Dainese SSC Alpha D-WP Shoes 4.6 5 13 13
Good riding shoes After scouting a number of websites and reviewing numerous types of riding boots, I selected this Dainese model. The selection is based, in part, on functional aspects, including the lacing system, boot height, and style. I feel I can walk around with these since many other types of riding shoes are clunky off the bike. They were a bit stiff out of the box, but I wore them everywhere over an entire weekend for the brake-in period. Initially, the lacing system causes you to over thighten the shoe, but that is something that is readily fixed with trial and error. The fit was fine for me (US 8.5) and I did not need to buy a size up, like some buyers have noted. In cold weather, I use socks used for skiing and snow boarding, as these socks have internal pading (here meaning insulation) and this works well. Troika, Virginia, 2009 VROD December 24, 2012
great! I'm happy, the boots are comfortable, strong, safe, beautiful ... dainese definitely is a great brand! Revzilla and the best of the best! my boots arrived in Mexico in excellent condition. December 17, 2012
Quite satisfied Overall these are exactly what I was looking for, a pair of good riding shoes that I can use in the rain, and use them everyday extensively. The tightening mechanism is absolutely awesome and very easy to operate with gloves on, and it seems to be holding up just fine with time. My only complaint (is partly my fault) when I was walking, I accidentally swiped them together, and one of the side ankle pucks (not sure whats the best name for it) fell off. I expected them to be more durable than that, kind of makes me worry how they're going to hold up in a crash if simply walking caused a piece of them to fall off. December 10, 2012
style and protection This boot looks good. It offers style with enough stiffness for daily performance, but enough flex to walk in. The protection features give the confidence and security your looking for in a daily boot. December 3, 2012
Love em Finally got my Alphas after being back ordered. Have a pair of Dianese Naked shoes and like the comfort of them, but they are not for cooler or wet weather. The Alpha will work. Got to wear them this weekend and were great on the bike and very acceptable off the bike. I have a narrow ankle and almost require a lacing boot and these work great since I can tighten them for comfort. I have to be able to wear off the bike cormfortably. The sole is great on the bike and since there are no cleats, they do not lock in the rubber buttons on my pegs. A mite stiff off the bike but good feel shifting and braking. Do not know how they will be when it gets hot, have only been in 50-60 right now. Attached pic you can see the red stripe on the side. I would get them again. November 21, 2012
A little pricey but still a great shoe. This shoe not only looks good but it also feels good. Just don't make the mistake of wearing ankle socks like I did because they will rub on some parts of your ankle after walking around for a little bit and give you a blister. It feels pretty solid and has good ankle support so I feel like I am protected when wearing them. Walking around in these are comfortable due to the design of the back of the cuff. My foot size is a 7 but I purchased the 7.5 and it fits perfectly with a sock on. The airflow is almost non-existent but what I did notice was that my feet didn't feel like they were overheating when I was riding for about 2 hours in 80 degrees. It 's also great at keeping the cold air out on chilly nights. September 26, 2012
Awesomeness These riding shoes are badass. I usually where size 11 or 11.5 and I went with size 11 (Dainese size 44). They fit fine, a bit tight, and a little bit narrow footbed (which was good for me) but nothing too extreme as I rated it an average footbed not narrow. Once I broke them in a little they are a perfect fit and live up to the second skin concept name. I wear them everyday commuting to college and they are comfortable when I'm walking around campus. Sole is pretty stiff but not too bad (I wear them mostly all day and no complaints). These shoes have a very cool style and look good with a pair of jeans over them. They look pretty incognito for protection they provide. They were quite expensive when I bought my pair but they were totally worth every penny. When I'm riding, these shoes make all the difference in the world. They are not to heavy, nice and skinny, and super grippy. They provide supreme control when riding and I never ride without them now. September 25, 2012
Dainese SSC Alpha D-WP Shoes - Good purchase Great pair of riding shoes. Initially a bit hesitant with regards to the size as i normally wear a UK 10 and an 11 or 11.5 US. I went with the 45 and they fit perfectly. Build qulity is up to the usual high Dainese standards and while the shoes are more specifically designed for comort, they offer an impressive level of protection. The speed lace system is a nice bonus along with the understated reflective inserts which are a lot brighter than you think when reflecting light after dark. k7 Gsxr 750 August 6, 2012

Would these be considered as the most comfortable/most protection when it comes to foot safety. I want a boot/shoe that has the most protection and comfort. I would be using them everyday walking around campus so I wouldn't want them to be uncomfortable. I was also looking at the Cortech Latigo Boots and considering them but wondering if they would be comfortable off the bike.

Answer:
I personally own these and wear them in Florida. They are very comfortable and have protection equal to their comfort I'd that makes sense. It's not a track boot but offers good protection for riding on the street then being able to wear around. I also have the Dainese asphalt shoe and it is extremely comfortable, but has a little less protection. It's a give and take. You can walk around in the asphalts all day just like a high top shoe.

Answer:
they are not a boot so protection is comprimised but as a balance I think this is a good one. Not sure if they would feel great walking around campus all day though. I do like the proctection comfort balance and use them to commute to work but I change into sneakers at work. Hope this helps

Answer:
These boots will offer breathable characteristics but will not be the best option for summer riding. The Dainese Asphalt and Dyno naked would be two good options to consider for better venting properties.

Answer:
Not really...I wear them in Florida and only when it's chilly outside...so rarely....it's a very comfy boot, but it isn't really ventilated. For summer, I wear the Dainese Asphalt. Now that is a very "cool" shoe.

Answer:
These boots don't really breathe, during my ride I tried angling my feet in different positions to catch some airflow but I got nothing. Though, with little to no air flow my feet didn't feel like they were over heating. The boots work great at keeping the cold out as well.

Answer:
I have worn mine in 80-85 degree weather. There is no venting/airflow, but my feet were not noticeably uncomfortable.
