Icon Overlord Long Gloves

Strong, light, and ready for duty - the Overlord glove is the finest glove Icon has ever offered. We started with a Kangaroo palm - thin for ultimate feedback form your controls yet more abrasion resistant than cowhide. Critical impact areas were treated to reinforcements of Pittard's Keratan - a flexible yet significantly enhanced abrasion resistant goatskin. The backhand is constructed from Icon's Battlehide goatskin - forming a tough yet lightweight barrier against asphalt incursion. A full compliment of injection molded armor plating provides additional defensive measures. The Overlord also features a floating knuckle design which allows for maximum articulation while reducing hand fatigue. The overall effect of these materials choices and pattern engineering is instant comfort, protection, and mobility. If you're in the market for a full gauntlet glove slip on an Overlord and judge for yourself.

  • Abrasion resistant premium grade Battlehide goatskin backhand
  • Kangaroo palm
  • Pittards Keratan abrasion zones
  • Injected thermoplastic knuckle and wrist protection
  • Injection molded wrist plate
  • Precurved fingers
  • Aramid stitching

Love these gloves. These gloves are great. Good looks and very good protection. Nice airflow. No lining to speak of, so definitely three season gloves. December 9, 2014
Great Gauntlet Breathes good, great protection with the kangaroo leather and Kevlar stitching. Fits well over top my A* jacket sleeves. The only thing I wish it had was stitching to hold my pinky finger in the event of a crash. Have not crash tested. December 8, 2014
Not up to standard I am a live with it consumer and am reluctant to return anything. This is especially true in this case since I threw down some extra coin on these gloves just to hit the minimum order amount for an international order. Waste of money. The stitch work is poor at best. Mine came with what looks like grime smudges on them from the last person who returned them. Not saying the folks at revzilla did send me a grimy pair of gloves someone else returned knowingly, but I wish someone had taken a good look at them first. The product simply is nowhere close the price-point. October 21, 2014
Feel like a thicker pair of hands I just got my Icon Overlord gauntlets a week ago, and I'm impressed... I just ruined my previous gauntlets (keprotect, lasted 2 years, stained black dye like heck every time, but have me protection on the knuckles and grip) and took the chance to upgrade to higher grade materials. The Icon materials look sturdy, kangaroo palm feels soft to the touch but at the same time thick, the fit is quite nice. I saw a comment on the finger tips stitching feeling, and although you can notice it, it does not come in the way once you place your fingers on the grip. I'm not ranking 5 stars, as I just started wearing them... I want to see how they hold up compared to my last ($40) gauntlets. The velcro belts are located properly, and they are easy to handle. Also, the feel of the fingers while moving is pretty good. And the protection, seems great, knuckle protection is well located, and each finger has it's protection as well. On the palm you feel the thicker materials. Which I hope I don't put to the test, but sure feels nice to have added protection. Will update after a few months use, and a couple of rainy days to see if they stain or not so much. August 22, 2014
UPDATE At first I gave these gloves very high marks. I still would in every area except palm protection. I've had the gloves about a year and I went down at roughly 45-50 MPH. The L glove wore STRAIGHT THROUGH the kangaroo leather on the L side of the palm by the blade of my hand. The other components held up very well including the ulnar and knuckle sliders and the cowhide. BUT the kangaroo leather was worthless. It was like it wasn't even there. For protection factor alone, ESPECIALLY FOR A RACE GAUNTLET I have to encourage you to look elsewhere for protection. Can you imagine a 100 MPH crash on a track with this? No way man. July 11, 2014
all around great glove great air flow, durable and comfortable. not bad on style and protection. April 29, 2014
Great Glove from Icon This is the glove I would measure others of the same category by. I have worn these gloves for 2 seasons and they still look new. I am a tourer, so I am not running a track. I have thankfully not been down to test their safety. The fit is excellent. You retain your dexterity and can do a lot of things while wearing them. They look great and are very comfortable in hot weather. March 19, 2014
Fits like a glove It's very comfortable and seems to have track level protection. Vents nice and doesn't restrict hand movement at all. So far the best gloves I've had. February 25, 2014

S U: I purchased a Medium on these gloves and at first they were tight to perfect but now I feel they are a bit loose.
I also thought the knuckle part was carbon fiber until I got them and noticed it was a mesh material underneath that makes it sort of look like cf, my fault for not checking closely. Overall they area comfortable, a bit of a process to get on and off.

