Bell Bullitt Retro Helmet Videos

Bell Bullitt Retro Helmet

In the late 1960’s Bell released the Star, the first full-face helmet, revolutionizing the helmet and motorsport industries and setting a new standard for safety. Since then Motorcycle helmets have taken all sorts of shapes and forms, but at its essence has always been the simple and classic Star. The inherent beauty in the Star’s simplicity has made it an effective and aesthetically appealing piece of motorcycle gear that has survived the test of time.

To pay homage to the glory days of motorsport, the Bell Bullitt inherits classic Star styling yet is infused with contemporary comforts and safety. Constructed with a low-profile fiber composite shell and multi-density EPS liner, the Bullitt meets modern DOT regulations yet comes as close as possible to the look and feel of the original Star. Luxurious appointments like micro-suede lining with leather trim, metal mesh circular intake vents with a rear exhaust vent and 3D cut cheek pads with speaker pockets compliment the vintage styling and push the Bullitt into the 21st century.

Named after the brash detective played by iconic actor and motorsport enthusiast Steve McQueen in the cult classic Bullitt, the Bell Bullitt is as much an exercise in design as it is in rider safety, breaking the mold and providing a premium retro option to the market. Put that vintage helmet back on the shelf where it belongs and pick up a Bullitt to fulfill all your retro riding dreams.

