Great Helmet I Would Highly Recommend!!
I purchased the helmet earlier this summer after riding for 2 months with no helmet and catching flack from all of my family. I never thought that I would find a helmet that I liked let alone that I would absolutely love everything from the styling to the price this helmet is great. I ordered the Matte Black XXL with silver mirrored lens and I can say that I couldn't be happier and am in fact thinking of purchasing a gold mirrored lens for it. My family no longer gives me flack and I have even got many compliments on it from strangers but my favorite comment came from when I took the helmet out of the packaging and my father said that helmet is just plain BAD A*$. The helmet has many great features including that it breathes exceptionally well even on scorching hot days I have never taken the helmet off and had sweaty hair but the vents are not as easy to use as I thought but is not a problem I just always leave them open. I would highly recommend the helmet to anyone but be warned that they do run a little small so order a size larger than you normally wear. My only two minor issues are that the shield optics are just a little off on the outer corners of your vision on both sides and that the visor creates a bit of force that wants to take your head back but I got used to it fairly quick and it is a small price to pay for a helmet this cool.

True to the size on the "Measuring" video for fitting a helmet.
As previously stated in other reviews that I read before purchasing this helmet... I got a medium, and it was slightly narrow in the cheek and temple area. I was able to pull out a thin layer of foam from the removable cheek pads, and this completely fixed the problem. I cannot flaw the helmet for this as I understand that everyones head is different. Going to a large would have been way too big so I was willing to risk the medium. If you measure your head, and it comes out to a medium... get the medium. Dont think "Nah, I gotta be a large. Im a man! despite what the tape is telling me."<br><br>Helmet is great all around. Although a bit noisy.... but what can you expect from a dual sport/cheaper helmet with a visor on the freeway. I have not noticed the spoiler effect when turning your head as stated. Maybe its the stock windshield on my '12 KLR 650? I would buy this helmet again x 4 before buying a $500 similar helmet for my style of riding.

Great hat! Well built and comfortable.
I went with the white and its a clean line great looking helmet. It does run a bit small. I went through the measurements and fell into the medium size. Had to return it for the large. The vents are great and easy to operate with gloves on. Great viability and replacement screens aren't a hundred bucks either! I've owned a few "bike dealer" helmets that were in the $300+ range. Save your money! Spend it on a better jacket or gear. I feel just as safe and love the weight. Can ride 4-6 hours on a Sunday and not have neck fatigue. I'm 6'2 183lb. narrow / oval shape face.

Good for the price, but not recommended for hwy use
PROS:<br>First off, it is a good bang for your buck and very versatile. You can run it with or without the visor, shield or goggles. The helmet breathes extremely well and the interior is made of comfortable material that is easily removed/installed for cleaning. There are open slots by your ears so a Bluetooth headset is easily installed. Tinted shields are cheap and only require a flat head (included) to install. And lastly this helmet does turn heads and looks pretty mean, I get complements on it all the time.<br><br>CONS:<br>This is my first "dual sport" helmet and I will say this.... This helmet is geared more for city or occasional street user but it has no business being on the highway. Not only is it incredibly loud past 50mph, but it's very unstable and strains your neck at higher speeds. Four days ago I took my supermoto on the HWY between 75-100mph for about 20 minutes in this helmet and my neck it still strained from the excessive drag this helmet has. Thank god I have a Shoei RF1100 too, it will be my only street helmet from here on out. NOTE: I removed the visor for the ride back and it was much more stable, highly suggest this if you own this helmet and plan on riding on the highway. Like I said above its extremely vented, but too much for a cold day even with all the vents shut. And on cold days the shield will fog, I suggest buying the optional $15 breath deflector to resolve this. And lastly this is a large (and heavy) helmet, as in the exterior dimensions are larger than some other helmets in this class.<br><br>This is the best dual sport helmet under $350, so at around $125 it is a bargain. But if you have the extra money go for the Shoei or Arai, the build quality and features are far superior over anything this helmet can offer. I will be selling this helmet soon to upgraded.

Best looking helmet for the price!!!
Have had this helmet now about a month and overall I am satisfied with my purchase. The only knock i have with the helmet is when at speed, in excess of 50mph, if you turn your head slightly with the front vent open it makes a whistling sound. My first experience of this was in traffic and i thought people were slamming on the breaks making their tires skid. They must of thought i was crazy b/c i kept turning around to look behind me. Mabey its just mine...not sure but once you know its not someone about to slam into to you it kinda fades away as background noise when your used to it. But for someone thats in stop and go to and from work, I am thankfull when I can get above 50 and its no bother. For the price, in my opinion its one the of better looking dual sport helmets out there. I have the matte black and would def reccomend this helmet to a friend. REVZILLA ROCKS!

Has perfect features for a dual sport or 'Sumo
Sized like a Shoei. I have five helmets already for road and dirt, all considered high-end. This helmet can replace four of them, ez. I really wanted the visor & bill feature over all else. I sanded off 3/4" from the bill's length. .PERFECT. Up to 70 mph the bill is not noticed. I prefer D-rings, the Fly has it. I use foam plugs, so any additional wind noises is not an issue. At 85+ mph the bill is only noticed if you try a Linda Blair move, so, well, don't . Even then it's not an issue, it's just a slight tug. I did some slight pushing in of some sty-foam for better glasses fit, but I do that with every lid I own. A+ lid.