Andrew L: On sale and they are they fit great. Oct 1, 2014
T R: They looked like good protection & durable. Stitching kept coming out though... Sep 30, 2014
Chris H: after my crash and the way that my icon products held up and saved my skin I am a faithful icon gear buyer Aug 17, 2014
Divesh K: Needed a gauntlet glove to offer more protection than short glove for faster rides. This looked less bulky, cheaper and quality construction compared to competition. May 24, 2014
Ryan D: My hands are my money. I wanted something that I felt if I went down, all my digits would still be there. Given I'm a new rider, I wanted the utmost control over the throttle and controls to learn. These offered great protection and kangaroo leather (sorry hoppers) for better tactile feel. May 20, 2014
Carl G: Good protection with tons of air flow Mar 25, 2014
Cathy C: Quality and comfort! Mar 4, 2014
Marc N: Needed a gauntlet for racing. Feb 24, 2014

Michael T: I needed a good set of gloves and all reviews helped me make a decision. You get a lot of glove for the money. Nov 20, 2013
Johnnie B: Very good gloves for mid to warmer temps. Outstanding tactile response. Decent levels of protection. Have used during thousands of miles of riding and they are still in decent shape. Nov 4, 2013
Gary A: I purchased these because they are close in design to the Icon TiMax TRX gloves I previously owned. The TiMax gloves were awesome. I went through two pairs but unfortunately they are no longer available. Oct 5, 2013
Myles H: good fall protection. Aug 22, 2013
Jonathan B: Because based on the reviews it got, it offers great protection, has top of the line stitching and uses very strong materials. It also has great features like a separate plane for the hand and wrist, extra protection for the ulna, and can slip over a jacket. This will also match My Icon Overlord Leather Jacket As Well. Donald L: Though I haven't tested these out on a track personally, I have used them through two riding seasons here in Alberta Canada, and can write a review that I think would give some insight into how they would perform on the track.

1) they are solid and durable gloves. I have yet to have a seam loosen let alone separate.
2) the leather is strong but very responsive in that I can easily move my hands, to the different controls I need to and feel through the leather very well.
3) the Velcro wrist strap keeps them firmly in place on my hand and the full wrap portion of the glove at the back firmly wraps around the sleeve of my riding jacket. I've never had them shift around on my or let go of my sleeve while riding.
4) the design gives great breath ability. The leather is solid where it needs to be and perforated where it needs to be to keep my hands cool and dry when it's hot and warm when it's cool. Very nice when your riding in a variety of temperatures trying to extend the Canadian riding season;) all around I've been very impressed with these gloves. And would definitely purchase them again. *If these ever wear out that is ;)

kary h: I think these gloves would be fine for track day events. The pinkey finger isn't sewn to the ring finger but I don't know how much difference that makes. The feedback on controls is excellent. I've had mine for 1yr, 4mos. and I love them. I would definetly recommend these gloves. Oct 12, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi there Revzilla's
I'm interested in the Icon Overlord gauntlet gloves, and just need some assistance and guidance on sizing. I have 2 questions.
1. I have measured the circumference of my hand, and it is just on 9". What size do you recommend?
2. I have tried on some other brands of gauntlet, and have found difficulty getting my hand through the wrist opening. If I go up to a size where I can get through the wrist opening, I usually find the gloves are too big. I seem to have a disproportionally wide palm compared to my finger length! Is the wrist opening of the Icon overlord typical, or is it smaller/larger than average? Maybe I'm better off with the short version of the Overlord?

Cheers
John

Ahui: Acording to Q1: Your'e obviously Large for the Icon Sizing Chart (http://www.revzilla.com/icon-size-chart), but what I said on my Icon Justice Leather Gloves Review, my hand is 8.5" for MD size in the chart, but I've always bought Small with other brands, so I bought Small Icon gloves and they fit very well, not too loose and not too tight. As for the Wrist oppening, I think you need to consider the type of body you have. I'm a 63 Kg. and 1.68 guy. So I find icon gloves to be in the standard wrist oppening. Slightly large, because I need to pull all the velcro around in order tighten the glove. Hope this will help. Cheers! Dec 26, 2011

Paxx: Hey John,

I would not recommend the overlords based on the quality / durability of the gloves. But to answer your question, the hand opening on these is smaller then most.

As far as sizing, I like my gloves snug. I typically wear a medium in american cut gloves and found a medium in the icon to fit comfortably and just a little looser then normal.

ta3one: the entrance into the gloves is adjustable by a triple velcro strap, as well as an adjustment strap. I think you will be fine with the gauntlets. I used the Icon size chart where you put your hand against the paper and see what size you are - you can download and print it yourself. Oct 10, 2011

A shopper asked: Thanks for the reply TA3one.

Can you please give me the link you mention, where you can download and print a size chart? I have looked here, on Icon site as well as Google, and can't find anything like it.

Cheers
