Great design and bomber construction
Did my first DS camping trip with the Great Basin bag. Packed it full and hardly knew it was there. Great design/features and bomber construction. Chose this over the coyote. Has the compression straps to make it smaller for short hops or load it up on those extended trips.

Perfect budget solution for long trips.
I wanted to take longer trips on my KLR but I didn't want big clunky panniers because of their cost and how much width they add to the bike. The Great Basin carries all I need and doesn't get in the way or break my budget. Plus, when I get to a destination I can remove the unit in seconds and carry it to where I set up my tent. I saved probably more than a thousand bucks over panniers with the Great Basin and my bike is still narrow enough for tight trails. I love it!

definitely recommended.
Really impressive performance. I just used it for a 3,000 mile trip across the U.S. in all sorts of weather during which It held up perfectly. I had been looking at panniers but I like to travel light and finally settled on this instead and used it for all my camping gear and tools with an additional waterproof bag for my clothes. It's very well thought out and sits behind you solid as a rock with plenty of points to which you can attach your other bags. An excellent product and made in the U.S. too. I wholeheartedly recommend this and, as ever, it all comes with revzilla's fantastic customer service.

A Great Alternative to Hard Cases
This saddle bag does an excellent job of distributing the weight of the contents. If you load heavier items in the "legs" of the bag, it really keeps the center of gravity low. Very easy to attach, and is rock solid once it is cinched down. I like that it is available in white - it looks great on my white Triumph Tiger XCx.

The only downside is that it is not the easiest bag to get things out of. However, overall it is an outstanding saddlebag. I'm looking forward to touring and camping with it.

Fit my needs
Good product. I needed a big bag that could be moved from my F800GS to my KLX250S...and this fit the bill perfect. takes a little bit of playing with to get it to fit the way I wanted. (so it did not cover the fuel cap) but once positioned it did the job very well. The strapping system is very nice and allows you to add other dry bags if needed. I took it on a 1,400 mile trip trough TN, NC, VA, and it held up well, kept my stuff dry. We shall see how it wears over time and adventure.

fantastic! !
I have GiantLoops BIG bag, the Ft. Rock, I think they, unfortunately, discontinued it, as it's FANTASTIC!!!!!! It holds 88L, I bought it because my wife not only has balance problems, she's on pain meds. This is big enough to support her, she's actually almost locked in behind me, she's actually fallen asleep on long rides because she feels so secure. It's tough as nails, holds EVERYTHING you could need, and keeps it all dry too!
I'll buy more of their products no question about it!

High Quality Products Never Get Old
I purchased this Giant Loop Giant Basin Saddlebag with the Giant Loop Tank Bag Pro for a 8 day desert trip at Big Bend Ranch State Park. I was considering the Coyote saddlebag and the regular tank bag, but definitely glad I opted for the larger Great Basin—perfect for trip in the wilderness for more than 3 days. The quality is great, design is great and they're made to last. There's cheaper options, but remember you get what you pay for. If you're hard on gear like I am, I believe spending top dollar for bags that not only last longer, but also work on multiple bikes appealed to me.

Easy to use
I use this on my KTM 690R and so far after 1000 miles I have had zero problems. The three drybags included are well sized and you could still fit another two of the smaller drybags inside the outer saddlebag. It fits the KTM well, you have to loosen the back strap and simply push the saddlebag forward every time you fuel up.
It could use some more attach points on the exterior for fuelbottles, etc. But for the price, no complaints!

You just can't go wrong... this is the best in the market
Used it on my KTM 690 Enduro R and also on the R1200GSA, it fits like a glove. It doesn't move at all and you definitely have more space than what you can imagine... Highly recommend this product...

Looks like a perfect fit for my Dorsoduro 1200. Clever and innovative approach to storage without and additional frames etc. Easy to carry a decent amount of gear. Great reviews.

Great price - especially when compared to hard cases + rack + subframe supports and more, this was a no-brainer decision!

last question before placing my order:
It says there is a cable loop. Is it continuous or 2 separate pieces. Cut proof reinforced material? assume its hidden somewhat once the bag is installed on the bike. Anyone using this and where do you lock the cable to?

Does this bag still come with 3 top-roll dry pods?
Michael A on Feb 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mine came with them in 2014 and it sure looks like they still are included, the pods are the yellow critters in the last photo. They work well by the way.
how much does this GL Great Basin weigh when empty, including pods +-? I need to add it to checked luggage to take back to the Baja with me, along with a mountain of other stuff!
PETER B on Jul 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The bag plus dry sacks weigh in at 6.4 lbs when empty.
Would this be usable on a R 1200 GS with Vario sidecases in place? Looking for something to extend down towards the passenger pegs and lower the center of gravity for baggage carried in addition to that placed in the Vario sidecases.
A shopper on Dec 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes it will fit forward of the cases if ridding one up, it is also very flexable and can be mounted over and around the side cases. I have a KTM 1190 adventure with SW motech cases and it fits with all three cases mounted. Make sure it is not in contact with hot exaust. it comes with a heat shield. Also makes a great backrest on long trips, I ride it through the red desert in Australia and it keeps out all the red dust that even gets into my hard cases.
What are the dimensions (more specifically, how high does it sit off the top of the seat)?
Thanks
Syau-fu M on May 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I think it sits close to a foot, but that may be due to the angle of the seat/subframe. I think it can double as a mini backrest if you have a passenger. I have a picture if I can figure out a way to post it.
Is this the 2014 model?
A shopper on Apr 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes.
