This is a good product. This is a good product. It is durable feeling and easy to use. These pants are great for winter riding. I only had one complaint and it was a small tear in the mesh inside of the outer pants. I didn't think it was a huge deal so I didn't return them, but I am certain revzilla would have if I asked. February 26, 2014
Pants just right Fits true to size chart.. Like that you can reach thru to your jean pockets.. Wish it had D30 armor in knee pads.( like the Kilimanjaro jacket). can put them in though which I probably will. Still winter here in Alaska so have not ridden in them yet.. Will update…As always Revzilla was great.. Oh yeah… can put pants on over boots…A must have feature…Stay Safe... February 6, 2014
First gear going down with the ship 4 Peaces of FIrstgear product and this is the latest one to fail. Darn leg seam open up. Why? Cheapness in making them. Use single line stitching instead of double line stitching. Anything goes wrong and the seam open up! Sadly the 2014 replacement is even more cheaply made then the 2012 version it replaced. No aggestments at all You be using a belt to hold them up etc. What once was a good brand isn't anymore . January 29, 2014
There ok a little big. Like the pants though to fit my 42in waist the seat and hips have to much room. The heat resistant material needs to come up higher on inner leg, have already melted a hole in them. December 24, 2013
Great Commuter Pants I purchased these after my last pair of pants (Fly Racing Butane) ripped. They have a good number of pockets. They have vents, which I don't use because I wear these for winter and rain riding. The leg zippers are easy to get up and down, and I have no fear of the zipper snagging the fabric liner. They are a little bit loose without the liner in but the knee pads feel secure. All and all a good pair of pants. December 23, 2013
Snug in the waist I am rather short with a typical pants size of 32W - 30L. The 32W overpant is snug even over dress pants, yet the rest of the pant and legs has more than adequate room for the liner as well. But once they are on, and they slide on easily since the zippers go 3/4 up the side (much higher than many and for me, this is one of the highest priorities for commuting), there is no air leakage and it is comfortable. I have not had the pleasure of riding in a heavy downpour or freezing rain yet, but I see no reason to doubt their protection. Paired with the Kilimanjaro jacket you are good for all late fall through spring riding. No reason to store your bike. December 2, 2013
Good pants for the price. I got these for cold weather riding and so far I am really happy with them. The legs are long so they don't ride up when I am on the bike. Warm enough for cold weather in Texas. November 11, 2013
Firstgear HT Overpants I'm not a gear junky that has the best of the best gear. I'm just a guy that rides a bike year around to save money that also loves riding. I have a Firstgear jacket and just got the HT over pant's because I needed wet weather protection. I've been in two heavy rains with these pants and have stayed dry both times on my 30 minute commute. If rain or single digit temps aren't happening, I don't use them, but if its cold or wet, these work! YMMV. November 4, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
daryl m: To much of PITA to use my ski pants boots on and off, and wanted real riding pants. Discounted price, smart design 2/3 zipper, removable liner for layering up for different season. Would have liked some color options. I feel like anything other then black would be safer to be seen...but theres tons of things I can put on the my motorcycle instead of my clothing. Oct 20, 2013
Bryan C: Video review and explanation. Oct 20, 2013
James G: Impressed with jacket, maybe pants will work out too. Sep 19, 2013
Thomas W: Replacing damaged pair. Excellent riding pants! Aug 30, 2013
Michael M: Perfect for commuting. Aug 25, 2013
John H: Own these pants in a larger size. I lost a lot of weight, and needed a smaller size. Chose the same model. They work well for me. Aug 7, 2013

A shopper asked: Do I understand correctly that you would choose to wear either the liner inserted in the overpant or a pair of "jeans", but not both simultaneously? Mar 22, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
TheRev: On a cold day, I wear jeans, liner, and overpant. I've never worn them without jeans, though I'm sure you could. Most days, down to the 30's, I leave the liner at home and I'm comfortable. The liner is just an extra layer of insulation. Apr 29, 2013

RevZilla: The Firstgear HT Overpants are intended to be worn as an overpant, which means you can wear your normal pant/jean underneath of the jeans with or without the liner. Both ways work! Mar 25, 2013

A shopper asked: I am researching cold weather overpants and need to make sure that I have the most durable, warm AND cost effective pair for the money. May 2, 2011

Chris K: These pants are heat-resistant, but not meltproof! If you have an exposed exhaust that runs hot, then you would definitely want to avoid direct contact. For radial engine heat, they protect fine, but direct contact would be hard on any material. May 3, 2011

TheRev: I've had mine for over a year and worn them through two winters. I have NO melting with mine and they come into contact with the pipes at many stops. Apr 29, 2013

A shopper asked: If I measure from the floor to my crotch, it is 34 inches. Yet I wear Lucky jeans with a 32 inch inseam. I'm not sure if I should order regular or tall HT overpants. I'd prefer that they are the correct length for riding, even if slightly long for walking. Dec 10, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chris K: The inseam of the 36 Tall is 34.5, so I would go for the tall sizing. In the riding position, a longer inseam is often needed to compensate. Dec 22, 2011
