Nice Hemet [With Caution]
Received the helmets in a couple days.Fast shipping.easy checkout.Helmet fit nicely.Feels light and looks good.I have not used them rideing yet and i will do a follow up after a few months of actual use.

I bought 2 of these because of a change of motorcycle. And the nice fitment of the Sena headset that my wife and i use.

However i hope future peeps considering this helmet read the desription entirely or see this review.

The Sena SMH10 standard mic set will NOT attach right to the helmet. You will have to purchase the Bell Mag-9 Sena SMH-10 Clamp Kit.At the top of description it says...

Designed to easily accommodate the Sena SMH10 Bluetooth® stereo headset and intercom, the ultra-comfortable and versatile Bell Mag-9 Sena redefines the open face helmet category. From long distance touring to cruising your favorite local roads, the Mag-9 Sena is the one helmet that does it all in style.

Please scroll down and read the very last sentence in the description.

Notes: Sena SMH-10 sold separately. Mag-9 Sena SMH-10 Clamp Kit is necessary when using a standard SMH-10.

I dont blame revzilla for my bad.In my excitement at seeing an open face helmet with Sena integrated fitment.I didnt read the note.

However it will cost you an xtra $39.95 per to have the stock SMH10 work.Boom!

Mag - 9 Great Value!
Helmet is a well made, comfortable helmet. It's calling card is the ability to seamlessly attach a Sena unit to the shell. Attachment of the unit is simple and a really nice touch. Being a 3/4 there is always going to be more noise than a Full-Face and slightly less safety - that being said it's well bilt and hopefully will last a long time.

The visor could come down a 1/4 of a inch more, would be the largest gripe - but in no means distracts from the comfort.

It's a good looking helmet, with unique features that really make it stand out. Most importantly its reasonably priced with a bunch of value built in!

VERY quiet/VERY comfortable
First, this is one quiet helmet. Not "quiet for a 3/4 helmet" but just...plain...quiet. Period. It's quieter than my Speed and Strength SS2200 and it's quieter than my Scorpion EXO 900 (modular). I bought it so I could add a SENA to listen to the tunes from my bike stereo. Now, I'm not sure I need the SENA (although I'll still probably buy one for phone use).

This is also very comfortable. I normally wear an XL but a Large in this fits like a glove. (A soft, smooth glove at that.) It feels like it was made just for me. Rocking comfort, especially at this price level.

Two very small "nags". First, a good side wind gets all the way up to eye level. I know it's an open face helmet but with the large face shield, I was still surprised. During normal (frontal) winds (at speed), I don't feel any air except on my chin (where the face shield stops). Second, the face shield seems a bit wobbly/loose as you're pushing it up. Solid as a rock when it's left alone at any of the remarkably strong detents. Bell might consider moving the face shield "tab" from the side to the center. I think that would solve the "problem".

Overall, this is probably the best fitting, most comfortable and quietest helmet I've ever had. I've never had a high end helmet (like a Schuberth) but I've had everything from $20 skid lids to $400 Arais and everything in between, full face, modular, 3/4, 1/2, etc. Bell has done an outstanding job with this helmet. Move the face shield "tab" to the center and replace the (aging) double D ring closure with a modern ratchet and this could be the perfect helmet for the masses.

Great value and function
I bought this Bell Mag 9 along with the Bell Sena bluetooth headset that it is designed for and I'm very pleased with the package. The helmet is very comfortable and quiet although I ride a Concours with a large windshield. First open face helmet in decades so I was a little nervous about ordering it but I'm glad I did.

Great helmet
Nice helmet, lightweight. I already had the sena smh10 communication system on my other helmets and they work fantastic. It was time for new helmets for the wife and myself and the deciding factor was Sena and Bell helmet combination. I had to buy the “Bell Mag-9 Sena SMH-10 Clamp Kit” and install it which was very easy. It is a comfortable helmet. The Anti-fog shield works fantastic. I ride to work in the cold early mornings and absolutely no shield fogging. The sizing of the helmets runs true. The drop down inner dark shield works great. Takes a while to get used to the operation of the shield if you’ve had other drop down dark shields with different methods of operations. I experimented making phone calls with my earplugs in, at 30, 40, 50, 60 & 70 mph. Up to 50 it is totally normal talking. AT 60 I had to start paying attention to what was said a little more closely (not bad) and raise my voice a bit and speak more clearly. At 70 I definitely raise the voice and spoke more clearly and had to listen more intently. Intercom works fantastic. The Bluetooth piped in music was good up to about 55 mph then the base started to drop off because of outside wind noise getting louder. It has plenty of volume to really crank it up. I was using an iPhone 5. Even at 75 mph you could hear pretty well. The wind noise peaked out about 60 mph and remained the same no matter how much faster you went. The Sena Smh10 Module snapped right in place and is easily removable and is almost unnoticeable recesses in the side of the helmet.

