Hi-def yellow shield great for the rain.
I live in the Pacific Northwest and I bought the hi-def yellow face shield to enhance my vision in the rain. Works great for bumping up the contrast on those grey days, and the anti-fog coating does what its supposed to.

Easy on, easy off.
Easy on, easy off. The problem, if there is one, is that a person unfamiliar with the mechanics of the face shield (like your rider) may rip it off of the helmet without much problem. That's why I needed a new one. With shipping, the shield was $42, and that seems like too much when the helmet new cost under $200. Other than that, no problems.

Light Blue Iridium for the Win
I don't like wearing sun glasses, and I hate the idea of having to switch faceshields because I go to work when the sun's up and leave when its a few hours from coming back up. You still retain all the anti-fog and protection of the original faceshield, but now I have good protection from the sun and I still see perfectly well at night even without starlight or a strong moon.

Dark Gold Iridium
Absolutely love the dark gold iridium faceshield..
I was kind of worried at first due to the visibility at night but its perfect! Won't have to worry about swapping out the clear shield at night.

Works as it's supposed to.
Standard dark smoke face shield, and works as it's supposed to. The dark smoke is an ok darkness for sunny days, but I don't think it has any anti-glare coatings on it. At night, it's a little iffy using it in the city. I probably wouldn't use it on the highway at high speeds, where you need to see farther.
I did drop the helmet onto the street, from waist level, and it results in some small scratches in the face shield. This was expected.
The dark look looks cool, if that's your thing. It has the position lock on it, but I have the Vortex helmet, which doesn't support this feature.

Light Smoke
I got the light smoke for my bell vortex helmet. I was expecting a little darker, but still better than my clear shield. I can use it at night without a problem so I don't have to carry an extra shield with me.

When the description of an Iridium (or mirrored) faceshield says "light" or "dark", it is referring to the degree of tint, not necessarily the tone or shade of the color on the outside. A "light" blue will have approximately a 60% tint, the "dark" blue is closer to 80%. There is little to no difference in the actual exterior color.7 months ago

Is Rain X safe to use on these visors? I have the clear that came with my helmet and a transitions visor as well. I live in a place that rains quite a bit. I'd like to use a product like Rain X but I've read that it could possibly damage or make the visor brittle. Do you know if Rain X is safe to use on these? If not is there a product that is safe to use?

Answer:
We would not recommend using Rain-X on any visor/faceshield. Rain-X is a petroleum based product, and after prolonged use it will break down the polycarbonate chemical structure of the visor. This will result in the face shield becoming more likely to crack or break in an impact. Using any product similar to Rain-X (IE petroleum based) will have the same effect, and the best thing to do is just to keep the visor as clean as possible. If the surface of the visor is clean and smooth, the rain will not have any dirt to stick to, and should bead off the visor fairly well. When cleaning the visor use a very soft, lint free micro fiber cloth along with some warm water. Be very gentle and when drying the visor use a soft, dry, lint free micro fiber cloth.8 months ago

it says on the plastic film covering the visor to not use that kinda stuff. that it'll remove the antifog and antiscratch coatings. so i wouldn't. i never have in the past and all i did was turn my head side to side while riding and it'll blow the rain off. works well enough. u could try it on the clear to see what it does before trying it on your transition one.2 months, 3 weeks ago

I want the cool mirror look but without any tinting?

Which color shield would best provide that? I bought the bell revolver and it has an internal sun visor and I ride a lot during night time and would just like a cool mirror look without any additional tinting(or VERY low)

The Silver Iridium faceshields have the same levels of tint as their corresponding smoke shields. For example, the Light Silver Iridium has the same relative tint as does the Light Smoke, and likewise for the dark versions. Unfortunately, Bell does not offer a mirrored faceshield without any tint.Age: 25-34

the best you're gonna find is the light silver iridium(or gold or blue). it'll have a little tint, but will be fine at night. i use dark smoke and ride at night all the time. iridiums are usually a little lighter than their non iridium cousin. so a light iridium will be lighter than a light smoke, typically. the only time a dark smoke is too dark is in middle of night with no street lights, no other cars, and no moon. so it's rare. i think a light tint should be good for you.2 months, 3 weeks ago
