Arai Defiant Chopper Helmet

Designed specifically for the aesthetics and needs of street fighter and naked bike rider in mind, the new Arai Defiant Chopper is equally aggressive and feature rich, as one would expect from a new Arai helmet. Based on the fit and comfort of the Quantum, the Defiant was built for the upright riding position with its aggressive, integrated chin spoiler, which was designed specifically to guide wind around the neck and to improve the aerodynamic properties of the helmet. The Hyper Ridge Bumper circles the bottom of the shell both adding additional strength and also lowering the helmet's center of gravity, while flaring the helmet opening slightly to increase the ease of putting on, and taking off.

The Arai Defiant utilizes Arai's latest faceshield design, the SAI Max Vision Pinlock Shield with Brow Vents and includes Pinlock insert lens. The SAI Max Vision shield has been widened by 5mm left and right and offers one of the widest eyeports available for excellent peripheral vision.

solid Nice as any Arai. The extended chin bar works as advertised. I think it's the best looking helmet in the Arai line. I have no idea why they don't put padding over the chinstrap like on every other helmet I've had. It becomes irritating unless I set it on the loose side. The eye port curves upward at the periphery and makes head-checking harder but I'm coming from a dual sport helmet with crazy visibility. It's not loud or quiet. There's a breezy noise all the time - not bad. Vents like a champion. Overall a good buy, mean looking helmet, high quality with some typical Arai design gimmicks: funky face shield, harsh chinstrap, dopey retractable chin spoiler, etc. It's a keeper. November 25, 2015
Great Helmet Best fit of any helmet I have owned! Fantastic quality. Great airflow. November 9, 2015
Great Helmet I love this helmet, from the ventilation, visibility, weight, style, comfort and protection. If you can afford it buy it. October 22, 2015
Excellent Choice, but a little too much airflow After riding about 1000+ miles with the Defiant, I am very pleased with my purchase. Previously I had a Snell rated helmet but the feel, comfort, and weight of the Defiant is light years ahead of the other helmet, which was a great helmet too. I live in Colorado so the weather varies. Currently fall is upon us which makes for cool mornings and hot afternoons. The Defiant works in the varying conditions well and the Pro-Cruise shield helps me transition from early morning to the day with no problems too. The Pinlock shield is works beautifully as the shield has not fogged up once sitting at stop lights. The only issue I have, and it's likely just a personal preference, but the airflow is almost too much in the cool mornings, even with all vents closed and the shield locked. I have found a work around though, by wearing a thermal head liner. Overall this is a great helmet and would recommend it to anyone. October 21, 2015
expensive but good This is my first high end helmet. I like the style, vision out the visor. I first bought the Shoei RF-1200 but exchanged it for this one because the head padding in the Shoei was not fixed and it would move in such a way that it would block the air intake vent holes. The Arai has much better venting and living in the Houston area it is really hot during the day. Couple of things that I don't like: The visor is hard to flip back up once locked down. I usually don't lock it down and just ride with it cracked. The padding around the cheeks is pretty tight. I peeled away the 5mm layers that are designed to come off and they are still tight. We'll see if they break in more over time. I like the chin strap. It doesn't rub or irritate my neck. Then venting is nice, especially the temple vents. Noise level is okay but I've really determined a lot of noise comes from turbulence around you. I ride a suzuki m50 with a screen and if I stand up on my pegs on the highway and put my head in clear air it's amazing how quiet everything gets. The pull down chin thing feature is a joke and does nothing. Arai would have been better off adding a good wind curtain like the rf-1200. Overall its a good helmet. The price is high though. You get what you pay for. This helmet is comfortable, if you are going to be wearing a helmet for any extended period of time, most helmets start to have pressure points that will start to bother you, even when properly fitted. This isn't the case here. It is also surprisingly cool due to fantastic venting. If you are more interested in protecting your head than saving a buck I would recommend this helmet to anyone. This a great helmet!!!! No need to carry 2 visors. The shade feature is excellent and has great visibility. Helmet is very comfortable and fits great. The only concern I have is when using my Sena 20s, the speakers do not sit far enough in without bothering my ears. I had to modify the depth to make them fit better. I called Arai to see if the 15mm cheek pads have a thinner base, but they said that the only difference is the thickness of the removable pads. Other than this, this is an excellent product. Insane Air Flow. I have this helmet for 2 months now and it is very different from anything I ever had. Air flow was mindblowing first time I got up to 50 mph. Air blows from every angle and and sometimes straight into your eyes. You cannot completely seal this helmet. Even with all vents closed there is more airflow than my Shoei RF1100. This is great helmet in the summer at moderate speed but I can't imagine wearing this helmet on a long trip. Dark visor screen works good when it's down but makes noise at higher speed if you have it lifted. I don't ride without earplugs. Styling is superb. If it matters, I get a lot of compliments. Interior is very luxurious and has by far best feel from any helmet I use. There is only one pressure point on my forehead that feels uncomfortable after about an hour. Other than that very good fit. If you like lots of Air in your face this is your helmet. If you ride in cold days like I do, make a pass or use this as a second helmet. September 17, 2015

Richard P: No, they can't be removed and it is not a decal. I've gotten hit by a few small pebbles while on the road and the black paint was scratched. What showed through is the silver paint under the scratch so I think that might be the base layer. Excellent helmet. Apr 10, 2015