Just what I wanted
I had done tons of internet research on DS helmets. The Trekker had every feature I was looking for and in within my budget. Im really happy with it so far. I've only had it for about a month and have only ridden paved roads but so far Im convinced that this is a great helmet.

Great Helmet
I have just finished riding Northern Laos in their hot season with this helmet. Can not fault it. The venting system was excellent, and although we had little rain, what we had, the helmet handled well. I set up a helmet comms system also, and it fitted and worked well in the helmet. The only comment that I can make towards a negative, was created by myself, I bought a matt black helmet, which was surface hot all the time, maybe a different colour for the heat. When we got moving though, the venting worked extremely well. Highly recommended.

Great helmet!!
Great helmet for the entry level rider. I expected nothing less for FLY Racing. Wide visibility, almost no distortion in the face shield, and plenty of vents to let air flow. I think my only complaint is that they're only available in solid colors. Other than that, would deffinately buy another should the need arise.

This was a great entry helmet into adventure type helmets. It's kind of noisy and the visor catches wind a lot. For the price it's great but I upgraded to an icon variant and will never turn back.

Great for when i was riding around on my ninja 250, visor would fly up at high speeds on my Ducati forced me to get a helmet with a locking visor. Recommend for a city helmet or off road.

The Fly Trekker DS Matte Black helmet looks superb for the price. After a couple months of use I am still impressed with the helmet. I have used it on my DRZ400 mainly in the trails in Colorado. I always remove the shield and use goggles on the trails. Overall the matte black has held up well without marks from branches. It does well on the street as well, though I would prefer a darker shield to block the morning sun. It fits comfortably and all parts/pieces work as expected.

It seems to me that the Trekker Helmet is a slight bit better since the FX 39 is considered "entry level". Am I correct in my assumption that the Trekker is a better helmet?
A shopper on Jul 30, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Both the Trekker and the FX-39 are considered 'entry-level' in the Dual Sport Helmet world. These two are actually based off of the same shell so there aren't very many differences. We haven't gotten enough feedback to really see one pull ahead of the other, but my personal opinion goes to the FX-39. I like the way it fits and feels a bit better.
Hi this same helmet is available here in Australia, but its far more expensive, would you have any idea if it is legal for me to buy it from revzilla and use it in Australia?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Thomas, What he means is if you ship it to Australia, will it have an Aus Standard sticker on it or just the DOT sticker? We need that to stay legal.. Can you confirm for us? Thanks, MC
If my head measures 58.5 cm, do I get a M or L size?
A shopper on Sep 15, 2012
BEST ANSWER: According to their sizing chart, you would be a large. I fit into the small size category on their sizing chart, however I tried a small on at one of my local moto dealerships and it was so small that it hurt my head and I couldn't even close my mouth because my cheeks were jammed between my teeth. I would not get a medium if I were you. You just barely fit the large size category and in my opinion the fly trekker runs small.
Can anyone find replacement shields for this helmet?
A shopper on Aug 23, 2011
BEST ANSWER: We now have faceshields for this helmet!

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/fly-trekker-face-shield
The FX-39 comes with a kit to remove the visor, is this also true for the trekker?
A shopper on Aug 31, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You do get a plasic screw driver with the helmet, which could easily be stuck in you tank bag, but I took a look at it this morning and I could easily remove the screws with a coin that I had in my pocket. I hope that helps you out. Ken
What is the interior like in this Fly Trekker for accomodating my Sena SMH-5fm? & for that matter while on the subject, the same query for the AFX FX39/41?...thx.
A shopper on Jul 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: My daughter uses a SMH10 on this helmet and it works. The fit is not great due to the angles on the side of the helmet for the unit itself, but it works. In terms of the interior for the ear piece and microphone, it is OK. Note that we have boom microphones so it can be adjusted in and does not have to be velcro'ed to the front mouth piece. If you have the wire type for the microphone, not sure if that would work very well because of the front vent.
I was wondering if anyone has bought the purple mirror shield? When someone is looking in to the helmet, is it a true mirror where you can't see the riders face at all?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Hidden behind the mirror.

Yes, this purple mirror shield is great at masking your big pearly whites behind this shield. Of course depending on the light and how you're position to the sun, passer byes may get a glimpse at who's underneath this shell. But, with the light to your back those who are looking to get a peek through this shield will see nothing but their own reflection.
D-Ring or ratchet helmet strap?
A shopper on Mar 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is a D-Ring with a snap for the excess strap.
Talking from a cosmetic perspective: Are the logos on this helmet decals (with clear coat over) or is it a sticker? I tend to like to remove the badging if I can.
A shopper on Dec 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: They are definitely decals under a clear coat. You could cover them up with stickers if you want, but if you want them gone, nothing short of sandpaper is gonna get it done.
my measurement is 23". should I go a little larger and go with an XL or would a L be ok?
A shopper on Aug 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: 23 is still in the medium size range. The powers of deductive reasoning would allow me to say a L will work just fine. I've got a 22 head and the M fits me very well.
