Replaced XL cheek pads with XXL (smaller) cheek pads.
Replaced XL cheek pads with XXL (smaller) cheek pads. Helmet still fits great, pressure on cheekbones reduced.

If you are buying the small sized cheekpads...
Because your "Medium" sized helmet is squeezing your cheeks so much that you can hardly talk over the intercom; don't bother. The "small" cheekpads are actually larger, thicker and slightly bigger than what came with my Icon Variant Ghost. Sadly I threw away the package, so these will sit on the side in the offshoot possibility that I lose one of the cheekpads while wearing the helmet ;)

Good product. Fast shipping.
I bought an XL helmet but the cheek pads were just way to tight on my cheeks. So i bought the XXXL cheek pads which are actually the smallest cheek pads and it fits perfectly now.

Easy swap for big heads...
Bought an XL Variant but the cheeks were super tight, as in hard-to-keep-your-mouth-closed tight. I picked up these XXXL cheekpads and it fits perfect.
Maybe I've just got a weird head...
Revzilla customer service answered all my questions quickly before ordering.

Carlo B: Bought a Large size Variant Helmet and after a few rides, realized the helmet was moving a lot more than what I was comfortable with. Hoping the thicker cheek pads will tighten the helmet up a bit more.Apr 18, 2014
karl r: I've read that the variant cheek pads help the variant fit more snugly a great deal but are limited in their ability to make a snug helmet fit more loosely. I'm between sizes on the variant. Generally I wear a 60cm helmet, but the variant sizes 59-60(L), and 61-62(XL). I would be looking for a 60-61 range. My hat size is 7 5/8 (61cm range), so I went with the largest pads for the XL, the XL 35cm pads, hoping these would make the XL helmet a perfect fit.Mar 20, 2014
Shawn K: Original cheek pads in my varient were a little tight. I wanted to loosen up the fit on my cheeks a little bit.Oct 1, 2013
A shopper asked:I looked at the Icon manufacturer website and the size for cheek pads do not match The sizes mentioned on Revzilla's web site. Who is correct! Wanted to get thinner pads for room in medium helmet?
Diego Sebastian G:Hi, i bought a medium variant and a spare cheek pads medium as well...keep it simple, if you want more room in the helmet, buy the large ones...think about it, the matrix (shell) for the SM, MD and LG helmets are the same, so they change the thickness of the cheek pads only. XS different matrix(shell) of the helmet. XL, 2XL and 3XL different matrix(shell) of the helmet.
I hope this help you, excuse my bad English! Greetings from Argentina DiegoOct 26, 2013
Hassan T:I had same situation. Get the LG 25mm pads. Although they r abt the same size as wat come in the medium. if u take ur existing cheekpads out and put some heavy text books or a printer on them overnight they will compress and fit fine. I did that and didn't even need the new pads that I biughtOct 27, 2013
gordon m:Daniel, you're in the same boat as me, I also bought a Large Variant and it's too tight a fit. I think we are both screwed since we need cheek pads that are smaller, say 15MM or 20MM ... and I don't see that Icon make them that small. We should really have bought the XL helmets. Oh well, maybe we can try to compress them with some heavy weight overnight as someone suggested, unless anyone has a better more permanent solutionNov 21, 2013
PAULO M:I am afraid compressing the pads will not work. I left mine for 3 days under really heavy weight and the foam returned to its original position (good stuff, hum?). We followed the size chart and now the three of us are in the same sinking boat. I believe we will have to cut the foam... or our ears off!Dec 8, 2013
PAULO M:Daniel and Gordon, we are three in the same sinking boat. I left my cheek pads for three days under heavy weight. Didn´t work, the foam returned to its original shape.... good stuff hum? Options are, 1) openning the pads and cutting the foams 2) cutting our ears offDec 9, 2013
Nicholas T:Icon Variant Cheek Pads Replacements – 2014 March 10. I have a Variant Construct in XL. I bought replacements "Hydra-Dry", Part Number 0134-1165 35mm=XL. Be aware that cheekpads fit all sizes but the liners do not. I cannot include a link to the PDF I used but I hope you can follow the course ;-) Go to the Icon Website / go to tab- Helmets / go to tab- Variant Construct (in my case) / be in tab- Overview / in left side below description, you will see Replacement Parts, click on that and you will get the PDF matrix. Very comprehensive. Notice that the mm's fit different sizes as the shell size changes. Good luck. Nick.Mar 10, 2014
A shopper asked:I have an Icon Variant "Large" helmet and having the same problem as many riders with the cheek pads being too tight; especially when removing the helmet. The helmet fits really well when it's on. I've read in your reviews and on blogs that the solution is to order larger cheek pads (such as XXXL for my L helmet).
My question: Will XXXL cheek pads fit my L helmet? Can you check to see if the plastic snaps are the same distance apart?
I have a Icon Variant Rubatone (Large) and I need some cheekpads to tighten my cheeks a little. Should I take Large ones or medium ones ? To make it tighter I would need a larger size of cheekpads or a smaller size ? Thanks !Mar 5, 2013
