Excellent product The helmet is great and fits perfectly. Real pleased with HJC and the service from Rvzilla. June 30, 2015
What you expect Good Decent helmet love the springy visor for bright days. overall great fit love the helmet. works well with glasses too! June 29, 2015
Very nice helmet This is a good helmet for me. I like the modular design a lot. The visor is wide and clear. Also helmet looks very good and has held up well in the ~6 months I have used it. Only a few minor issues: Pinnock should be included with this helmet... ALWAYS. The fit is small and does not follow their size chart. Based on the size chart I was a medium. After sending the helmet back for a few exchanges I ended up with a 4X helmet. Even if the first measurement was human error the next 2 were not. Would be nice to have this helmet with Bluetooth already built in. June 29, 2015
Decent helmet for the price Pros: I love the pin lock quick no-fog inserts for the visor. Having that ability is a major part of why I bought this helmet. I ride fairly long distances (couple hours) each day for work and the helmet is light enough not to become a strain on my neck or feel too heavy. It's not too light though where it feels cheap. Good construction, quieter than my last H@rley modular helmet in the similar price range. Cons: Smoked sun visor needs to be tinted darker. When I'm riding east in the morning the sun visor barely takes the edge off. Before I got my tinted no-fog inserts I had to wear sunglasses in addition to my sun visor. I've thought about taking the sun visor out and tinting it darker but haven't needed to now that I just leave the tinted no-fog insert in 24/7. Makes night time riding a little dark but not bad. June 29, 2015
Love it! Got it because I wear prescription glasses. The flip down shades work like a charm. I just wish the inside fabric was black. Gray gets dirty looking. But at least I can wash it. June 22, 2015
Perfect fit I cannot remember the last time I got such a good fitting helmet..It's got everything I want. June 22, 2015
The only option for a huge head So I've been riding in this thing for just over three months now and I'm happy with my purchase. I have a huge jug head and I tried to go by hat size and it didn't work. I wear a 7 7/8 - 8 in a fitted cap and am comfortable in a 5x helmet. HJC is just about the only game in town if you need a lid that big. There are others but don't waste your time. For the price this thing is loaded with features. I went with matte black and the finish is holding up excellent so far. I like the drop down sun visor and really appreciate the modular flip up face panel. Too handy to even go into detail about. Needless to say I won't be going back. The visor does fog but I find I like riding with it cracked unless it's raining hard. Perhaps I'll invest in a Pinlock when it gets cold again. It ventilates adequately. Probably just average though. I wear a helmet liner with mine just to keep perspiration off of the pads. You can get away with less dissection of the guts by using one so I do. It seems fairly quiet. I have a fairly loud 48 with Rush 2.0s and it knocks it down several decibels. I can still here her purring, just mutes it slightly. No wind noise unless the shield is cracked. Overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. My one caveat is with the drop down sun visor. Sometimes it catches before it goes completely back into the helmet. Just an eighth of an inch but I have to use my hand to pull back on the mechanism to get it fully disengaged. Not the end of the world, just a little quirk I've grown to live with when it happens. Thanks HJC for making a proper helmet for a jughead! Oh and it works perfectly if you wear prescription eyeglasses. Plenty of room. June 19, 2015
It fit, It fit The one thing I cannot make smaller is my head. I have a round head with a 24 3/4 circumference an inch above my eyes, Plus allot more around the cheeks. I received the 3xl size. I put the senna Bluetooth with boom mic in. It just fit, right on the money. Plus this helmet has holes already for the sena speakers. The drop down visor works great as well. The shipping was great and packaged well. I will be getting all my needs from here in the future. Thank you for the ease of buying and shipping. June 18, 2015

Douglas D: I already own an older IS-Max modular helmet and have been happy with it. It is time to retire it and after seeing the upgrades they have done to the newer model, I was convinced I would like to stay with this model line of helmet. It fits my head well, plays well with my Sena comm system and is a good value for around $200.00. Once you use a modular, you'll never go back! Love the internal sun visor too. Apr 20, 2015

I watched them, a lot of them and found them to be amazingly helpful. I was almost swayed but your "bank for the buck" reviews put me over the edge for HJC.

Thank you! Great site.

Byron D: Best overall value. I own other HJC brand helmets.
Has the features I want.

