This is my second pair of Steve gloves. I bought the first generation at least five years ago and I still have them and they are still in great shape. I just wanted to own a pair of the second generation Steve gloves.
The newer gloves feel more supple and I love the new grey color of the palm surface. The rubber strip does not intrude while wearing the gloves, but does a great job of wiping the water off the shield when it's raining or foggy.
Did you know that you can clean these gloves in soapy water and then just air dry? The gloves are just as supple after drying and applying some leather cream. I will always wear my Steve 2 gloves when touring. You can't go wrong with any Held glove so buy with confidence.

A german friend recommended these. They did not disappoint. Very good fit and comfortable. Read Held's sizing info and follow it. They fit snug when new and my initial reaction was to get the next larger size. That would have been a mistake. They now fit perfectly. The kangaroo skin palm is very soft, comfortable, and tough. The only reason I did not give them a 5 rating was the price.

My seven year old original Held Steve gloves were wearing through in the fingertips and on the palm so I replaced them with Steve 2s. Just like the originals, they fit perfectly from the start, no need for a breaking-in period. Two things I had to get used to: 1. blue-ish leather on the palms instead of the tan leather palms of the original. But as you can see the tan became black after miles of road wear and I'm sure the blue will as well. 2. the wrist strap now tightens on the palm side instead of the backside of the glove. This actually makes more sense as it seems to create a tighter seal around your wrist. It took me a few days though to stop reaching for the strap on the backside. If I had one wish it would be to have a Gore Tex or H2O-proof version but without additional bulk. I know, can't have everything. All in all, thumbs up (and other four leather encased fingers as well) for the Steve Held 2s.

I've worn Held gloves for about 15 years, and these are best yet (my fifth pair). The fit is incredible, snug but not tight. If you haven't had a pair before, you will be surprised at how good they feel, with seams sewn on the outside, no chafing spots whatsoever, and thin tough 'roo leather palms that give great tactile sense of the bike.
The left glove has a wiper blade in the forefinger seam, a wonderful touch. The gauntlet is the perfect size for me, providing a good seal to my jacket without being too big or heavy or bulky at all. The wrist strap is on the inside of your wrist, so it's very convenient to set and release. Reinforcement at the heel of the palm is hardly noticeable, but I can verify that it works really well, after a low-speed accident a few years ago.
The new blue-grey color for the palms looks great with my riding gear. These are the best gloves I have ever had, and worth every penny they cost.

Best feeling pair of touring gloves I've worn. Good in a wide variety of temperatures, but not great in very warm to hot weather. Bearable, but not great.
I agree with an earlier post that the velcro is annoyingly likely to catch the lining of your helmet if not properly closed first.
I am tall and thin, so I always have trouble finding a glove that fits decently with fingers that are long enough. I originally went with the size chart recommendation of 9.5; the fingers were long enough but there was too much loose material in the lower palm for me. I returned them for the 9 Longs and they fit great.

I just recently got the Held Airstreams which are fantastic, so to go into a little more of a spring/fall glove I thought the Steve 2 was a logical choice. I am thrilled with these gloves as I expected. Very comfortable. Great workmanship. Well worth spending the extra dollars on. A little tricky to release the velcro is the only minor complaint I have. It will no doubt loosen up a little over time. Great feeling of the grips and as with the Airstreams, enough finger control to open your wallet and remove money or a credit card without removing the gloves. Very nice glove all the way around.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Answer:
I think the answer is yes. I also had original Steve's, in 9.5, and found them a little bit big. My Steve 2's are size 9, and fit PERFECTLY, just snug enough that they stretched a tiny bit and have become an extension of my hand. So the sizing seems exactly the same to me.

Product Q&A

1 Question|5 Answers
1 of 1

HeldWhile most gloves sold in the US are offered in alpha sizes (Small, Medium, Large, etc), Held gloves are sold in numeric glove sizes. The most accurate way to choose a glove size is to measure your hands using the directions and charts below. To get an idea of what Held Glove sizes correspond to in typical american gloves, a conversion guide is included below just to get you started in the right direction.

Held Size Estimated Men's Size
6 – 6 1/2 XS
7 – 7 1/2 SM
8 – 8 1/2 MD
9 – 9 1/2 LG
10 XL
11 2XL
12 3XL

Steps to Measure For Held Gloves

  1. Use a flexible measuring tape to measure your hand in inches.
  2. Measure around your hand, behind the knuckles, not including the thumb.
  3. Take an accurate, snug measurement.
  4. Measure both hands and use the largest measurement.
  5. Compare your measurement to the size charts below

Held Sizing Guide

Held Glove Fitment Tips

Held gloves should fit snugly when new. They will stretch out during break in and form to fit your hand.

If you have long fingers, but a relatively narrow palm you should order a size up as the size chart does not account for finger length.

Please note, if your hand measures toward the upper limit of the size measurements, the gloves will fit very snugly. If you prefer that your gloves do not fit so snugly, you may want to select the next size larger. Held kangaroo gloves are a very precise fit. Because Held gloves are such a fitted glove, many people enjoy the snug fit. This is actually very comfortable, with few wrinkles and little crumpling in the palm area.

A properly fitted Held will "fit you like a glove".

For gloves avaliable in half sizes:

Glove Size Hand Measurement

9.5 9" – 9.5"
10 9.5" – 10"