Now for the bad Part:

The first thing I notice was the wind noise was extremely loud. I mean unbearable. I am used to wearing earplugs but on the trial run I didn’t wear any and it was loud. So I went home and stuck on my other open face helmet (HJC) and took a trial run to see if it was as loud. It was 50% quieter. After examining the Bell Sena Mag 9 helmet I notice after I pulled the plug on the left inside to install the Sena communication system a small square hole about 1/8 inch was exposed running thru the helmet into the ear canal. This 1/8 square hole was sealed before I remove the inside Plug to installed the Sena Communication system. The wind rushing by the 1/8 square hole was unreal. I ended up plugging the hole with some cloth material on the inside and stuffing some material from the outside into the hole. Then I capped it off with some Black electricians’ tape. That did the trick. All the material and tape is unnoticeable. It is just a quiet now as my other open face helmets if you can consider open face helmets quiet.

Overall the helmet is great and I would recommend the helmet. I just wish they would do something about the 1/8 hole left after the inside plug is removed when installing the communication system.

Comfortable helmet
My head is a little more oval, some open face helmets hurt my forehead. The bell does not, it's super comfy. Even though the bell is setup for the sena headset my factory HD headset fits on it just fine. Really like this helmet.

Outstanding helmet for the money!
Purchased a pair of these helmets with the Sena SMH10 headsets for myself and my wife. The helmet fits a little on the snug side but is very comfortable with a slightly rounder profile than some other helmets I've had. I love the visor and the drop down sun shade on my morning commute east into the rising sun. I've never been one to wear a helmet much but that is changing and it's easier to convert to a helmet wearer when the one you have is comfortable and doesn't feel claustrophobic . Even with the shield down I don't feel "boxed" in and I can ride with the shield up out of the way until I hit hiway speeds. I would purchase this helmet again given the need.

Great Helmet with GREAT features.
Overall I give this helmet a 5 star rating. Why? Because it's very comfortable. In addition, I like the sena communication set up. My SMH-10 fits perfectly in this helmet and works well. This helmet is very stylish and I really like the shields that are built in. Very cool. Oh yeah, the vents are great. Keeps my head from sweating. On the downside the helmet feels a little flemsy at the base. I'm use to full face helmets that don't give much when putting them on. I guess I should expect that since this helmet is a 3/4 type. I feel comfortable with the protection it gives. It's lightweight and reasonably quiet. Get one....you won't be sorry.

Great Helmet by BELL
GREAT Styling - and features
Innovative functional ideas with regards to incorporating the SENA Blue Tooth headsets as well !

I do find the helmet a bit "oval shaped" rather than round when I first put it on - but I'm sure this will ease up as the helmet molds to my big head with time / use

Excellent Helmet
This helmet is awesome! I have worn other 3/4 helmets and this one is by far the best. No wind buffeting at high speeds, sun visor works well. I have read other reviews where people said this was a loud helmet. Not true, there is no wind noise. I also bought the Sena 9 two-way radio to go with the helmet and it works great.

Is this helmet snell rated? Brandy
A shopper on Dec 23, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The Bell Mag-9 Sena Helmet came with a DOT sticker on it. I have searched the interior of the helmet for additional information but there is nothing to indicate that it is Snell rated, only DOT. The Bell website also lists this helmet as DOT Certified with no mention of Snell rating.
I have a new 2014 Harley with their hard wired comm set. How difficult is it to attach to this Bell Mag 9 ? I have tried the Bell Mag 9 and it is comfortable, but am concerned if I am a non Sena user. Thanks.
A shopper on Jan 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Don't listen to those who say not to buy this helmet unless you are using the Sena bluetooth prods. I had absolutely no problems attaching the Harley Premium headset to this helmet. In fact, the Sena capability made the installation just a bit easier- there is a pull out section of foam right under the left cheek pad that makes it eas to clamp the Harley headset to the helmet. The cheek pads have speaker pockets and the wires tuck neatly under the rubber moulding that runs around the outer perimiter. Easy 10 minutes or less to set the whole thing up. So go ahead and get this helmet it works with the HD headset just fine.
Will the upcoming SENA 20S fit in the integrated cut out?

