Bell Bullitt Retro Helmet

In the late 1960’s Bell released the Star, the first full-face helmet, revolutionizing the helmet and motorsport industries and setting a new standard for safety. Since then Motorcycle helmets have taken all sorts of shapes and forms, but at its essence has always been the simple and classic Star. The inherent beauty in the Star’s simplicity has made it an effective and aesthetically appealing piece of motorcycle gear that has survived the test of time.

To pay homage to the glory days of motorsport, the Bell Bullitt inherits classic Star styling yet is infused with contemporary comforts and safety. Constructed with a low-profile fiber composite shell and multi-density EPS liner, the Bullitt meets modern DOT regulations yet comes as close as possible to the look and feel of the original Star. Luxurious appointments like micro-suede lining with leather trim, metal mesh circular intake vents with a rear exhaust vent and 3D cut cheek pads with speaker pockets compliment the vintage styling and push the Bullitt into the 21st century.

Named after the brash detective played by iconic actor and motorsport enthusiast Steve McQueen in the cult classic Bullitt, the Bell Bullitt is as much an exercise in design as it is in rider safety, breaking the mold and providing a premium retro option to the market. Put that vintage helmet back on the shelf where it belongs and pick up a Bullitt to fulfill all your retro riding dreams.

For my riding style, best full face for the money. My head is a long oval and it has always been a challenge to find a helmet that is comfortable for long rides. the Bullitt fits well and it should work for anyone with the same issue. It doesn't have the frills compared to a lot of the others on the market, but it's style works well for cruiser style bikes. Until this purchase, I leaned towards half and 3/4 helmets. With the way the Bullitt fits, and with the amount of visibility that it allows, it has become my default helmet for commuting. May 11, 2016
Great helmet at a great price! This helmet has some great features. The vents seem small, but they do let a decent amount of air flow in. The field of vision is very tall and wide and the liner is quite comfortable. I fit between a Large and XL, but am glad I stayed with the Large. I saw reviews stating the fit was smaller, and I thought the same when I first put it on, but after a wear or two, it fit to my head sharpe and is quite comfortable. May 3, 2016
Great materials and style, but style over function is not a good choice at this price. I bought a retro bike and liked the idea of a retro styled helmet with modern upgrades. So, the dealer had the Bullit for just over $300. The helmet style, build quality and materials are great. I was between a XL and L, but the L had painful pressure on my skull. Bottom line it's round shape doesn't fit my intermediate oval head. The XL felt good so I bought it. The fit is okay. That said, the bottom line is the helmet's price is in the Shoei and discounted Arai range. Having recently bought an Arai for just a little more than this Bell. it's no contest. True modern style helmets aren't as cool, but even with ear plugs, the Bell helmet is loud. My advice-Unless you just have money to burn on style points, I'd invest in a high function quiet alternative for the open road and buy a Biltwell Gringo or Bell 500 for in town style appearances. I'll keep my Bullit, but it'll be for around town hops. April 24, 2016
Classic look painful fit. When I first saw this helmet I knew I had to have it. The style was fantastic and had everything I was looking for. As far as exterior looks are concerned it is a smaller helmet that doesn't make you have that bobble head look. It's slightly plyable when putting on the helmet or else it can be a bit tight. I went with a Large, I could of had an XL and had some bigger cheek pads but it just didn't seem fully snug. Unfortunately on long rides this thing will hug my temples to the point of a headache as the padding surrounding the forehead is very hard plastic with a thin smear of leather wrapped over it. This is a great Helmet for city riding around town and having looking like a solid cafe racer. Extended rights I'd look into something much more comfortable. Aside from that, the exterior quality and bits is very nice. It seems like a very high quality helmet, and people who don't ride at the office often comment that it looks like a very expensive helmet. Cliffnotes version : Tight fit, maybe painful for long rides depending on your head shape. Great look, SUPERIOR build quality and style. April 20, 2016
Cool Full Face Great field of vision and does NOT give me claustraphobia! Light for a full face. Looks great too. Little on the wind noisy side but with ear plugs its fine. April 13, 2016
Amazingly stylish and lightweight with that retro vibe I just got this helmet last week, so I can't really offer a truly thorough review, but I took it out for about four hours of riding on Saturday and overall I'm loving it so far. Mad style points. It's such a beautiful object, and you might just buy one to serve as a sculptural piece of your decor! I have an HJC helmet loaded with modern features that I intend to wear for long highway hauls and inclement weather, so for me this is a cruising around the city in style piece of gear, but one that will actually keep me safe, unlike the Biltwell Gringos and Bell Custom 500s that other vintage riders around here usually wear. I like my face, and I'd like to keep it intact, so I go full face unless I'm riding my bicycle. Them's my two cents. Airflow and noise levels were good, but again I was riding around Chicago and up Lakeshore Drive, not blasting down the highway at 85 for several hours on end. I usually wear a L, but found that size immediately squeezed my head up at the two front side edges of my forehead and opted for the XL instead. The XL is much more comfortable. It's not quite as secure all around as I would normally like, but it's not flopping around either. I'm planning tto try some 25mm cheek pads (for the size L), which I think will tighten everything up just right. April 6, 2016
People like the blue flake So I started using this thing in the late winter when it was still really cold and rainy all the time around here. When the visor is all the way down my glasses fog like crazy and condensation gathers quickly on the bottom middle part of the visor. I have to ride with it cracked a few degrees in order to prevent those things from happening, which kinda sucks, but the helmet still looks stellar and I get compliments from passersby, riders, and the ladies. So there's that. I guess we'll see what happens when the spring really gets going and things warm up. Maybe I should try it with the flat visor. Other than that fog/condensation issue I should say that I think the cheek pads and neckroll are a little tight. The price helps me care less about that. If I had paid full retail I'd be thinking about something else. April 5, 2016
Amazing deal. Can't beat the styling. This helmet is obviously all about those going for a certain look. Although that brought me to it and the sale price sealed the deal, I am pretty pleased with it from a functional perspective. Of course, it's a little noisier than a more modern helmet, but overall it's pretty solid. Not to mention... The metallic blue finish is pretty amazing. April 5, 2016