Ed F: Cost, features, past experience with HJC. Wouldn't mind having a Shoei or Nolan, but can't find the difference in value. Have a Nolan full-face, have had two HJCs; happy with both brands, but unable to differentiate in comfort, noise control, ventilation, etc. Really like the Nolan quick release, but I can add one of those for $10. Not $150 - $200 difference. Feb 9, 2015
Wilson C: The great video and detailed information provided on the pros and cons of the helmet. The great price didn't hurt either. When I need a product relating to riding, I will consider Revzilla first. Feb 9, 2015

Richard C: I had tried one on and liked the style and comfort this helmet affords. After discussion with a RevZilla CSR to get a few comparison questions answered, I decided to make the purchase. I believe it's an excellent helmet for the price. I do a lot of tour riding and I purchased two of them, one for me and one for my passenger. I am having an integrated communication system installed in both helmets to facilitate our communication as well as enjoy music while riding. Oct 23, 2014
lloyd e asked: This is the first helmet I bought. I try others on in the Harley Store to determine I need a medium. After getting this one in the mail it was surprisingly tight on my check bones and squeezed my check flesh together. I picked this one because i have what i believe to be a round head. But now I'm not sure.
Do I need to get a more round helmet or do I need to go up in size?

G R: I bought this helmet for my girl friend after buying her a Shark Evo-line ( that didn't fit no matter that size). She had HJC before so keeping her in helmet that I knew fit was my best choice. A proper fitting helmet in my experience will be a little tight in the beginning on the cheeks. The helmet expands overtime to conform to your head better As long as your not getting pressure point on the fore head and your cheeks are not getting squeezed so that you have fish lips. It should be a great fitting helmet. Mar 20, 2015

I've had the IS Max 2 helmet for a few months. It was tight at first til the pads relaxed around my head. It works for my head shape. I love the helmet. But, check the helmet chart to make sure that it works for "YOUR" head shape. Hope this helps you. Be well...

Mike R: I also have what I belive to be a relatively round head. No helmet manufacturer's helmets fit me better than HJC by far.

My last helmet was a CL-16, and a large fit me well, but I found I needed to go up a size to an extra large when I upgraded to the IS-Max 2.

Millard H: I'm a XL and the XL helmet was overall too tight. After getting the 2X the cheek pads were the tight spot. I kind of got used to it. I would NOT get this helmet if you have loud pipes. The helmet magnified the noise level. Even with earpplugs I found it unbearable. Mar 20, 2015

A shopper asked: I was interested in possibly purchasing the HJC IS Max 2 Modular Helmet and noticed that the mechanism to lower the internal visor is located on the top of the helmet. I was wondering if I should be concerned with it eventually leaking after long term use or is there some type of seal that totally prevents this? Mar 5, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Charles P: I have been using this helmet a couple of months now, and I'm a daily rider. Though I have been in the rain with it a few times, I have not had any leaks. However, I also use the internal sun visor very little as I prefer to wear sun glasses on bright days. As for whether or not frequent use of the visor would eventually produce a leak, I can't say I know. But, I would imagine that on rainy rides, you wouldn't be using the sun visor, so perhaps in its raised position, the control would "seal" and prevent leakage. As a whole, the helmet is much lighter that the previous modular helmet I had (Scorpion), which makes it much more comfortable, and still feels solid. The ventilation is great, and I added a chin curtain, which does a great job keeping the wind out on those colder days. Mar 6, 2015

Kendall C: I haven't used my HJC in the rain yet. Wish I could help, but I live in Southern California and we're in the middle of a 3 year drought. I CAN tell you that I needed to order the thinnest cheek pads available (17mm) and I don't have an unusually large face. Other than that it seems to be comfortable with good ventilation. Apr 17, 2015

John M: I owned the previous HJC SY-MAX II for four years and never had water coming in from the top. I rode under very heavy rain in Texas.

I own its new model, the IS-Max 2 for a few months. However, with the new one I only rode under light rain. So far I did not notice water coming in.

I hope this helps.

Keith B: Good question. The seal is so well embedded in the slide I don't think there would be a problem unless the slide broke. This helmet is probably the most comfortable and functional helmet I have worn. You can't beat it for that price. Sizing is accurate. Mar 6, 2015

Arnold K: Not to worry. I rode many miles in a HJC IS Max (the original) in all kinds of weather without a leak. The inner shield opened the same way. I don't anticipate any leaks with my new IS Max 2. Mar 6, 2015

A shopper asked: I have a CL-16 and always ride with a dark smoke Pinlock. I carry a clear shield and Pinlock in my gear bag, but I'm curious about using the internal visor with glasses. Does anyone have experience with glasses behind the internal visor? Apr 20, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Albert C: I use the internal visor and it seems a little tight but starting to loosen up. I have an older version of this helmet and when I used the sunglasses because the visor broke because a friend did not take care of it, the sunglasses actually gave me a headache because they were pressed hard against the head. However, now that I have this one the shades part is awesome. They are perfect for the sun and I lived in NC when I used it on sunny days and here in MASSACHUSETTS. The fact that you were glasses though I don't think the internal visor is close enough to the glasses to properly bother them so get a size bigger so it wont be pressed to hard against your temple. Apr 20, 2015
Reply to Albert Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Jeffrey P: I wear glasses under the HJC IS-Max and the internal shade visor works fine. In fact, I love it because even though I have glasses that darken in the sun, they don't work with the face shield is down. So, yeah, the internal visor is very cool. Apr 20, 2015