BEST ANSWER: Hi Mike, I looked at the configuration of the 20S and to be honest it doesn't look like it would fit 100%. Th Bell Mag 9 helmet was made to fit the Sena SHM10 which is what I have. Even at that when ordering you have to specify that you want the SMH10 designed for the Bell Mag9 as the first one I got didn't fit and I had to exchange it.
How do you remove the face shield on a mag 9 ?

Can you use this helmet with the shield up on highway speed?
A S on Jul 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have been using the helmet now for two years. I ride an 1800 goldwing and use it with the shield up on the highway. I will drop the shield in the rain or cold or you can use just the sun shield. They work great.
How does this helmet perform in the rain? Does was get into the hemet from the underside of the main shield, or through the gasket material at the top and sides?
A shopper on Apr 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: When I've been caught in the rain with this helmet I do not remember water getting in the top or from up under the shield. Having said that it obviously is still an open face helmet which lets a lot of air under at your neck and chin and probably some water too. But letting the air in is the whole point of the helmet.
It's my second/spare/ hot weather/ two up helmet. My wife likes it as do I.
I'm looking for a new helmet and am trying to find an alternate to my beloved Aria Signet GT that is way past it's lifecycle. This is a long oval helmet and fits beautifully. My wife and I need new helmets and we'd love to try a couple of Bell Mag 9 with the integrated Sena intercom headsets. Living in Florida it get's too hot for a full face and my current open face doesn't fit well (it's not right for my head type). I'm worried about the fit of any helmet due to the long oval that seems to be the shape of my head. I keep hearing "Intermediate" oval a lot on Revzilla and know that helmets and sizing have change quite a bit since the Signet GT's introduction. We need to get measurements but I suspect I'll be at the 2XL and she will be a medium. Any thoughts on comparable head types between my Signet GT and the Bell Mag 9? Thank you - Allan

BEST ANSWER: Allen I have both round and oval helmets, and find my head fits better in the med oval types. I use the the mag9 with my sena MH10 headset with the mag9 sena base system. The sena base fits exact, speakers has pockets and easy snap on and off with the SMH10.
I have 2 Interphone F5s. How would they fit with this product?

I now have an Arai Quantum 2, and I am looking for a 3/4 helmet to use because I just purchased a bike with a windshield and my full coverage is too hot to use. Also, When I put the Interphone inside, my Arai became uncomfortable. I tried this helmet on and it seemed pretty comfortable, but I am leery of the impact of adding the intercom bulk.

BEST ANSWER: I can't help with your question about the fit of the intercom since I use my Bell Mag 9 Sena without any inserts, at least so far. I find it a reasonably comfortable helmet, but not as comfortable as my Shoei Multi-tec. But having the open face design with the easily pull down face shield and separate sun visor really makes this an extremely versatile helmet. And it is far less expensive than any of the brands I normally consider such as Shoei or Arai. Overall I am pleased with this purchase, but not blown away.
I really like the style of this helmet. I measure right in between a L and XL on the size chart. Does this helmet tend to fit slightly large or slightly small or is it very true to size? I need to know whether to go up or down a size based on my measurement. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: I have only used 2 helmets in the last 15 years - The Bell Senna and a full face HJC. Both are size large and the fit is nearly identical in each.

Because the Bell is so open, I don't think I would enjoy a loose fit.

I do like the Bell. It is really convenient if you wear glasses and the sun visor works well.. It is a little noisier than the HJC and it let's in a lot of air for cold weather riding. Other than that it has been excellent
I need a single set up for the Sena 10 on this helmet. What do I need to order? I don't see a single kit. Do I order the Sena10 and the Bell mic?

BEST ANSWER: Here is what you need for a single setup
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh-10-bluetooth-stereo-headset

The Mag-9 is Bell's premiere open faced helmet debuted in 2012.
The beauty of what Bell has done here in 2013 is they've
completely iterated on this helmet.  They made a few key updates, but the
big functionality and why we're calling it the Mag-9 Sena is that it now
has an OEM fitment, you can see right where my finger is, there's an OEM
fitment panel that allows you to integrate seamlessly with the SMH-10 Sena.

