Fly Trekker DS Hi-Viz Helmet

The Trekker is a new dual sport helmet from FLY Racing.  It's crossover design helmet combines the best of MX and Street styling and function to create one of the most versatile helmets on the market. The Trekker is ideal for dual sport and adventure touring and offers the comfort of riding without goggles; but when the going gets rough, you can still have the option to flip up or remove the shield and throw on a pair of goggles.

  • Advanced Poly Alloy shell construction, combines high-strength poly materials to create a aggressive design that is durable and lightweight
  • Dual-Density EPS Liner helps reduce the shock of impact by creating a more progressive impact absorption zone
  • Unique visor shape allows for use of goggles when the shield is in the open or closed
  • Multi-Position, Ratcheting Face Shield
  • Removable and washable comfort liner and cheek pads help keep the interior of your helmet clean and fresh
  • 16 total vents (8 intake, 8 exhaust) circulate large volume of airflow to help keep your head cool.
  • Adjustable vents include: 1 mouthpiece, 2 brow, and 2 rear
  • D.O.T. and ECE 22.05 certified

happy median Haven't done much on the highway with it yet, what little I did i was happy with the quietness. I'm used to MC helmets, so I'm not comparing it to a street helmet. I probably should have went up one more size, I had the option to exchange with no problem but I got impatient and took it through some trails now it's all scratched up! Overall happy with it. I ordered it on a thursday, picked standard free shipping, and I has itSaturday afternoon! March 9, 2015
Excellent value. This is my second Fly Trekker. The first one I had served me well, my go to helmet and I wore it out. I find it to be on the quiet side for any kind of helmet, especially behind a windshield of mid to full coverage height. This lid is complementary to my head shape , not long oval at all but more to the square plug roundish type. Make jokes if you must. If you are the opposite of long oval, this is your lid. Great product!! This item definitely delivers some bang for your buck!! Great helmet December 1, 2014
Just a helmet, nothing else. I've had this helmet for a significant amount of time. I had a nasty crash a few weeks ago which my helmet took a significant knock and it protected me fine. The helmet stayed together and I'm alive. After 2 years of riding with this helmet on a daily commute, adventure riding in outback Australia and a good hard crash into a drunk driver in a garbage truck... It was comfortable and lasted forever over so much time and punishment. Friends were getting Shoei's etc and I never once considered it, however, just remember you get what you pay for. It gets a little noisy at higher speeds and but earplugs are made for times like that. My sun glasses would never sit right but I adjusted them as required. It's not heavy either, so even after significantly long rides I never got excessive soreness. Headphones from an iPod etc are okay if you can adjust them when they dislodge upon putting your helmet on. Only 2 things that I would hate about it... -One of the vents totally dislodged and cannot be opened or closed, and can't be fixed because of the way it's made. -Winter in Perth is cold and wet. Riding through fog first thing in the morning is very common. Venting was poor and in the winter months it fogged up significantly. Even cracking the visor slightly didnt help. If you want a helmet that protects your head, looks great and is a cheaper option, then this is the one for you. November 6, 2014
Great comfortable fit for affordable price Great helmet that provides a lightweight fit and comfortable viewing range. I'll be using my for dual sporting purposes of both on and off road. The only negative I have about the helmet is that the visor fogs very easily in low temperatures. October 20, 2014

Kyle K: I have a big oval head and it fits. I haven't been able to find a helmet that fits me this good even in much more expensive brands. I like hiviz! Feb 25, 2014
Jonathan M: I went to my local motorcycle dealer and tried on 45 to 50 helmets. I have been riding for 20 years and fit is the most important feature to me. I am not sold on bling. The winner was a "toss-up" between the Shoei Hornet or the Fly Trekker. Both DS helmets fit me quite well. I really wanted a Visible Helmet for safely. So the color steered me towards the FLY. Then I discovered that it was significantly cheaper. Good bang fot the buck. Oct 8, 2013

A shopper asked: Between the Fly Trekker DS Hi-Viz Helmet and the MSR Xpedition Helmet, which is better? Nov 6, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
George W: I have been riding this helmet 2 yrs and have no complaints.

It is no the highest quality money can buy...then again, the quality far exceeds what I had expected for the price.

The helmet has stood up to 2 years in India with a mix of every day commuter riding with occasional adventure rides. If you are looking for value and practicality: this is your helmet.

Pros: excellent ventilation, well situated ear holes for hearing, very well constructed, great fit, great looks, visor is tough (also fits over goggles: bonus), interchangeable visor options and replacement hardware are readily available online

Cons: excessive wind noise at higher speeds (also wind deflection on visor), hi-vis paint is prone to chipping off when the helmet is even lightly scraped or dropped (SO weak)

james k: I don't have any experience with the MSR helmet, but the Fly has been a fine helmet, even had a bad crash with helmet contact and only suffered a mild concussion. That was good enough for me! Nov 6, 2013

Mark M: greetings- I only have the Fly- but it is a great helmet- not exceptional for the glasses I wear (HJC are better for that) but overall it's a great helmet for the $. Nov 7, 2013

A shopper asked: This helmet is the same as AFX FX-39. AFX FX-39 run approximately 1/3 - 1/2 size large. Is sizing of FLY TREKKER the same? Jun 7, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Waldomort: I own both, though in different sizes for different family members. The FLY and AFX shells and hard parts are identical, but there are differenes in the soft materials (the padding and webbing). The padding appears to be cut from identical patterns, but the materials are different. And the webbing for top of the head is different in design and material. That said, the thickness for the padding appears to be the same, so the sizes are probably the same. Jan 16, 2012

loosenoose: the size was about right for me. i had heard to order a size larger than usual. the XL is firm on my head, but i can shake it a bit. it is tight in the ear and temple area. Feb 16, 2012
Reply to loosenoose Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Chris K: Yes, these helmets are based off the same shell so sizing should be very similar. If anything, the AFX lining and cheekpads tend to fit slightly larger. Jun 7, 2011

A shopper asked: Some reviews state this helmet runs small, I usually wear a small in HJC MX helmets, torn between a small or medium. Anyone else that usually uses MX find it to run small or true to size? Feb 17, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Mark M: Hey- I found the helmet fairly true to size, maybe ‘slightly’ smaller. I typically wear a HJC M and the FLY was slightly smaller in M, but not much. Feb 19, 2015
