Fly Trekker Dual Sport Helmet

The Trekker is a dual sport helmet from FLY Racing.  Its crossover design helmet combines the best of MX and Street styling and function to create one of the most versatile helmets on the market. The Trekker is ideal for dual sport and adventure touring and offers the comfort of riding without goggles; but when the going gets rough, you can still have the option to flip up or remove the shield and throw on a pair of goggles.

  • Advanced Poly Alloy shell construction, combines high-strength poly materials to create a aggressive design that is durable and lightweight
  • Dual-Density EPS Liner helps reduce the shock of impact by creating a more progressive impact absorption zone
  • Unique visor shape allows for use of goggles when the shield is in the open or closed
  • Multi-Position, Ratcheting Face Shield
  • Removable and washable comfort liner and cheek pads help keep the interior of your helmet clean and fresh
  • 16 total vents (8 intake, 8 exhaust) circulate large volume of airflow to help keep your head cool.
  • Adjustable vents include: 1 mouthpiece, 2 brow, and 2 rear
  • D.O.T. and ECE 22.05 certified

Fly Trekker DS Helmet - 2011 4.4 5 126 126
Great helmet for the price The looks of the helmet are awesome. Always got compliments on how cool it looked. its comfortable but didn't fit as snug as id like a helmet to fit. its slightly on the loud side but considering its a dual sport its no big deal. visibility on this helmet is awesome because of the huge shield in dual sport helmets. for the price this helmet is a really good. September 30, 2015
Excellent budget helmet for a newbie It looks awesome, I got the hi viz and you can be seen from the distance (very important when you´re learning) it fits a little bit tight in the cheek pads but once you brake it in it fits great. you can feel the massive amount of air when riding even at low speed. adjustable and removable sun visor its a great feature I´m Very happy with this affordable helmet August 31, 2015
Good for the price Wish I would of gotten a little more expensive helmet, but for the money this is a great product. For something like motovlogging the air noise is pretty loud and wouldn't suggest it. May 26, 2015
Great product. With the removable shield this helmet is great for on and off road riding or of you just are sure which helmet your looking for. Feels great, I would def recommend this product May 25, 2015
Some good features, build quality is eh. I had to send the first one I got back because the front top left vent switch was busted. I got another one and the front right vent works but is hard to get with gloves on. The vent slides are nice but the rear one is the nicest vent,, slides nicely. I would recommend this if your looking to get on the road quick but there are other helments that are cheaper that you could buy that have better build quality. June 3, 2015
worth the buy Aggressive look, bought the gold mirror face shield to go with it. Looks awesome April 16, 2015
happy median Haven't done much on the highway with it yet, what little I did i was happy with the quietness. I'm used to MC helmets, so I'm not comparing it to a street helmet. I probably should have went up one more size, I had the option to exchange with no problem but I got impatient and took it through some trails now it's all scratched up! Overall happy with it. I ordered it on a thursday, picked standard free shipping, and I has itSaturday afternoon! March 9, 2015
Excellent value. This is my second Fly Trekker. The first one I had served me well, my go to helmet and I wore it out. I find it to be on the quiet side for any kind of helmet, especially behind a windshield of mid to full coverage height. This lid is complementary to my head shape , not long oval at all but more to the square plug roundish type. Make jokes if you must. If you are the opposite of long oval, this is your lid. WESLEY R: The Fly Trekker DS Matte Black helmet looks superb for the price. After a couple months of use I am still impressed with the helmet. I have used it on my DRZ400 mainly in the trails in Colorado. I always remove the shield and use goggles on the trails. Overall the matte black has held up well without marks from branches. It does well on the street as well, though I would prefer a darker shield to block the morning sun. It fits comfortably and all parts/pieces work as expected. May 10, 2014

A shopper asked: It seems to me that the Trekker Helmet is a slight bit better since the FX 39 is considered "entry level". Am I correct in my assumption that the Trekker is a better helmet? Jul 30, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Chris K: Both the Trekker and the FX-39 are considered 'entry-level' in the Dual Sport Helmet world. These two are actually based off of the same shell so there aren't very many differences. We haven't gotten enough feedback to really see one pull ahead of the other, but my personal opinion goes to the FX-39. I like the way it fits and feels a bit better. Aug 3, 2011

RudyRocks: If I were buying the helmet for myself, I would buy the Trekker. However, if it were for someone else (IE: part time rider / passenger) I would get the FX-39. I think the Trekker is made of better materials. Just my two cents. Sep 10, 2012

JC9996: Take it for what its worth.... but I have read several times lately that they are the exact same helmet, made by the same manufacturer.... just a slight cosmetic change.