So, what Bell did was they went out to the marketplace, they did their
homework, they looked at Carta, they looked at Fit Sena, they looked at the
other Blue Tooth units that were A2DP, that were Blue Tooth 3.0, that were
functional, and usable, and they said, "Who is the best that we can
integrate with, that our Mag-9 open faced customer can really add that Blue
Tooth communicator, but seamlessly do it in a helmet in a very usable way?"
They ultimately selected Sena.

So, remember the Mag-9 is going to be the intermediate oval head shape.
It's a polycarbonate shell, multiple sizes; I think it's an extra small
through 2XL.  There's a lot going on here we're going to walk through some
of the nuances a little bit later in the video.  Let's start out with the
key changes, now remember as we go through this I would love to hear your
gut reaction on our YouTube channel, click right here, subscribe to us,
stay up to date with all of our latest gear reviews.

So, let's walk into the key changes.  The first major change, and again I'm
going to finish here with the install of our Sena unit.  First key change
is they change the lever on the drop down sun visor.  It's now a finger and
a thumb operation, very easy to use.  Remember drop down sun visor anti-
scratch, anti-fog, gives you the ability to not have to wear sunglasses if
you don't want to. Nice touch we've seen it a lot in different progressive
helmet manufacturers, and it was on the original version.  It's now much
easier to use.

Also, staying in that same vein of comfort and flexibility you know they
know, Bell knew that a lot of customers are wearing the open faced helmet
with sunglasses, and sometimes when you're cheek pads are a little bit more
dense near the top it becomes different depending on the type of sunglasses
you're wearing. So what Bell did is they took the top area of this cheek
pad and they tapered it and they made it a little bit less dense foam.  So,
whether you're wearing eyeglasses, or you're wearing sunglasses you're now
going to have an easier time of getting them into the Bell Mag 9 Sena and having
them work comfortably.

The other thing they did on the new Mag-9 is that they've given you an
increased range of motion on your external face shield.  So, this drops
down all the way. The previous Mag-9 used to come up to about there, and
depending on how you ride, and how it sits on your head sometimes you might
get it in the top end of your vision.  So, what Bell's done is they've
given you extra range of motion now to fully clear it from your field of
view, again a really nice touch.

Now moving past that, and remember the Bell Mag 9 comes with a peak, it's
fully removable, there are side pods, you can wear it without the peak, you
can wear it without the shield itself, it's completely configurable.

Let's get into the Sena functionality, and really I'll show you what the
unit looks like, and some of you out there I have a Sena myself, I wear a
Sena, it's very rugged.  In my opinion it's one of the most usable Blue
Tooth communicators on the market.  Really that's why I love that they've
chosen to work with Sena because it's extremely usable.  Remember, ten days
of standby, twelve hours of talk time, A2D which means you can forward and
reverse, play, pause, talk to Siri on an iPhone, multiple device
connectivity over Blue Tooth, so that means GPS, as well as iPhone, up to
four riders 900 meters.  Again, watch our full detailed breakdown on the
Sena.

The Sena is a rock solid unit. But looking at the Sena and how it would
integrate with the Bell is that now what Bell has done is they've not only
changed the outer shell, but they've also changed the EPS to seamlessly
integrate.  What I'm going to do is show you how easy that is, and how
quickly it works.

So, what you have is this panel on the side, and remember five different
colors in the Mag-9, you also have a couple graphics available as well, and
it's right here on the left side underneath the lever, and you want it on
the left that's typically where Blue Tooth communicators go, because you
can keep your hand on the throttle.

So, as I use my thumbnail, that I've actually, that I bite my fingernails,
so let's see if I can get this off.  There we go.  I pull this door away,
and now I'm exposing a compartment that's perfectly suited for the Sena
unit, and you can even see the way it sits in there is slightly recessed.
The Sena's actually one of the bigger units, and for a lot of touring guys
they're okay with it, but if it sits fully off the Mag 9 Sena helmet you might get a
little bit of noise because it is a bigger unit, even though it is
aerodynamic, water resistant, you know it covers all of those bases.  By
slightly recessing it you're having a better chance to not create anything
external kind of extreme hanging of the helmet.  So again, you get a more
streamline air flow.

But what you have is you have the unit that would sit in there and recess
in but still leave enough room for the buttons, the connection port, you
know the jog dial here that again is one of the big selling features you
can also press, but behind that you're going to see that we have EPS cut
out. And what Bell's actually done, I'm going to go get my doughnut here,
is they've changed the EPS.  So, as I flip over from the top I'm going to
start to remove things, and again it's a good time to talk about the liner.
So, as I remove the liner out, remember anti-microbial microfiber, it's
wicking, the pockets around the ear are plenty cut out to handle the
seating unit, which has stereo speakers.

