The visor that comes with the helmet is not very dark and didn't provide much. The Dark Smoke is well worth the money and is very easy to install.

I wear prescription glasses and don't have prescription sunglasses, which is why I have a helmet with a drop-down visor. This visor is dark enough to really help in bright sun. The one that came with the helmet was maginally helpful.
Even if I didn't wear glasses, I would still use a helmet with a visor. I find a drop-down visor extremely convenient and have had one on my last 3 helmets.