Bell Bullitt Retro Helmet 4.3 5 218 218
Awesome Helmet! The bell bullitt is my favorite helmet! I have it in matte black with a silver iridium shield, the helmet looks straight evil. I'm constantly getting asked "what kind of helmet is that"? You can ride it on any type of bike and still look great! My suggestion to those who ride with it in the colder months out of the year, cut up little square pieces of duct tape and put them over the 4 circle vents, in the dead of winter I tend to get a brain freeze haha. I have nothing bad to say about this helmet, it's super light, it looks great, wind noise is very minimal IMO. I highly suggest this helmet! February 8, 2016
Excellent for the right rider Well, I've been looking for a new helmet for quite awhile, and I just got one of these as a Christmas gift. Only one ride in so far, and I liked it! It was about 60 degrees and breezy for my first ride, and I put in about 60 miles, mixed freeway, country road, and city streets. The helmet's louder than my older Shoei full face, but surprisingly, at highway speed, I had much less buffeting than I get with the Shoei. Not sure why, but this is a nice surprise. There's a bit of draft that leaks through the gap between the visor and the helmet, not really an issue, as I wear glasses, but might bother someone who wears contact lenses. One nice benefit of this is that the shield is much less fog-prone than my Shoei. I've read some reviewers that complain about noise from the forehead vents, and it seems to be highly dependent on your riding position; with the head down in more of a sport bike "attack" position, the vents whistle noticeably, but in a more standard bike riding position, the noise disappeared. Note that I wear earplugs when riding, so there may be noise that I'm not hearing... The Bullitt has a HUGE eye port, much larger than my Shoei, or any other full face helmet that I've ever seen. I noticed a major increase in peripheral vision with the first left turn out of my neighborhood, a really nice thing. The chin bar is much lower than on my Shoei, practically out of view; it's almost like riding with a 3/4 helmet with a flat shield. This is a new experience for me, as I've never owned an open-faced helmet, but now I understand why they're so popular. In fact, when it warms up, I look forward to trying out my new goggles with this helmet. It'll be interesting to try riding with goggles on the street; I've only done so on a dirtbike before. It should be even more like riding with an open faced helmet. I'll let you know. The interior of my black helmet is a beautifully finished brown leather, with a red leather pull tab on the d-ring. There's also a very effective snap at the end of the chinstrap, which keeps the strap in place. One of my pet peeves with my Shoei was that the strap is really long, with no retention system. This often results in it flapping annoyingly at speed. I found the helmet interior to be quite snug, but it felt great after about 15 minutes. I expect it'll feel even better as the leather breaks in. The one complaint I had is that the neck roll leaves a rather small opening to put your head into, meaning that it felt as if I was going to tear my ears off the first time I put it on. Hopefully, this will get easier as things break in. Fitting my glasses in was quite easy once the helmet was on, so if you prefer sunglasses to wearing a shield or goggles, this is a viable option. Overall, I'm really pleased with the helmet so far. It is beautiful, and seems to function really well for what I need. I'll do an update this summer; by then it should be breaking in a bit, and the hot Arizona summer will provide a good test of its ventilation! February 7, 2016
The helmet The helmet is really cool, it's shape it's retro and it protects very good. I got the mate black and it looks really great with my bike. For starters I am a rounded face shape and the helmet was a bit tight at the beginning but after using a few times then it just easy. At 60 mph it can get a bit loud but not too much. I discovered, and I hope BELL notices this, that there is a lot of noise coming from around the neck area, from the bottom. Once I put my hand on the upper helmet, and push it down, I was able to cancel a lot of noise but it's not safe to ride like that. Overall, I love the helmet and the visor I bought with it too. Form and Function I had my sights on the Bullitt for a while but when they came out with this cream paint scheme I decided I had to pull the trigger. The paint looks fantastic. I know all the talk about this helmet is about the retro style but I really bought it for its functionality. The fact that she's so purdy is just a bonus. Riding for me is about freedom and not being confined and sticking my head in a full face bucket was in direct conflict with that. The Bullitt is for me the best compromise between the wide open feel of an open faced helmet and the added protection of a full face. It's super light and the field of view is amazing. I thought the bubble shield would be too retro for my taste and I would switch it out, but functionally, I'll have to say that I really like it. It adds to the open feel and I haven't had any problems with fogging. On the downside, the liner rides up on my forehead when I put it on and I have to wriggle the helmet around a little to get it in place. The fit isn't perfect for my longish oval head but close enough. I have a Bell 500 that was a bit hot on my forehead but eventually broke in comfortably. The Bullitt fits better out of the box. The vents do whistle which is a shame but not a deal breaker for me since I always wear ear protection. February 2, 2016
Ultimate retro styling but a bit on the expensive side First of all, this helmet has all the retro style and coolness you could ask for, but with all the modern features. The fit is comfortable and true to size. I am very satisfied with the overall construction and quality of the helmet. I will say that all the other reviews are accurate in that it is quite loud at higher speeds. I was lucky enough to get this helmet on sale and am very happy with the price point, but probably wouldn't have the same feeling if I'd paid the full $399. All in all, this is an extremely stylish helmet, perfect for that cafe racer look, but a bit on the expensive side. January 26, 2016
Good Look! It is very good look. It suit on red, black, silver and more machine. January 26, 2016
Fits on the small side Had to go from small to medium, because small was too tight. In other helmets, I usually wear a small. Once I got the medium, it fit beautifully, felt great, has a nice field of vision. I prefer open face, but this didn't bother me much. To top it off, it's a really sexy helmet. Hard to beat the looks of it. January 24, 2016
Great Helmet, Great Service I ordered a medium and it felt a little snug. So, I called into Revzilla and was helped by a customer service rep that had not only tried on this helmet, but the nearest equivalent competitors as well. His recommendation was to order the next size up and wait to try them on side by side. Also he explained that spreading the helmet when putting it on might be more important for this model. Once I tried them on side by side I stuck with the medium. I've been in it on the road for up to an hour with and without the face shield. I actually prefer it with no shield and sunglasses, weather permitting. As far as noise and air flow, I notice a little more noise if I lean my head forward. I ride a harley, so I'm pretty upright. With a more aggressive riding position, it might be a problem. As far as finish and features, the helmet is well made and put together well. Revzilla's service made the experience though. I couldn't have made it happen without their help, knowledge and return policy. This stuff has to fit to work, and these folks understand that. January 21, 2016
