Arlen Ness Stage 1 Big Sucker Air Filter Kit For Harley Touring
The Big Sucker air filter kit features a one-piece aluminum backing plate and eliminates the need for banjo fittings, hoses and a filter. The breather exits at the mouth of the throttle body, creating a virtually closed-loop system.

A shopper asked:Does this installation require removal of the plastic backing plate on a 2014 HD FLHX? Also with the Big Sucker; if the backing plate is removed is the look similar to other BS installations in that one can see the filter element. I had a BS on my 2009 Road King and use the OEM filter cover however could readily see the filter.Jan 3, 2015
Richard D:Yes. Per the instructions for my 2014 ultra limited, which looks to be the same as yours, the back plate comes off an I am using the stock cover. I can not easily see my filter but if I could, the amount of airflow is worth it over stock. What else you putting on yours? fuel mgmt, exhaust??Jan 6, 2015
Matthew B:Yes, the backing is removed. I don't feel that you can see the element once the OEM cover is re-installed. You can put your finger down in and hook around the cover and feel it, but it does not stand out visually.Jan 6, 2015
Jeremiah M:Yes you do remove the stock backing plate. As for seeing the air filter you can, but you have to make an actual effort to try and see it. I was wanting mine to look like factory and it does.Jan 6, 2015
Robert L:The biggest difference between the Harley Stage 1 filter and the Arlen Ness Big Sucker is the grade of the filter material. The Harley Stage 1 in NOT a K&N filter. Yes you can clean the Harley filter but you will end up replacing it with a K&N. Yes the Big Sucker will provide much better flow, as there is more surface area and the backing plate is gone.Feb 22, 2015
gregg g:Don't have much experience with the harley parts, but this big sucker I noticed a HUGE difference immediately. I have no need to try or even question any others after having this. Awesome!Feb 21, 2015
