First time wearer of heated jacket products
I received this today and spent most of the afternoon finishing the wiring for the Gerbing dual heat permanent controller I had purchased earlier in the year.

Conditions tonight were perfect for a test run, elevation 1k feet and above, ambient temps of 44 degrees with high humidity. Traveling along treacherous mountain roads at (50-70mph) night was perhaps not the best idea but I was determined to make it as difficult as possible to keep me warm. I wore a vented leather jacket and for safety reasons I wore an all cotton thick flannel layer beneath the Gerbing liner.
I put the dial at 50 percent and took off on a 1 hour ride.

Having a warm back is a really nice feeling, the back is an area that is stressed a lot during tough rides. It kept my chest and back very warm, it did not do as good a job of distributing heat around the arms. The under arm area of the forearms were exposed as much as the tops of the fore arms were but didn't receive much love from the heated jacket. Despite the perceived issue with the heating in the arms they were kept reasonably warm most of the time.
It does heat the neck too, and while that can be really nice, I noticed the neck gets pretty hot and that was one of the reasons I wore a layer underneath the jacket liner to prevent discomfort or any theoretical situations that may result in burns.
Layering is always smart to do anyways.
Fit:
I ordered an XL, arms were correct length but neck area was a little too large, was baggy enough overall to allow layers underneath the liner.

Pros:
As far as heat goes this jacket takes no prisoners!

Cons:
Hot spot around the collar, arms needed a bit more even heating, durability of the jacket liner is questionable, the jacket fits loose around the neck and could use a gusset for cinching it tighter, price is pretty high for the quality of the jacket material.

Nice liner with some design issues
This heated liner is exactly what the Zilla review describes. A straight forward heated liner. No insulation, no pockets, no frills, just a nylon shell with the heating elements built in. I bought this knowing that so it didn't come as a surprise. If you want a heated liner with some insulation value, albeit low, look at the Synergy 2.0 by Tour Master.

As for this liner, it heats up very nicely and evenly.

My only real issues with it are that it would have been nice if they had wrapped the heated sections in the arms all the way around. Instead it only heats the outside of your arm in the riding position, leaving the underside of your arm completely cold. Same with the chest/back sections, chest and back heat up nice, but there is no heat down the side of your ribs.
This is not a malfunction in my jacket either. There simply are not any heating elements in those areas. Would be a much nicer jacket for what you are paying if it actually heated all the way around.

Fit Comment
Too damn hot here in AZ to do anything other than a basic function test at this time. The fit video is correct. I am a 42 long and the Medium was a perfect fit. I wear a 34/35 sleeve dress shirt, 35 French cuff so I ordered the Medium Long and it is almost too long.

Medium regular is at least a 35 sleeve, the long is closer to 37, but I am keeping it as the extra length is just nylon at the cuff. With layers underneath, the jacket pulling the sleeves up a little, and the stretch to the bars, the sleeves are still long but work. Though, if I had ordered the Medium with regular sleeves, I probably would have not exchanged.

Bottom line is you can safely go down a size on the sleeve length as well as the overall size.

I wear it every time it gets cold
Really good heated jacket, runs a little large so go one size down. I took out the liners of most my jackets and use this as a substitute, worked out really good. First thing i was concerned about when I ordered this was the sleeves getting caught and running up the outer jacket in the process of putting it on. But it didn't, since the sleeves are really smooth and the cuffs have some elastication. Got to say, I am really happy with this purchase and I wear it even when its not that cold, just in case it does later.

You can't put a price on warmth when riding cold weather!
Okay so its a bit pricey...worth every penny when its the difference between comfort and the pain of being cold on a bike. I purchased this liner after my old Gerbings liner (circa 2008) finally stopped heating my right hand (yes I have the gloves too). Obviously I got my monies worth from the first liner so I had no hesitation for purchasing this liner. For those that may have the questions I did, your old gloves, pants use the same connectors so you can mix and match any older model accessories with this new jacket. I actually like the lightened fabric over the older model Gerbings jacket liner. Buy it!

Warms quickly
The liner works great in terms of heating quickly and helps to keep you concentrated on the road instead of the cold. I will say that as great as this liner works it does have some room for improvements that can be had. If Gerbing is listening please create this liner with zones; Arms, Back, Neck and chest. Also the liner needs to have the heating elements wrap around the arms instead of just on top. The sides of the rib area could use some heating elements. The low temp setting should be lower than 90 degrees so that the liner can be used on chilly days instead of ice cold days. Sometimes you just need a little heat to cut the chill.
If you’re contemplating this liner keep in mind that the chest and arms will be comfortable while the back and neck get very hot even on the low setting of 90 degrees. Although this liner has some issues it works as advertised. Hope this review helps you would be buyers.
Ride safe!

Good but pricey
It's well made and warms up quickly without having to go to the top setting.

Fits under my other layers without being bulky.

Its relatively spendy, but feels like it will last a long time.

Impressive
I am very impressed with jacket. It's surprisingly warm even when it is not plugged in. Connected, it's very toasty. The material is quite light and so I would expect it not to last too long unless treated gently. It is a very loose fit. I have a 40 inch chest and bought a medium. It's too large. Under my KLIM Badlands, and over a long sleeved T shirt this has been excellent down to -1°C at motorway speeds this week - set at its coolest setting.

I bought Gerbing permanent dual heat controller a while ago, it's time I started doing something about the impending winter chill!
As winter approaches, my bike is my only option for the near future of getting around from place to place, this item is essential for winter safety. Hypothermia and frost bite are a reality on long rides during the winter months.

What are the improvements over the old Gerbings heated Jacket Liner? (Currently on sale for $199.99) - ie is the new one worth an extra $50?
Justin H on Sep 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Short answer I don't think there's any radical changes in this over the old except perhaps an improvement in materials and a different look.
I've examined the 'old' Gerbing controllers versus the new Gyde and with the exception of the blue tooth controller, as closely as i can without detailed documents, they are indistinguishable.
Gyde/Gerbing won't answer my questions that I emailed them over a month ago..
On this model Gyde Jacket Liner in the pocket containing the attachment wires there are the three plugs that you would expect, the "white jacket wire", the "black gloves wire", and the "yellow pants wire", but there is also a male 6mm plug similar to an earbud plug. What the heck is that all about?
MarkRI on Dec 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: That is the thermistor. Like a thermostat, it regulates the temperature of the jacket to maintain the set temperature, regardless of the conditions. I don't think all the controllers have a jack for this. The Bluetooth Controler does.
I just received this jacket and it looks like, unlike Gerbing's other 12v jacket liner, this product does not provide a place to insert and use the 12v Flexpack battery. Please advise if this correct? If so I think this information should be clear in the description.
DANIEL K on Oct 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Gyde by Gerbing ditched the Flex Pack, due to the bulkiness of the battery and heavy weight. At the end of the day, it was a great idea, but not very practical. You will not see the Flex pack being part of the new Gyde line. - Rania -ZLA Gear Geek.
What is the wattage of this jacket liner? The Gyde site does not show it either. It's very important for me as I've a small bike / limited alternator output.
Also as this is made to be used with a portable battery or plugged to the bike, I suspect that the new Gyde by Gerbing heated apparel are putting less heat (using less amps) than before to alst longer on portable battery. i.e. it seems the company makes their stuff more for outdoor activities with portable batteries than motorsports. So if anyone knows at least what fuse they recommend to use for the jacket liner only, that will give an idea.
Thanks.
TerryFrench on Oct 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Best answer I can offer is the old one typically drew about 77 watts, with a maximum of perhaps 130 at full power. It's safe to assume there's no difference in it's usage profile.
