AltRider BMW R1200GS Potentiometer Guard
Could be better
Looks nice! It will help protect but it should have been made a bit smaller, as it does interfere with my boot when shifting (adventure boot has protection at the shin and that hits the guard) it could have simply been made one inch smaller and there woul be no issue. If you ride without tall boots I would be a little consered about hitting you shin in it ouch!
Better design would have the rider side of this brace with a moe rounded edge. I'm just dealing with it for mow but will likely make a new one to replace it

I picked up the guard after loosing a day's riding helping a friend get his GS home following a gravel road tip-over that busted his potentiometer.
Simple 10 minute install. The usual Altrider quality fit and finish. And, the peace of mind knowing that an easily broken "dead-stop" part is now well protected.
A good purchase that I highly recommend.

Hopefully will never need it...but economic and looks great
For the price, I can't see why you wouldn't want this kind of essential protection. Well fabricated and the finish is flawless...only a 10 minute or less install too so no lost ride time.

Don't want damage to my potentiometer to leave me stranded.
Its nice having a peace of mind knowing i am doing the best to protect my potentiometer on my R1200GS. Im told if it goes, im stuck, so this is a small measure to protect this important part of my engine. Like all Altrider products, its great construction and looks good....

Excellent protection for Potentiometer
Altrider Poentiometer guard for the Bmw R1200 GSA is a well made, easy to install guard that is well worth the money especially if you take your machine offroad.

Riding Position and Potential Interferance
The product quality and ease of installation is amazing and I have no doubt that it would do its intended purpose without a problem but, as other riders have reported, once installed, I end hitting my shin against it on my normal riding position...
So, since not every rider has reported that interference, maybe it just affects a select few riders with "weird" riding positions
I am 5' 11" for reference

Excellent protection for a critical GS component
The Altrider Potentiometer guard looks pretty slick, conforms well to the styling of the R1200 series bikes, and gives excellent protection to the throttle position sensor. I occasionally bump it with my boot, but was probably doing that to the TPS, prior to installing the guard. Installation is a five minute job, with clear directions provided.

Looks good and seems solid. I haven't fallen on it to determine how good a protector it is. The only problem with it is that I tend to hit my shin on it and when not wearing high boots, this can be annoying.
