I have the Bell Shorty Flames (titanium). the finish was is flat, when I tried to clean it with Dawn dishwashing liquid, the finish became sticky,

Should the finish on this helmet be flat or a clear coat finish? After cleaning portions of the helmet the base is like a clear shiny coat.

Answer: 
The Bell Shorty Flames Helmet is supposed to have a matte finish. Bell recommends cleaning with a damp cloth since detergents may remove the finish.
