A simply great, simple helmet.
This is a really basic open face helmet. It does sit down lower than most open face helmets but it's still a DOT helmet so its not super sleek - none of them are. When I put it on I thought "oh boy, this thing is kinda big" but when you put your jacket and googles on and sit on the bike it looks natural and not too big at all. I've read a few people say that it sat too low to wear their glasses but I'm not sure how that's possible. I can fit my sunglasses or goggles on with a bit of clearance to spare. There isn't a ton of room for the arms on sunglasses though. So if they sit tight against your temples you're good to go. If the arms bow out at all, like my Oakley Tightrope sunglasses, they won't fit with this helmet. I found googles to be better anyway since the airflow through sunglasses (without a windshield) is uncomfortable over 50 mph anyway. A quick thought about open face helmets from a guy who has worn full face helmets for the last 20 years; there's something about not looking through the small "window" of a full face helmet that makes riding feel a lot more enjoyable. Like you're no longer watching the world through the windshield of your car. I've read other people say similar things and dismissed it but now its hard for me to go back to the full face helmet.

This helmet has a classic look and vibe.
I wanted a basic 3/4 helmet to use with my dual sport for riding around town. This helmet has great style and seems to be made well so far. Although the helmet was redesigned my size large still has a little bit of the mushroom look. I guess you can't totally get away from that with this style of helmet. It is really comfortable and fits great.

Perfect Helmet the Second Time Around
I originally purchased the Bell Custom 500 in XXL when it was released in 2014. I have a pretty large-sized head and although the helmet fit, it definitely sat up higher than I wanted because the interior was just slightly too small fit past the part of my head above my eyebrows. After hearing Anthony mention the new 2015 edition is built using 2 shells with one dedicated to the XL and XXL sizes, I decided to give the latest version from Bell and try and WOW what a difference they made. The XXL fits me extremely well and, as Anthony mentions in the video, it is very much low profile and looks great. No more egg head with the Custom 500 which also means not as much wind, or bugs, coming in the side by your ears. Bell correctly identified the issues with the original release and fixed them perfectly. For those seeking a retro looking open-face helmet that fits well and offers a good number of accessory visors this is the helmet for you. I rock my Bell Custom 500 with the longer 510 visor and goggles and switch out for the visor with the flip up shield when rain hits or I'm on longer trips. Way to go Bell and thanks very much to Revzilla!

I was looking for a good protection and look. This helmet satisfied both. Great fit, great visibility.
The helmet is not vented very well so it can be very warm on hot summer days but I knew that before I purchased it. It will be a great cool season helmet.

Clear and well rounded face shield
Snaps firmly into place. it is clear and the curvature is aesthetically pleasing as well as great for shedding airflow.

For all nostalgic people, which I konw there are a lot, this is one of the greatest helmets ever. Not the best in many modern technical features probably, but it gets the true essence of motorcycle.
For some reason the bike has lots of uncomfortamble things: cold heat, sun, rain, dust, etc. but still gives you that feeling that you cannot have with anything else.
So, stop looking for some features you don't even know what they are and pay too many of your dollars and keep it cool and simple.
I bought the sun visor too and a pair of goggles. By far, the helmet I most enjoy using.
