Problems Manufacturing Defects
Several quality issues with these bags. The internal rubber strap that holds the cover from opening too far was broken straight from the Givi packaging. I see now on other forums that may be ‘common’ quality issue. The small screw was not installed correctly during assembly. The replacement bag had small, but noticeable scratches on the surface. Now after only a couple weeks of garage storage at room temp., I noticed the Givi logo is beginning to separate from the cover (both bags). It appears the adhesive is defective. For the $550 plus cost of these bags, I really expect better quality control. Very very disappointing Givi!

Easy access with a lot of capacity
Great bags for the money. I debated many options and went with these mostly do to cost. I like them more than I though I would. Fantastic capacity for storage. Easy on and off the bike with the key and a push of a button. Easy to get into with the key and a ouch of a button. Nicely made and seemingly durable. I like the increased visual foot print from behind with the red reflectors . I would caution on forcing them closed. If it will not close easily don't force it closed because it can make the case very difficult to open.

good quality, better than average value
This review focuses mostly on construction/durability, as it was my foremost concern when ordering.
** also very important note, there is no rack kit that will fit these bags to my bike (2012 CB1000R). I'm fabricating my own. Just want to leave this note in case another CB owner reads and assumes this is a bolt-on job. Not the case. Sorry CB owners - bolt on options are limited to soft luggage. Hard luggage = custom work on this badboy.
There are no shops in town that even keep this kind of inventory in stock, so I was never able to touch and feel the product before ordering. As a result, I did a lot of watching reviews, install videos, and reading about people's experiences about various hard luggage products. Still, it's pretty hard to tell the difference between cheap plastic and high quality ABS on a youtube video.
Even after all the research, I was apprehensive paying so much for a set of hard luggage not knowing the real quality and durability of the product. For real durability, I have faith in certain brand names like Pelican, but had 0 first-hand experiences with Givi. Ultimately, I wound up choosing this particular set specifically on the curved aesthetic (from the back), which seems to stand alone amongst competing products.
After all that, I can say this: do not worry about the durability or quality of the product. I was impressed by every aspect of the craftsmanship of this product. The outer shell is firm, thick, and well built. The material resists marring, the lids close and latch firmly, and the mounting hardware is built heavy enough to last (I'm pretty critical of welding, and the racks are top notch). They've also nailed down the finish, with important details like rubber grommets for where the luggage makes contact with the rack.
I will mention on install, that (at least with the toprack hardware) there could have been simpler hardware. Rather than engineer a single bracket, they give you a bag of small parts that need to be assembled into what could have ultimately been one piece. The result is a confusing installation at first, but also one of those jobs where you wish you had 3 hands and 5 opposable thumbs.

Givi V35 on NC700X
I had the V35 side cases on my NC700X for over 2000 miles. I usually commute and did some touring with my wife. The installation is easy and the looks are good. I had a small crash and my bike landed on one side. Since there is a colored plate part that can be changed with screws, just change the plate, voila no crash marks.
You don't feel like there's 70 litres of side cases when you are commuting or touring both from weight and aerodynamic perspectives.

Give V35 sidecases
I ride a VStrom 650 and I chose these bags because they are contoured well to this bike and sit low unlike some of the other bags which are higher than the seat.

The quality, styling, ease of use surpass my expections. Their bags just keep getting better with time and I can honestly say that GIVI has spoiled me rotten!

The sidecases are manufactured with attention to detail and construction - the black gloss painted inserts match my motorcycle. Proportioned very well - not too big and not too small. Definitely enough volume to stow the items needed for a trip!
