Mesh overpant - the idea seems a bit odd at first - until you try them. The Fighter Mesh chassis provides excellent abrasion resistance while allowing complete freedom of movement and incredible ventilation. Integrated mechanical flex zones further increase the mobility and comfort of the pants. I was a bit nervous getting these online but customer support was good and I couldn't find them locally. They fit well and feel good, especially in hot Texas. I purchased to go over dress pants during my commute and they work well. My only complaint is that you only get one length for a given waist size. While mine fit well, they still could be an inch longer while riding. Wish there was more size variety like jeans. Recommend you email customer service to get your size down before ordering.

I've been looking for a hight contrast summer pants and these fit the bill perfect. I ride 20,000 plus miles a year and most of that is my commute to work at night, so these in white are very visible. I wear a 38 waist and 30 inseam. I ordered a 38 waist, a tade bit long by about a inch . Not a deal breaker. When on bike the knee pads are in the right posioin too. Highly recommend them.

These pants are awesome. I was not sure if I should go a size up because I fluctuate between a 32-34. Also I am just over 6'1" and 180 lbs. I got the 32 size and am glad I did. There is plenty of room to adjust the waist, the only problem I have is that they are a bit too long, causing them to go under the heel of my shoes when I walk around (I have about a 32" inseam). The airflow is great and if it is a bit colder (I'm in Idaho) a base layer would work fine if you can stand a slight cold breeze. Style is great, they're a bit loose, but that's what I wanted and wouldn't change anything except for the length. Overall, a great pant and I would definitely recommend these to anyone!

The sizes are right on. You will notice they are a little long when standing but perfect on the bike (I ride a Suzuki C50), and it would have been nice to have a Velcro strap to tighten up the pants around the boot instead of the zipper/button combo, but I'm stretching to make a complaint. Effortless to get on or off. The armor sits right where it needs to be. I have used it for commuting so far, but could see my self taking this on an all day poker ride or run through the hills. Way better than jeans.

The pants are an excellent fit. Not too tight and just right with the adjustments. Knee/shin guards seem to slightly move around maybe a millimeter here and there but that's not a big deal. As long as I am protected as well as comfortable in the desert heat while I ride.

I'm 160lbs 32x32 jeans. I ordered size 32 and they fit nicely over normal pants. I can get into them with shoes on which is also nice. They appear a little baggy but I don't mind. The knee armour seems to stay in the right place while riding even though it sits lower while standing. No complaints here for the price.

Flow air like crazy! But the look is not so great. Very wide at the bottom and no way to keep them from dragging . I had to use rubber bands to keep them from draging. Very thin and baggy I use them with knee and shin armour b/c the armour they have looks like it will just slide around. The knee and shin armour fit well though.

I am 6'1", 220lbs, wear 36 x 34 Levis. I ordered the size 36, and they fit like they were made to measure. I saw in the video all the slack at the ankles. Not mine, they are perfect (bit long, so when I am on the bike they fit. The material is supersoft, and worn over regular work trousers move & bend without a problem.
The only issue I have is the armor in the knees is a. pathetic, b. falls a bit low on my leg, and doesn't seem adjustable.
The airflow is great, close to wearing shorts.
Bought these to wear to the railroad station to scrunch into my backpack: perfect fold to nothing, and are lightweight

It is definitely a trade-off. The Mesh will be a good deal cooler, but the Textile offer better abrasion resistance.

Answer: 
I own the mesh pants so I cannot comment directly on how hot the textiles are, however I do own other textile riding pants and you will find that nylon just doesn't breathe or let any air in. I understand the textile pants have some lighter panels for venting, but you will probably sweat a bit in them during really hot weather as textile panels won't flow much, if air through them.

Also depends on where you will wear them - just on the bike or if you plan to be walking around in them a fair bit. From experience, standing and walking around in textile pants on a hot day is terrible. On a bike though, enough air should get through the panels to make it bearable.

Regarding the protection - inevitably, you do sacrifice some protection when choosing mesh over textile, however it really depends on their intended use. If you are just using them for commuting around and wont be hitting anything over 60 most of the time, they should hold up quite well. I trust that ICON doesn't produce rubbish so I feel fine getting around in the mesh pants with shorts underneath at lower speeds.