Its the internet.... so it HAS to be true. :)

appjoe2004: The fly does look better considering the more vents. Have you considered the AGV? Seems to be another great option if the budget allows. I know AGV has always been a great helmet for me. Sep 16, 2012

A shopper asked: If my head measures 58.5 cm, do I get a M or L size? Sep 15, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Alexander H: According to their sizing chart, you would be a large. I fit into the small size category on their sizing chart, however I tried a small on at one of my local moto dealerships and it was so small that it hurt my head and I couldn't even close my mouth because my cheeks were jammed between my teeth. I would not get a medium if I were you. You just barely fit the large size category and in my opinion the fly trekker runs small. Oct 12, 2013

Dark: Head size was around 58.5 to 58.8ish in the biggest measurement. I went with L, it's a very snug fit everywhere, the forehead is a bit too tight, hopefully it will wear in a bit there though. Glad I didn't go M. Oct 24, 2012

appjoe2004: your probably right on the border of med and large. I would go with the medium considering the break in. The med may be a little tight in the beginning but thats much better than the large not fitting at all Sep 16, 2012

A shopper asked: The FX-39 comes with a kit to remove the visor, is this also true for the trekker? Aug 31, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kenneth S: You do get a plasic screw driver with the helmet, which could easily be stuck in you tank bag, but I took a look at it this morning and I could easily remove the screws with a coin that I had in my pocket. I hope that helps you out. Ken Sep 26, 2013
Reply to Kenneth Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Paul W: No. There's no special tool. I find a quarter works well to remove the two screws securing the peak, and a dime works for the two inner screws that hold down the faceshield. Sep 25, 2013

Balaji D: The Fly Trekker, also comes with a hard plastic multi-tool to remove the peak and visor. Sep 26, 2013

A shopper asked: What is the interior like in this Fly Trekker for accomodating my Sena SMH-5fm? & for that matter while on the subject, the same query for the AFX FX39/41?...thx. Jul 10, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kenneth W: My daughter uses a SMH10 on this helmet and it works. The fit is not great due to the angles on the side of the helmet for the unit itself, but it works. In terms of the interior for the ear piece and microphone, it is OK. Note that we have boom microphones so it can be adjusted in and does not have to be velcro'ed to the front mouth piece. If you have the wire type for the microphone, not sure if that would work very well because of the front vent. Jul 10, 2014
Reply to Kenneth Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Balaji D: Fly Trekker DS Helmet: There is enough space in the ear cutouts to stick the speakers. The Sena main unit does not sit flush on the side of the helmet due to the shape of the helmet, but once screwed thight, it just stays. Jul 11, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi this same helmet is available here in Australia, but its far more expensive, would you have any idea if it is legal for me to buy it from revzilla and use it in Australia? Jun 5, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
A S: Hi Thomas, What he means is if you ship it to Australia, will it have an Aus Standard sticker on it or just the DOT sticker? We need that to stay legal.. Can you confirm for us? Thanks, MC Aug 5, 2014

Thomas B: Just buy it from Revzilla and save the cash. I doubt that the helmet police will be standing right behind the delivery man. Jul 4, 2014

A shopper asked: I was wondering if anyone has bought the purple mirror shield? When someone is looking in to the helmet, is it a true mirror where you can't see the riders face at all? Nov 30, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Raymond B: Hidden behind the mirror.

Yes, this purple mirror shield is great at masking your big pearly whites behind this shield. Of course depending on the light and how you're position to the sun, passer byes may get a glimpse at who's underneath this shell. But, with the light to your back those who are looking to get a peek through this shield will see nothing but their own reflection.
Nov 30, 2013
Reply to Raymond Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Brent W: The shield I have is truly mirrored- you can't see inside from the outside , but I am not sure if I have the purple shield or not. Revzilla asked me to answer this question so maybe that's the one I bought. Nov 30, 2013

A shopper asked: Talking from a cosmetic perspective: Are the logos on this helmet decals (with clear coat over) or is it a sticker? I tend to like to remove the badging if I can. Dec 22, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Simon M: They are definitely decals under a clear coat. You could cover them up with stickers if you want, but if you want them gone, nothing short of sandpaper is gonna get it done. Dec 22, 2014

A shopper asked: my measurement is 23". should I go a little larger and go with an XL or would a L be ok? Aug 30, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Andrew H: 23 is still in the medium size range. The powers of deductive reasoning would allow me to say a L will work just fine. I've got a 22 head and the M fits me very well. Aug 30, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kenneth S: I did not order a tinted shield with my helmet, I ordered clear, but you should be able to order extra shields in clear or tinted, Hope that helps. Ken Aug 26, 2013

A shopper asked: I would like to use the helmet in the winter for snowmobiling as well as the summer for dirtbiking/fourwheeling. I have found the single wall shields fog very easily in the winter. Feb 18, 2013

A shopper asked: What dual sport helmets have pads that work well with glasses? Apr 6, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (1)
Chris K: The best helmets that I know of would be the Shoei Hornet and the Arai XD-3, however, we recently tried the AFX FX-39 and it works really well too! The Fly Trekker is made by the same manufacturer as the AFX, so I would imagine the same would be true for this helmet. Apr 8, 2011
Reply to Chris Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Alec S: Just like what Chris K. said, Fly Trekker DS will have plenty of room for you to put your glasses on. It was designed to be worn with goggles so it leaves plenty of room inside for your glasses. Jun 4, 2011
Reply to Alec Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Alexander H: Alec keep in mind the goggle strap runs outside of the helmet. Oct 12, 2013
Alexander H: It would most likely depend on how thick/tight the ear pads are in the helmet. The fact that it accommodates goggles has nothing to do with how well it will work with glasses. Oct 12, 2013