You can pull this bad boy out; you can pull out the entire liner.  It
actually has channels in it for the EPS.  I might as well just remove the
entire liner here, and remember intermediate oval head shape, and if you're
concerned about fit, remember we ship for free, exchange for free, no
restock fee if you need to send it back to us.  So, don't fret if you're
really curious about the sizing. But I'm going to remove my neck roll.
Here's my comfort liner, notice the cutouts they give you good air flow
through the EPS channel.

If you didn't notice there are two vents on top of the Mag-9, but as we get
into the guts here, I'm going to rotate this way, and you're going to see
around here on the side that where Sena would go we have this piece.  Can
you see that piece, if you can come in here really tight?  And what I can
do is I can put my finger in here and just quickly pop this piece right
out, and it has a pull tab at the top.  You can pull it from the top or the
bottom, but this is my pocket that's going to allow me to pull it out so I
can use the OEM fitment for the Sena SMH-10 Bell version.

So, once I pull the EPS piece out I can now and install my Sena, and again
I've removed the entire guts of the Mag 9 helmet, but really all you need to do
is remove that left side cheek pad.  What I want to do is pull everything
out and get it out of the way, but for you guys at home installing this you
don't have to go that far.

Now if I look at it, remember I have my cutout on the side, I know have my
cut out on the inside, OEM fitment, and what I'm going to do here is I'm
going to take my, really the female bracket here that has the connector,
that has the boom mic, that sits in this channel, and there's really only
one place it can go, and as I turn it this way I'm going to slide it up
from the outside, and you need to make sure to get it all the way in that
way you have room to install the Sena, and you can see it just flush mounts
right in there.  It completely closes that off, it completes the seal, and
now I have my connectors. And there's also that little screw hole you can
see it right to the left of the connection port, and you want to leave it
permanently installed, you want to make sure it's on their securely it
comes with a single screw and an Allen you just pop that bad boy right in.

Now what I can do is I can reach across, take my actual Sena unit, this is
the actual unit that you charge, this is what has all of the guts and
technology in it, slide it from the bottom down to the top it pops right
in, and it's that simple.  Recess mounted, completely installed inside, and
you'll notice I have my two speakers.  They're stereo speakers, they're
thick enough, and both sides of the helmet have plenty of room to where you
just snake these up, put the cheek pads back in, and you sit them in the
little pockets of the ears, and they kind of, they don't Velcro on, but
they have teeth to them so they kind of hold themselves in place.

Again, from front on you can see the low profile of the unit on the Bell Mag 9. And if I
turned to the side, you can also see again Bell being very thorough as they
typically are, you can see that I have my boom mic sits in a nice recessed
cut away from this EPS liner.  So, they've really thought through the
complete recipe for getting an OEM fitment on a Blue Tooth unit within
their helmet without having anything bulky, and remember there's voice
activation.  It's an adjustable boom, you put it where it needs to be. And
it's also going to be noise cancelling, so whether you're riding at speed
with it up, or with the face shield up or down you're going to have the
ability to have you're fully functional until.

Now, while I do have it in there I might as well leave it in.  I'm going to
let those speakers free float, because honestly placing them is the least
exciting part of the process, and it takes two seconds.  You can see the
interior liner, cut-aways, four vented channels, we have four exhausts in
the helmet, two intakes across the top you can see them with nice big pulls
so you can find them with a glove.

I mentioned the peak is removable, it's reconfigurable, it does have side
pods that go on there, remember it's a polycarb shell, multiple EPS sizes
that go up with the different sizes of the actual helmet itself, so
starting with extra small and going all the way up. And it's going to be
that intermediate oval head shape, which I did touch on, and remember that
means it should fit most people, but if you're curious you can always give
our gear geeks a shout out and talk through the sizing, and we're not going
to hurt you if you need to send it back.

You know other key things of note with the Mag-9, we saw it in 2012 be a
nice step forward from Bell. Now moving into 2013 you're getting the added
benefit of the seamless OEM interface with the Sena SMH-10, and remember
you can buy the Bell version, which is kind of comes with the housing
that's pre-integrated, or you can always buy that $40.00 piece if you
already own a Sena, and just buy that housing that sits on the back of it
and allows you to flush mount it right on.
