuffs are a nice feature. My only issue with the jacket (and it resulted in a return) is the body length and fit around the waist. I'm 5'4" and 124 lbs. I'm very fine boned and have consistently worn a 4-6 my entire life. However, I'm fifty and have a thicker waist than I did when I was twenty-five. No one would look at me and call me fat but this jacket would barely zip up (even without the liners)! And yes, I did adjust the corset straps on the back to their widest setting. I also found the jacket short and I'm not particularly long in the torso - just average. It did have longer than average sleeves which I think would be great in the riding position - no riding up the forearms. The bust and shoulders fit well, and the armor seemed in perfect position for me. In summary I'd say this would be a great jacket if you are small in frame, and young enough to still be very trim and tapered in the waist without much hip flare. July 26, 2015
My first riding jacket I've been looking for my first riding jacket and this one caught my eye. It was in my price range and had the armor padding I was looking for. I typically wear a women's large or extra large (I'm 185lbs, 5'6" with a 38" bust) so I opted with the extra large. I watched the video on the jacket and I thought it would be a bit to short in the torso area and I hate short jackets! This one is perfect. It stops right below the hips so you don't have to worry about it riding up or bunching up when you're riding and the back is a little longer so you don't get unnecessary air flow up the back of the jacket. It fits perfectly but there is also enough room that I can throw a hoodie under it if it's colder. The picture shows it as a dark grey but it's more like a light grey/sand color, which I prefer since I feel the dark grey would get way too hot in the summer. I was comfortable riding to work in the morning, which is typically in the mid 50°F, and cruising around after work in the mid to upper 80°F. I also love the media pocket located in the front of the jacket. My samsung galaxy s4 fits perfectly. A bigger phone may not fit as well. July 24, 2015

Liam Q: Hey can you guys change color to pink/black for me? thanks Sep 23, 2013
Victoria S: The High-Viz version had just enough yellow to be seen, but was not tacky. Also, as a smaller jacket, not a full winter wear, in the odd Japanese climate changes, felt right. I switch between a Suzuki K50 moped and a Suzuki GSX400R in Japan, and a Suzuki Boulevard S40 back in the states, so it felt versatile in all modes. Aug 30, 2013
A shopper asked: How do the shoulders fit on this jacket? I'm 6'0" 160 lbs and pretty thin, and I wear a 38B, so it looks like I should order Large. I don't want it to be baggy. But most jackets don't fit me very well across the shoulders unless I get an XL. Thanks! Jul 14, 2014

A S asked: A question for those who have purchased this jacket in silver/white. The photo depicts the jacket as being a medium grey while the jacket in the video seems to be a very light grey almost sand color. Which is truer to the actual product? Aug 8, 2014

Alyssa E: The video is closer to the true color. It is a light gray/silver color. I think it is very nice looking and have been very happy with mine. Aug 8, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi. I was wondering how good the protection of the textile is, in the event of an actual crash compared to the old school leather jackets. Will they protect against road rash as well? Thanks. Aug 17, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Timothy G: In my opinion, leather still has superior abrasion resistance to nylon or polyester ballistic materials, which is probably why racing leathers are in fact, leather. If you go down, there is lots of friction and that makes heat and then the polyester can actually melt where the "hot" spots are. But, there is body armor at these critical points, and that is a thick measure of safety against impact and abrasion. Most standard leather jackets don't have armor in them, so you body takes more impact from a fall.
Overall, I feel better with the Atomic jacket with armor at points like elbows and shoulders. Leather may wear better in a sliding situation but in either material, you're probably going to replace the jackets regardless, if they are damaged.
Hope this helps in your decision.

Don A: I purched the jacket for my wife. She likes the style and comfort. The jacket does become warm in the summer heat.
Regarding protection, I hope we never find out, but I also wear a textile jacket, so we both hope they work as advertised.

Andrew B: Textile will not be as good for abrasion resistance as leather, but it offers the conveniance of waterproofing and body armor for protection. A winning combination for everyday use. In my opinion. Aug 19, 2013

A shopper asked: Hi,

Does this jacket already comes with the Armor in shoulders and elbows or do I need to buy separately?

If doesn't fit me can I return and receive 100% of money in my credit card back?

A shopper asked: There are no photos of the back of this jacket and I am therefore curious about the shape and length on the back. Does the jacket have a "v" shape in the back to keep you covered when you are on a sportbike, or is it straight across like the men's version of this jacket which has belt loops? Jan 8, 2013

RevZilla: The Joe Rocket Women's Atomic 4.0 Jacket does come to a 'V' in the back, so it will provide coverage when in riding position. The image provided is of a medium jacket, though she would normally take a small in Joe Rocket. In the proper size the 'V' would be slightly higher. Jan 9, 2013

A shopper asked: Another sizing question - I'm another skinny chick who is unsure which size to buy! Unfortunately the joe rocket sizing chart for women doesn't include sleeve length or torso length or height :( Anyway, I'm 5'8", 115-120 lb, chest/waist are 32/26. I'm a little concerned that the XS or S are going to leave several inches of naked wrist or waist! Any guidance? Nov 27, 2014
