GMax GM54S Modular Helmet - Solid

The modular design allows the "flip-jaw" to rotate further back on the crown of the helmet. The further rotation of the flip-jaw not only increases the user's line-of-sight when in the raised position, but it also lessens the user's fatigue by maintaining an even distribution of weight across the helmet.

Recommend with reservations I wanted a modular and when I saw the rear LED light for extra viz at night, I was sold. It works well and you can get a brake kit so that it syncs with your brake lights. It is on the heavy side and after an hour or so it is noticeable. The fit was a bit tight, I shouldve gotten the XL maybe, but I cut some of the liner away and am OK now. As with most sun visors, it's not dark enough, but the top of the head helmet activation slider is great and very easy to work. I ride a lot with the shield up and just the visor down, however the shield now pops out on one side when I do that, so I'm not sure what needs replacing. I will probably move to an open face. Good value for the money I have a 3xl size helmet, I have other 2xl helmets that fit the same as this one. the eye gaurd that pops down dosent cover my eyes properly and the eges of the plast are coarse, leaving a mark on your face . All and all the helmet is good. I purchased the helmet for riding in Bermuda, the weather is almost always warm, the ventolation of this helmet works good. May 6, 2013
Size runs just a tiny bit large so i do not get that snug feeling even when i chose the correct size great features for the price, has the LED in the back for visibility Summer is arriving so many vents is great to have. design looks very good the shell "looks" a little bigger than most helmets really great airflow. built in visor has helped me greatly. gmax 54S modular helmet My previous help was a Symax II. Compared to that helmet, this is every bit as good. I preferred the sun shield mechanism on the Symax but this works ok, I measured at 22 and bought a medium. it's snug on the cheeks but I expect that to break in and fit fine. Great helmet for the price. Buy it. April 29, 2013

Great buy This is my second modular. I love it. Well made. The closing mechanism feels solid and strong. Noise never bother me, because you can't help it, it's a modular helmet with lots of vents. The one thing I don't like is the lever for movin the sun visor. It's down the middle. If you have the main clear visor open, it's difficult to operate. April 22, 2013

gmax vs arai corsair i recently had to replace my much loved arai corsair but did not want to spend $700 on a helmet. i also decided i wanted a modular this time around. i was looking into a shuberth and a shoe and then happened upon this helmet with all the same features for a fraction of the price. i wear a small in the aria so i ordered a small in the gmax but upon receiving it it was too large and moved around on my head too much. i sent it back for an extra small and it fit well. the modular mechanism takes a little getting used to, u push the button up to lift the modular unit instead of pulling it down, which is different from all the others. its definitely nice that the unit has metal locking units instead of plastic ones on some other modulars have. the internal sunvisor is awesome to have, i am very happy that i no longer have to mess with sunglasses in my helmet. i have noticed things look a little bit fuzzy with the sunvisor and the regular visor down at the same time, nothing dangerous but just a little noticeable. airflow in this helmet is not nearly as good as it was in my arai but the sunvisor allows me to ride with that down and the regular visor up giving plenty of airflow. there are plenty of air vents on the helmet but with both visors down i can't feel much air moving within the helmet. the noise level of the gmax is actually about the same as my 5 year old arai at 60-80 mph which was quite surprising for a modular. i don't know what the comparison would have been like if i had spent the $700 on a shuberth but not knowing what i'm missing is ok with me since what i have now is the same as what i had before. the weight of the helmet is noticeably more than my arai which is a little bit of a bummer but also sort of expected with a lower priced modular unit. another very nice feature is the LED light on the back of the helmet which has three modes and adds a good bit of extra visibility when riding at night especially. last nice feature i can think of is the removable and washable internal liner and the ability to switch out cheek pads. my arai didn't give me that ability and obviously gathered some dirt and grime over the past 4 years. all in all i think this helmet offers a great amount of features and competes very nicely with helmets 3-4x its cost. i would recommend it to anyone. I purchased a medium helmet but need to replace the 'inner' with the SM inner. Where can I purchase this and what is the cost ?? Alternatively there are ear parts but no images to show how the attach or work ??
