Not what I expected, but not bad for the price I own a pair of Scorpion Deuce overpants in small, and I felt the impact foam knee pads, combined with the looser fit of the pants, was not enough protection for the knees, so I wanted to get some extra padding there. These were the cheapest knee pads I found that I could order. Other's cost upwards of double, triple, or even more the price (!). These being dirt-oriented, they do not strap completely over your knees, and they're not moulded to your bent knee, either. What I mean is, if your knee is bent, the upper cup will stay straight up, as there are only two velcro straps to attach it to your calf. Now, seeing as I plan on wearing these underneath a pair of overpants, this isn't a problem, and they slip right in almost perfectly. For the price, these seem to provide great knock protection. I mean, you can put them on, swing and RAM your knee into something hard, like a table corner, and feel next to nothing. Obviously, they are not made out of high-tech materials, consisting basically of some foam and a hard plastic shell. However, this lack of super-tech doesn't seem to prevent them from being decent for keeping your kneecaps from cracking. It's also got good shin protection, so you could whap your lower legs on something like, say, a curb during a fall and be in better shape than without them. Fit-wise, they're not spectacular, but serviceable. Under my overpants, they feel comfortably tight. I ride a Ninja 500, and with the leg position as bent as it is, they'll still be comfortably tight, but nothing terrible. Oh, and they fit just above my Icon Reign boots, which are full-length, so it's just about perfect there. Now, you'll probably want to have some sort of skin-tight under-layer around your legs, though, because I imagine those straps will get a little abrasive on bare skin after, say, 100km. And airflow? Unless you wear these under aerated dirtbike pants, or out in the open (wouldn't recommend it, as they'd likely slip off their intended location; pants hold them in check), the airflow is going to be average to minimal. It's got some venting, but again, nothing spectacular. I'll come back when I've tested them fully. Still, considering the price, I'm satisfied my knees are going to fair much better with these than without, especially under my lightly armoured overpants. They came in an okay little carrying case, too. May 21, 2013