A shopper asked: I currently use an HJC FS-3. I'm thinking of replacing it with HJC IS-Max II. My current helmet is medium, should the fit on the IS-Max II I be the same? Also, how is the side viability on the IS-Max II?
Thanks

Byron Y: I had the HJC IS-BT Max, they fit very similarly as far as size. The IS Max II is a bit more snug in the cheek area, but feels better constructed. Which is good because my old one held up like a champ during a low side about 2 months ago. Protected my face from being eaten away by concrete. Mar 21, 2015

mark b: I had an HJC CL12 before buying this hlment and I find the fit to be exactly the same as my previous helmet. As far as side visibility I have not noticed anything to make me beieve it is diminished in this helment. I love the helmet by the way great features for the money Mar 22, 2015

Shawn R asked: What are the knobs sticking out of the visor for? They are on the left and right of the visor. May 24, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Charles P: Shawn, the knobs are the mounting posts for something called a pin lock. That's a piece of plastic that mounts on the inside of the visor like a second layer to prevent the visor from fogging up when completely closed. I commute daily by motorcycle year round. I used to have a different helmet without a pin lock and would commonly get visor fogging, especially on colder, damper winter days. Now, with the pin lock, I get no fogging at all. I highly recommend it! May 24, 2015
Reply to Charles Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Arnold K: They are called pin locks. If face shield fogging is a problem where you ride, you can purchase an inner anti-fog shield that snaps onto those pins. I installed them on both my wife's shield and mine, and they work great. Shield fogging problem solved. May 24, 2015

Richard C: I'm not familiar enough with the Scala rider system to determine if it will mount properly on the outside of the helmet. I took my helmet to J & M and had an internal system installed which works perfectly! There is plenty of room between the face shield and your mouth for the microphone. It is also a very comfortable helmet with or without the intercom system. Dec 31, 2014

John B asked: Really liked this helmet's design. My friend bought the HJC CL-Max 2 in a 4X size. I tried it on and it fit very well. I wanted the extra features of the this helmet and tried both the 4X and 5X, but it feels tight around the lower jaw line. Any suggestions? Jul 1, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kendall C: I've been thinking about this a lot lately. If I were going to buy another HJC IS-MAX 2, I would get a size larger. I really like the helmet except when I wear my beanie to keep the sweat out, the top of my forehead starts to hurt after a couple of hours and, yes, it is tight around the lower jaw line. In fact, I had to buy the smallest size cheek pads, 17mm, I believe. I do love the features, however.. Jul 1, 2015

Stanley W asked: I've got a Symax II in a medium. But, I put the small cheek pads in. Should I stick with a medium helmet? And, will the medium cheek pads be snug enough? Apr 20, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Robert H: no one can answer that question since helmet fit is purely individual and personal. I would say contact HJC but they may not be able to help you either. You really need to try on helmets. They need to be snug or they won't do their job well when the time comes. That being said they shouldn't create pressure points after an hour or so. Adjusting the size of the pads can help but sometimes the helmet is just the wrong shape for your head. HJC helmets tend to be more "round" vs. oval. If your head is more oval ( as viewed from above) you may not be able to get a good fit with the HJC in spite of cheek pad adjustments. The bottom line is you have to try it on. Apr 20, 2015

Richard C: Stanley,
I ordered a size large and I didn't insert any cheek pads in my helmet. I wear it just as it came from the factory and it fits great and is very comfortable. Great helmet!

A shopper asked: I was just wondering if this helmet fits pretty true to size? I measured and my head is 22.5in. Which would make me a medium. I just want to make sure that I should actually order a medium and not a large just to be safe. Oct 28, 2014

Richard C: I ordered a large after trying one on at a local retailer that had one in stock but not the color I wanted. It fit perfectly! I was so pleased with the chat I had with the RevZilla rep who answered all my other questions I had concerning the helmet that I bought one for my girlfriend as well. Hers fit perfectly also. I am currently having intercom systems installed in them. Nov 11, 2014

timothy r: I was right at the high end of the xxl. In the warm months my hair is very short. Right now its 27ish in the morning when I leave for work. My hair is longer and I wear a neck wind break that goes under my helmet which makes it right. If you are only going to ride when warm just measure and go for it. If you are planning cold weather extra head gear go a size larger. ... In my opinion anyways Nov 11, 2014
