Yep, its a helmet. Looked around for some time for an entry level adventure helmet and finally settled on this one. After having worn it for several hundred miles I can give it an honest assessment. I enjoy the helmet and I like that it is a high vis color so it helps you to stand out for traffic. However, after only having the helmet for several months it has badly faded on the top of the helmet and is extremely disappointing as its been a great helmet. She still works like it should but I'll probably end up giving it a rattle can paint job next year to bring it back to life. Other than that the helmet has been fine, it is considerably louder but its manageable with ear plugs... few quirks as noted above but at its price point its a descent value minus the color fading. great helmet for the price Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the helmet. Fit is spot on. Vents pretty good. High viz is awesome. Revzilla kicks butt. Video reviews make all the difference in the world. August 26, 2014
Love this helmet! The hi-viz looks awesome. It fits great. I recommend! August 11, 2014
Great helmet until I crashed Let me preface my review by saying that I don't actually know how hard I crashed, but it was in a woods single track and my head hit a pole of some sort. I got a pretty severe concussion wearing this helmet and honestly I somewhat blame it on the helmet because it seems so flimsy compared to my street helmet. My blame MAY be misplaced so I'll try to be objective here: I will say that overall it is a good purchase but after getting some brain trauma while wearing it I think I'm going to try something else that is a little less cheap. It is an awesome helmet in terms of comfort, style, price, fitment, etc... I think it actually may have saved my life, but at the same time I look at the helmet and it does not inspire confidence. Despite colliding with a pole, the helmet looks brand new still and the exterior is not showing any signs of wear and the helmet stayed put during the whole ordeal. It is a very comfortable helmet for a dual-sport helmet albeit a little loud, but that is to be expected with this style of helmet. September 9, 2014
Great hat! Well built and comfortable. I went with the white and its a clean line great looking helmet. It does run a bit small. I went through the measurements and fell into the medium size. Had to return it for the large. The vents are great and easy to operate with gloves on. Great viability and replacement screens aren't a hundred bucks either! I've owned a few "bike dealer" helmets that were in the $300+ range. Save your money! Spend it on a better jacket or gear. I feel just as safe and love the weight. Can ride 4-6 hours on a Sunday and not have neck fatigue. I'm 6'2 183lb. narrow / oval shape face. September 8, 2014
Poor Quality Helmet Bought this helmet for my son's birthday a year ago and the Hi-Viz color faded to a mustard yellow after about 3 months. Fly said that's normal, would not warranty. July 18, 2014
Uncomfortable and too noisy There are a lot of downsides to this helmet. It is loud. It has a pressure point just above the forehead that is uncomfortable. The advantages of this hemet is that it vents very well and I can wear goggles when off road and just the shield on road. I think that the lack of comfort and being too loud makes this a helmet with too many compromises for a long trip (more than a day or so). If you are wearing it occasionally for the trek into the woods, then it fits the bill nicely. August 28, 2014
Excellent inexpensive dual sport helmet that's brighter than the face of sun. Imho the best fit and finish in this price range for a DS helmet. I removed the peak since my riding is 90% street which eliminated the sail affect at higher mphs. It's impossible to ignore since it's SUPER bright and looks great with the dark smoke and mirrored face shield options. July 4, 2014

Kyle K: I have a big oval head and it fits. I haven't been able to find a helmet that fits me this good even in much more expensive brands. I like hiviz! Feb 25, 2014
Jonathan M: I went to my local motorcycle dealer and tried on 45 to 50 helmets. I have been riding for 20 years and fit is the most important feature to me. I am not sold on bling. The winner was a "toss-up" between the Shoei Hornet or the Fly Trekker. Both DS helmets fit me quite well. I really wanted a Visible Helmet for safely. So the color steered me towards the FLY. Then I discovered that it was significantly cheaper. Good bang fot the buck. Oct 8, 2013

A shopper asked: Between the Fly Trekker DS Hi-Viz Helmet and the MSR Xpedition Helmet, which is better? Nov 6, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
George W: I have been riding this helmet 2 yrs and have no complaints.

It is no the highest quality money can buy...then again, the quality far exceeds what I had expected for the price.

The helmet has stood up to 2 years in India with a mix of every day commuter riding with occasional adventure rides. If you are looking for value and practicality: this is your helmet.

Pros: excellent ventilation, well situated ear holes for hearing, very well constructed, great fit, great looks, visor is tough (also fits over goggles: bonus), interchangeable visor options and replacement hardware are readily available online

Cons: excessive wind noise at higher speeds (also wind deflection on visor), hi-vis paint is prone to chipping off when the helmet is even lightly scraped or dropped (SO weak)

james k: I don't have any experience with the MSR helmet, but the Fly has been a fine helmet, even had a bad crash with helmet contact and only suffered a mild concussion. That was good enough for me! Nov 6, 2013

A shopper asked: This helmet is the same as AFX FX-39. AFX FX-39 run approximately 1/3 - 1/2 size large. Is sizing of FLY TREKKER the same? Jun 7, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Waldomort: I own both, though in different sizes for different family members. The FLY and AFX shells and hard parts are identical, but there are differenes in the soft materials (the padding and webbing). The padding appears to be cut from identical patterns, but the materials are different. And the webbing for top of the head is different in design and material. That said, the thickness for the padding appears to be the same, so the sizes are probably the same. Jan 16, 2012

loosenoose: the size was about right for me. i had heard to order a size larger than usual. the XL is firm on my head, but i can shake it a bit. it is tight in the ear and temple area. Feb 16, 2012

Chris K: Yes, these helmets are based off the same shell so sizing should be very similar. If anything, the AFX lining and cheekpads tend to fit slightly larger. Jun 7, 2011
